I imagine that the groovy long legs during it's rhythmic stomping, constantly makes a sort of call that sounds like a high pitched squeaking, hitching screech version of it's boss music from the actual game, as a sort of intimidation call to dissuade predators. and maybe it's purple spray attack from the game would be a sort of hallucinogenic gas-like substance derived from it's ancestors venom glands.

If you enjoy the creatures of Pikmin for their uniquely fantastical, yet oddly grounded biology, then I heavily suggest trying your hand at one of the creatures from the Monster Hunter series. Yeah, it might be a little too obvious, and sure, some of the monsters are borderline real animals made more monstrous, but there's still a massive variety of creatures you could speculate on and turn into living animals; plus that last twist would make sure you stand out from other youtubers that mainly speculate about the monsters in the confines of the game's universe.

I definitely want to work with some creatures of the game, I've never played it myself but the designs and biological details seem very interesting and ripe for speculation! Thanks a lot for the suggestion!

Oh, that was a clever way to make the orb body for the Arachnorbs, and they are a much more diverse clade than I had remembered, with a lot of different strategies to protect themselves from hard-to-stomp creatures. They certainly have been undergoing a lot of rapid diversification.

The idea of legs fusing together reminds me of what I have in mind for my take on dwarves with fly ancestors, the middle and hind limbs fusing into a single pair for stability. With the arms becoming proportionately stronger to hold tools and other objects. Basically becoming something like crab claws. As well as being flightless like the dwarf bee. Was it, Fortibellator lucifilis?

Another banger video as usual! I don’t play any of the Pikmin games myself but I do enjoy seeing such a unique world on the channel. These animals seemed quite nice to me until you said that they are 10 inches tall and my brain said “KILL IT WITH FIRE” which might have been an overreaction due to me being on good terms with the spiders in my home. Besides that I really enjoyed this return to over 200 million years in the future, where human technology somehow is still around. Now onto my latest proposal: Death Angels aka those things from A Quiet Place. Humanity had always viewed itself as the dominant species on this planet due to a number of reasons. One of these was their settlements, massive impenetrable concrete jungles in which no large animals (save the occasional deer) could survive. That was until the discovery of The Death Angels. These large flightless bats were discovered by humans disturbing their habitat by mining and opened up their caves to the world. Death Angels live in very active and dangerous areas in the Earth’s crust where the temperature is at the extremes. This has led to the development of thick, heat-resistant armour across their whole body. This armour is surprisingly lightweight despite the large size of these bats and it allows them to ambush any prey items with ease. The most distinct feature of a Death Angel is the ears. Due to spending millions upon millions of years in complete darkness they have completely lost their eyes but their ears have developed into a large, scaly covering that helps them to pick up any sort of sound, even as much as a whisper from long distances. Their ears also allow for extra protection for their facial regions as they may encounter other predators in the deep dark. Death Angels are facultative carnivores so they feed mainly off of meat but if needs be they will consume plants and fungus in order to survive. They are somewhat intelligent and have been observed hunting in family groups which is similar to the hunting habits of Painted dogs with the young being the first to eat when a kill is made. These family groups are extremely rare and Death Angels are normally solitary but don’t form any sort of territory so they move freely around each other. There is a major flaw to their physique though: their armour is heavy enough to stop Death Angels from swimming so they will avoid water at all costs. Once Death Angels were first discovered they responded with an attack which is speculated to be from mass noise pollution from nearby cities. This led to them rampaging throughout towns in a frenzy, though not eating any of the creatures killed in the conflict. This is likely due to them not seeing surface animals as actual food due to how long these worlds have been separated. As we speak a deterrent is being worked on that utilities high frequency sounds to immobilise the bats so they can be quickly dispatched. I hope you enjoy reading this and I will see you soon!

To be fair, I doubt most spiders at your house reach 10 inches XD Also, really love this concept, it makes a ton of sense! The sensing organs being adapted from the bat's ears definitely works great!

An idea to explain the Man-at-legs, as well as pretty much all the mechanical/cyborg enemies in the Pikmin saga, would be that they are a species of arachnorbs that live in symbiosis with a form of biotechnological life similar to a fungi (or the mechamorph from Ben 10).

I honestly wasn't expecting you to turn the spider-shaped insects into actual spiders. But yeah, a man-at-legs video does sound neat! (In Pikmin canon, it is implied by all the spider-shaped insects, especially the one that spins webs to outright hunt like a spider, that spiders are extinct. Kind of a dark thought...)

Incredible video and I must say it is as it usually is rather impressive how you managed to keep true to all of the arachnorb family’s major characteristics while still making them feel like plausible animals also I’ll admit this week I don’t have a suggestion, so instead I will pose a question that I have been pondering for a little bit now about the SWRC lore that being is the research center a purely human employed institution or does it employ members of sophont species that we have and have yet to see.
@speculativewildlife
@speculativewildlife 11 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot! And the SWRC was originally a human only venture due us being the only sophont beings around. However, as discovery of and contact with new sophont species becomes more common, we might begin seeing more of them interested in human science, leading to them joining our research center!
