I’m an audiophile and this kinda reminds me about what I heard that HiFi places do to move product. They’re generally not allowed to offer discounts on the high end components and speakers. Otherwise shops would be undercutting each other all the time. But they can discount demo units. So often they’ll just open a box and then call it a demo unit. Many are sold as “open box specials”. lol.

A bike shop I used to work at sold a bike and they rode it and returned it because they said they didn’t ride it. It was an e-bike with 107 miles they rode on it. We sold it to another customer at full pop as “brand new” so bike shops definitely do lie.
