Toybiz was the best, they were made 20 years ago. They really cared about their figures. Some included comics, bases, smaller figures as accessories, stands, cards, way more paint than what hasbro puts on their figures. They really pushed the envelope for action figures. Just imagine the crazy stuff they would have made today, with updates on articulation and new characters. This is the biggest “what if” when it comes to figures.

Both the 12 inch line and transforming robots were released. The 12 inch line was labelled Marvel Studios. Marvel Legends need to bring back the VS pack series I really wanted a 90's Cage figure vs Hardcore with the on coming airplane as the cardboard background prop from the end of issue #1 and battle damage chase figures of them both with Cage having a removable black jacket and Hardcore accessory would be his bladed whipping chain. Namor vs Attuma, Blade vs Deacon Frost, Silver Surfer vs Thanos, 90's Ironman with classic Tony Stark & mullet headsculp vs 90's Mandarin this time, 90's Captain America vs Red Skull Nazi wearing uniform, Thor vs Loki, Punisher 2099 vs Fearmaster, comic book versions of Black Painter vs Killmonger.

I don't know about the actual reasons behind this but ToyBiz' Marvel Legends were way easier and cheaper to get here in Germany than the Hasbro ones. You could get a figure for 16,50€-20€ throughout the 2000s. Not in large stores like ToysRUs but small comic book shops. Now they are 25-30€ if you can even track them down.

If Toy Biz were to continue making Marvel Legends, the price of each figure would only still be around $12.00 (They were around $7 to $8 then). If toybiz never died out, I think we would definitely have mythic legion details and paint with toy biz articulation but with updated proportions. They would've ruled the 6in scale of all time. So it sounds like Toy Biz had pretty much run out of ideas for the Marvel Legends line, outside of 12" dress up Megos and transformer knock-offs, and instead wanted to focus on their Legendary Heroes line that would've drawn a much smaller crowd. Legendary heroes was a cool like. I had the whole first series. I still have dredd and judge death. The problem with them was the plastic, or maybe the paints used were awful. My dredd got super sticky with age , his paint just peelled off, and his leg just snapped off out of nowhere his armor pieces also snapped off, madman yellows pretty easily, death just seems to be rotting. And pitt... Pitt, though awesome also has a tendency to get really sticky. we actually got rid of him recently cause he was just deteriorating. And it's not like he was being played with or anything. Not sure what the problem was but it's very unfortunate. I had a to completely refurbish my Dredd. (New paint job, and resculpt of the armor) it's strange cause no other figures I have from that age or even older have done that. And in my hunt for a loose madman in good condition I noticed most are horribly yellowed. It really sucks cause this series had some great figures that I'd love to own again. But yeah cool series with weird issues. Wish it would have continued. Maybe get a the tick figure at some point. Love your channel btw. Been watching your stuff a lot lately. Very interesting.

The modern day upgraded look and consistency with hasbro for me all started in 2016 with the juggernaut build a figure wave, they some good figures before that but not consistently. But since 2016 they have been knocking it out of the park on a regular basis.. They have surpassed toybiz with the overall look and sculpt now if only we could get the weathering and paint apps that toybiz had, it's the last and final step needed and hasbros transformation will be complete..!

Hey Scott, I know you no longer work on any DC product, but in your opinion, what would it take for DC to take notice of a company like Jazwares to do 6" figures? I've been looking at their Fortnite figures in the 6" scale and they seem like they'd knock it out of the park with DC. I loved DCUC back in the day and they still look great, but I'd love a 6" line with the same level of articulation as Marvel Legends.
@spectorcreative1872
@spectorcreative1872 3 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest factors that comes down to selecting a toy partner is distribution capabilities. I don't know what Jazwares capabilities are off the top of my head, but I know DC going with Spin Master took a lot of people by surprise, so clearly WB/DC is looking for good partners.
@yauyuso

As of now the 6-7" license is with McFarlane toys and the more kid friendly line is the 4" figures with Spin Masters. It may be a while until we get 6" figures but I am very happy with what McFarlane is offering
@iampoch01
@iampoch01 3 жыл бұрын
McF is doing great with their DC line. It's quite unfortunate that it's 7", which is why I don't bother collecting it. Only one I have is the Hellbat. Right now, MAFEX is my de facto 1:12 scale DC figure standing alongside Marvel Legends. I loved the DCEU line, but at that time, I only collected Batman figures (Batman only), so I didn't have much.
@collegerebel
@collegerebel 3 жыл бұрын
@@spectorcreative1872 That makes sense. I also noticed that Jazwares didn't release their 6" Fortnite line until last summer, so I would also guess that a precedent hadn't been established yet for what DC could expect product quality-wise from Jazwares in the 6" collector market.

Short answer would be we won't get MCU. Marvel Legends line will still have ugly looking figures. Mattel's DC Superheroes line probably will see more improvements with articulation with vocal fans complaining the lower articulation with Toybiz super articulation figures with occasional articulated fingers. We would have gotten the animate Fantastic Four line, more 12" Marvel Icon figures, a few more Marvel Legends variants and an X-men 3 movie toy line. But also with the rumor of Toy biz owing factories money. In the long run maybe they would have been folded. Heck maybe Mattel may have gotten the Marvel License.
