Join Casey Griffiths as he explores the recently purchased Kirtland Ohio temple. We go through several areas that most won't ever see. Casey explains some history of the first temple ceremonies, including practices similar to washing and annointings. He'll then explain the history of Christ's visit to the temple.

Fantastic video! I loved the tour, and seeing some of the spots you don't hear as much about was very cool. When I go in person I'll make sure I'm prepared for the stairs! That building is so unique and significant in our history, it is remarkable that it has endured over time and is in the condition it is. Many, many thanks to our friends at the Community of Christ for taking such phenomenal care of the temple for so long and preserving it prior to the change of ownership.

I toured the temple many years ago as a missionary in Ohio. It will be so exciting to see how the restoration continues. We also owe such huge appreciation to the Community of Christ for maintaining the building so wonderfully. (Our group of missionaries had a fantastic spiritual experience with our guide as she described the area where the Savior appeared: she whispered to us that she was supposed to say that Joseph and Oliver had just had ‘spiritual experiences’ there, but she knew that the Savior had been there!)

@@ts-900 of course the church dismissed this as anti Mormon at the time. They are very selective with their history as has been proven by their own admittance. I haven't seen anything official, but one of the differences as I understand it is there is now included the spiritual experiences, or included in greater depth, that occurred there. Mention of the visitation of Christ and the ancient prophets have more significance to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are now talked about in a different way than before.

Before the temple and other properties fell into the Church's hands for purchase, i knew it would only happen after the Community of Christ's leadership felt its significance was minimal to the organization's own purposes and mission. Couple this with the financial problems the CofC was experiencing, and it was the perfect storm.

As you walk through the Sacred Grove, they ask you to whisper and show it the reverence and dignity it deserves but in the very building those keys were restored in.... Eh, it's just another building
