This category is really what most mountain bikers should be into. I have an Esker Hayduke steel hardtail set up almost identical as a Fuse. I did have a 2016 Fuse a few years ago and I loved it! Full Suspension is expensive, heavier, requires more maintenance and isn't needed for 95% of mountain bike singletrack we all ride. Glad Specialized is making a mid level version. Bikes at this price point are greatly needed.

3:50 - Rockshox Judy forks have 30mm stanchions. Are you sure this is 32mm? Also, the SRAM SX drivetrain is a huge disappointment compared to the Shimano Deore. Usually, when comparing higher spec Shimano vs SRAM, I'd say it is mostly up to the user's preference as the drivetrains work nearly the same, but the Deore is much better than the SX and I'd argue it is better than the NX as well. I hope SRAM moves away from some of the questionable design decisions of the SX.

I probably would have just as much preferred a 1x11 if I’m going for more of a value oriented build. 1x12 is so much more expensive to upkeep for that one extra gear. Glad I was able to snag the Deore though while it was available when I picked up my comp last year.

When I was looking at new bikes, the fuse was the one I was saving for. Until I read the specs on the sport at my LBS. I saw the SX eagle DT spec and asked the sales guy why would they do that??? He said he had no idea why they made that decision. People will buy it that don’t do their research first he said but they will likely end up upgrading. He said that I was better off not buying this model based on the drive train spec. Hmmm, honest bike shop. But that’s why I go there. And they didn’t have any other fuse models. My thoughts are at 2600.00 plus taxes which puts it at 2938.00, I’d be more inclined to look at something else or wait for the fuse comp. I don’t want to upgrade right out of the shop at the price.

@@Jamesthebikeguy hey thanks for the reply. I’m just saying that, when I was making my decision at the time, the SX put me off. I didn’t think or could afford an upgrade right away at that price as there are quite a number of really bad reviews on the SX drivetrain. Here, in my province I would have to pay about 500 more for the comp. is it better value? I’m not convinced. Is the Fuse line up overpriced? I’m thinking it is based on other brand models. Anyway, I really like your content, have been a sub for a while now. There is no doubt that the fuse is a beauty of a bike with geo to match:). Have a great holiday season!!

I’ve been looking hard and getting one of these though it seems the only significant change to the prior year base is a different group set that widely seems to be considered a downgrade? And a $400 increase. Sadly though, I can’t say it’s not warranted given the scarcity of parts and bikes themselves. Would imagine will see significant price increases across-the-board with the 2022 models

I have one on order (regular Fuse 27.5) and I DO agree-2021s specs were WAY better (bigger tires and way better drivetrain) and much cheaper as you pointed out. I have already ordered an upgraded drivetrain but that only adds more money. Haven't rode in 15 years-I hope this one is "the one".., LBS didn't have one to try.

I get a discount with their Hero Pro Program. I was going to get the base model and upgrade in the future. Or do you think it would be better to get the Sport for the extra $650? I’m just getting back into MTB and not sure what to do. I know it will cost more to upgrade than to just buy the sport. Though I may not need to upgrade at all. In your experience do most people just ride their bikes as is or get an itch to upgrade. I do like the brown color or the base model but also like the dark blue sport. What you think?

Am i missing something? SRAM SX, Judy, 120mm dropper, 2 piston brakes, msrp of $2400. Where's the value? Also, the reviewer mentioned "slack headtube angle". 66 degrees isnt slack, especially on a hardtail when its going to get steeper with sag. Was this review sponsored by Specialized?

These are pretty slick bikes. I checked out a used 2021 Fuse 27.5 a couple days ago. Almost took it as a partial trade for my Stumpy I was selling. It looks like this new Sport model is a replacement for the old base trim. I don't see any others, besides the higher end 29er models, listed on their website. Perhaps they will bring out a lower priced model similar to the 2021 spec, but the way prices are pushing higher, I think that is unlikely. Also, I suspect Specialized went with a SRAM SX spec as it seems that SRAM is squeezing out a few more parts than Shimano is currently. I'd say the biggest let down at the price is that Judy fork. Probably just a sign of the times with all this inflation, but I think 32mm stanchions are a little spindly on a 130mm fork. Would have been nice to see a Recon instead. That's part of the reason I passed on getting that 2021 model because I saw that as a likely upgrade point for me.

@Steve-wz5pz
@Steve-wz5pz 2 жыл бұрын
@@purplegarage05 Yeah, no it is not. 32 lbs is light for a $250 Wal Mart bike. 32 pounds is a big, fat BRICK for a $1,900 Specialized HARDTAIL. The last time I built a hardtail up, piece-by-piece, in 2019, I spent $2,055 and the bike weighed 21.26 pounds. Add two pounds for a dropper and a longer travel fork, and it's still 8.75 pounds lighter than this Tub-O-Lard. Why anyone would think Dark Star Matter is a viable bicycle material I have no idea. However, this model does represent a unique opportunity to own some.
