The "sword raising" articulation was my favorite innovation during the Classics run. (still kind of salty we didn't get an alternate animated style "googly eyed" head for NA Skeletor though.)

Thank you again for another informative video, love listening to you narrate Scott 😊 Oh, I wasn't a fan of the "New Adventures" growing up, but it certainly had some very interestingly designed characters...however, I did fall in Love with the MOTU Classics NA HeMan action figure, you, Mattle and the 4 H worked so hard on...I have to say, its some of my top 5 favourite classics figures to date, he's so beautifully made and still "pretty reasonably priced" on Ebay or elsewhere...so anyone reading this, please get that figure, it's highly articulated as well...mine is always there on the desk at work ☕ Have a fantastic week everyone.

I remember seeing the NA He-Man toys on the store shelves as a kid and it was my first exposure to it. Since I loved He-Man, I wanted them all, and later did get a lot of them for Christmas, but He-Man's sword handle would break off, and even after getting a new one, it snapped off too. I was thankful later on that the newer ones were more sturdy and looked really cool too. I wonder if any of these will make it to Origins or Masterverse.

It’s funny, because I have absolutely no memory of the NA show and only one vague memory of seeing the toys at Wal-Mart. I wonder if making it about the son of He-Man would have been more successful.

Simply put, we’re fed up of NY… and have started the process of relocating. We haven’t decided specifically where, but will fairly likely be in and/or around the Concord/Greensboro/Charlotte region give or take.

I was between child collector and adult collector when NA came out but my brother had several of them. I enjoyed the sculpts but do remember thinking it was inconvenient that they weren't compatible with the MOTU stuff that were sitting in a box in our closet. His NA He-Man and Nocturna ended up living with my She-Ra figures when I dug them out a few years later as an adult collector to display -- before I traded them both for a mint-on-card Flutterina in 2000. Which still seems like I got the better end of the deal on that one.

Neat video! Thank you! I was never a big fan of the "New Adventures" stuff -- the cartoon didn't really do it for me, and I got three of the figures to "try out" -- but for the most part, I gave up on it with Wave One. And then Classics happened, and I wanted all the New Adventures figures in that style, because this time, they looked like they FIT IN. Oh, if only Classics had gone on a couple more years . . . .

I am recently becoming a HUGE fan of The New Adventures of He-Man. Could you do more videos on this. On why you think it failed (for me it was the SHOCK that suddenly all friends and famiy were GONE!), what it could have done to succeed and what good are fans missing out on? Cuz yeah, I'm now loving this altnernate way of "playing He-Man" through a Flash Gordon/Star Wars lens and it's a lot of fun! If Origins would put out New Adventures figures, they could have my money for probably the whole line. And this would be the first time I ever tried to get an entire line. Anyway. I hope enough time has passes, fans have relaxed and they really give the intergalactic adventures a try. I'm liking it way more than Revelation and there's 66 episodes! Keep up the great work. Flipshot rules!

@@spectorcreative1872 My personal take. As a kid I really was pretty hurt and furious that suddenly He-Man the biggest deal cartoon ever up and just stopped for what seemed no reason from my kid point of view. Then the New Adventures was on as the weirdest freaking how I could never track. And when I finally could find it.... first thing you find out is you're never going back to Eternia and all his friends and family are freaking gone?!?! It felt Last Jedi levels of betrayal, so it was hard to give the show a chance. But now.. in part due to how you framed it in Classics..... if this is just another adventure He-Man goes on and was able to be more back and forth if he wanted.. and know Eternia was still there, it would soften the blow a lot. Now I take it as a pretty awesome side story where he does Flash Gordon adventures with animation that's like Transformers Season 3, which was my favorite. Dare I say... I think it's one of the best He-Mans we've ever gotten, but I always loved turning my toys into space operas. And that's another great thing about the show. It is a very good mimic to mix matched toybox figures pulled together to make a play pattern. Anyway... I'm now a huge fan of the cocky Flipshot and his figure is currently my favorite of the Classics. He always has the most fun one liners in the show. ^_^ Thanks for bringing back so much fun with He-Man and keep up the great work. -Keith

I felt the same way about the Power of the Force figures from 1985. There wasn't a movie called "Power of the Force," and I hadn't seen these figures before, and I certianly hadn't seen them advertised, so I thought they were rip-offs. Oh, you want S7 to screw up your favorite characters with a high pricepoint, bad paint, iffy articulation and construction and crappy plastic issues? That's weird. Why would anyone want S7 to make figures of characters they love? I consider them scalpers, even if they produce the things themselves.

@@darkwoods1954 really? You think their motu figures were ok? Do you remember the 3 pack where the hip-pegs were to long so the legs stuck out like crazy or the following 3 pack where they, after promises for the better, they made the exact same mistake with the added bonus of making the plastic way to hard so limbs just sheared of at the joints and it made the replacement parts useless unless you heated them for like 10 minutes. They couldn't even make decent 1 to 1 copies of the Thundercats without having to release a set of stuff to make them look half way good. And don't get me started on their tmnt or their reaction line. They NEVER should have gotten the license for motu classics imo. That's what started all their crap.

I really don't get why we don't get ball-peg joints on the hands. They offer the best wristarticulation. These horizontal hinges are useless for posing with most accessoires (swords, axes, stafs, ...) and toydesigners seem to be allergic for vertical wristhinges.

Scott, you keep saying MOTU dominated the toy aisles, but did it? GI Joe ARAH was bigger wasn’t it? It allowed Hasbro to become the behemoth it became buying other toy companies. It was it that Hasbro had GI Joe and Transformers that allowed this? I love the book Toy Wars.

hi scott, great channel. question: why do the foreign translations on MOTU cardbacks not match up with the English equivalent? for example, for he-man, the by-line is "MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE UNIVERSE", but in german is is die starken der starken, which means "STRONG OF THE STRONG!" surely mattel would want all kids to say most powerful man in the universe as it is a tag line. and you can easily translate most powerful man in the universe into the exact phrase in german. confusing. it would be nice to know. thanks.

It is a shame that we didn't get more New Adventures He-Man female figures. I absolutely liked how Teela was shown in the series as it had a more high fantasy feel to it. If she was made in the line, I wonder if the misconception that she had never appeared in the show would have died swiftly. Why do you think that MOTU wasn’t able to have the longevity of something like Barbie? Is I just because boys flocked to video games and girls didn’t? It does seem that Barbie has changed very little over the years, particularly in terms of how she is played with. Did MOTU spend to much time chasing gimmicks?

@@spectorcreative1872 And retail just lost faith in the line after that? I guess my point is that it doesn’t seem like there was a problem with the toys, just the crucial error of making the main characters unavailable, which is fixable.
