The Sulry Corner bars are fitted. Had to replace the brake hose with one about 4 inches longer.
Bar tape is Serfas BT-26

Great to see that the Microshift Advent X shifter is being used because I have it on my rigid mountain bike. I will be getting the carbon version of the Surly Corner bar from Aliexpress which has a 31.8mm clamping area and cheaper to see if I like it.

Ok. Btw I am a materials scientist/metallurgical engineer. I would be very wary buying anything carbon made in china. Their steel is absolute crap. Carbon stuff tends to be riddled with voids and delaminates easily. Quality control is not a strong point. Same reason I would never buy a carbon frame - if I had the cash it would be titanium every time.

Nice. Re: too small diameter handlebars...one thing I've done was to cut up an old road tire. A section maybe 6-8" long, cut off beads, trim sidewalls a bit, then wrap around bars. Riding surface of tire should be about 10 o'clock position, or about where heel of palm would contact bars when riding with straight arm. Tape/glue into desired spot, re wrap over. This creates a slight teardrop cross section, and a bit of a flat spot on top, like Ergon grips. I wear XXL gloves, big hands, and I hate skinny bars cutting in. An added bonus! If you, like I do, rest your forearms on top of handlebars occasionally, like the TT position, the tire trick makes it pretty comfy.

I ended up removing the tape. I took a wide 26” inner tube, split it lengthwise an wrapped that on the bars then put the tape over it. Still didn’t like the feel and the Serra’s tape gets dirty quickly. So I ended up removing everything and wrapped it with black Prologo bar tape over the inner tube . Much better!

I will be putting REDSHIFT Cruise Control Drop Bar Grips on the tops for more comfort and ergonomic fit.

I wonder if they are more aerodynamic with the brake levers angled forward? Not that I would be choosing this setup for aerodynamics but it is interesting all the same. :). Nice vid thanks.

For me I usually ride them either on the flat top section or with the “hoods” between thumb and forefinger just like drops. The drop section is shallow and I put hands there going down hill I don’t like normal drops as I’m hunched over too much and also can’t reach the brakes properly so the corner bars work great. Also I did not have to buy new hydraulic brake 10 speed road shifters that work with my 10 speed microShift set up as I would have had to if I had gone with regular/flared drop bars - better and cheaper imo.

I got mine from ModernBike in Des Moines Iowa, but they are now out of stock - In fact almost everywhere I have looked they are out of stock. I must have been very lucky.

Depends on which country you are in. The Surly corner bars are in short supply everywhere. Ali express does a carbon knock off. Not sure on quality of it though.
