I have not settled on any chosen build yet. I find them challenging to play and that makes them fun, but this is also ranked battles a random build would probably change merely on the numbers of extra ships that can shoot at you when you are DD hunting. I’m still very much on the drawing board.

I’ve been mostly playing ranked. I like the small team format and you get better rewards than random battles. Playing T5 feels a little derpy to me though I’m used to everything hitting faster and harder. Maybe it’s just me.

@@destroyerkuroshiokai I agree, T5 is not really a good tier for ranked. The DDs are mostly fine there, but the cruisers unfortunately have no proper role at that tier. They can't pen the BBs, they get overmatched by 203mm and above, they have no heals, no radar to actually play for the objectives, and their fire chance is generally atrocious. BBs meanwhile are the apex predators, and not really hardcountered by the DDs at this tier because of the low range and low number of torps in a volley, as long as the BB know how to use his WASD. I just decided to take a break from the game until they reinstate T8-10 ranked (with none of those superships that are just way too powerful).

@@samuelhakansson6680 100% agree on the cruisers balance at this tier. I don’t think it’s around T8 they start to find themselves and 9 and 10 are balanced.

@@destroyerkuroshiokai Fully agree. I get that people like the change from high tiers for once, but that's assuming you play BB or DD. Cruisers unfortunately are too poorly balanced until T8, perhaps even T9. Even top T5 cruisers like Furutaka and Exeter really only counter other cruisers, which I think is a shame. When you take a class out from the equation like that and only leave BBs and DDs, I think that just detracts from the game overall.

They are interesting. The disappear on command smokes do much to negate builds without concealment, but I agree they feel map dependent more than most DDs.

I’ve been struggling to find viability in the meta of this game. Low tiers I think opens up more play style options due to a lack of radar. Torp builds at this tier only knocks 9 seconds off the reload, it’s not terribly significant and other lines torp much more efficiently. I am not a fan of how WG treated them to the worst of both worlds, slow torps and short range guns. I just want to really try everything to see if something sticks.

You’re gonna be really disappointed with that type of play. The torps don’t do enough damage and have pretty poor firing angles. The speed boosts last for bugger all, as does your smoke.

@@deaninchina01 agreed on the speed boost that seems very out of place on these ships. That actually would be my first look to but these more tier Italian DDs if we are sticking with long range/slow torps and short range/high dpm guns.

We tried one in CB in a Wolfpack with a small and leading in and stealth radar ing on contact, the Reg following and smoking, and a Kleber off to one side about 2.5km for angled crossfire. Worked ok but you had to kill an enemy dd fast. T9 got more smokes and longer lasting speed boost which helped a lot.

You are correct it’s a combat tool not one to reposition. My concern primarily was we had two DDs to their one and I didn’t want to leave my gun range faster since it’s super short. The Kamikaze with me also has short range meaning we both would be unable to beat on that French DD. Hope that explains things better. Good question!
