Suggestion: move the resource collector to the front so that as rocks turn into rods it immediately gets picked up. You can place your seat on it as well to make it more compact.

I like how he treats survival like creative where he's going more on aesthetics then effenciency (less parts used)

The arms are just not needed. I like doing a row of 3-5 drills depending on the size of my vehicle. Put them all on one bar with a bearing and have a logic unit connected to angle them about 15 degrees down when using them and 15 degrees up when driving. Sometimes it is useful to move them up and down while drilling through a large clump. I also swap out the drills for saw blades under the bar. I usually keep it down the whole time, but with the larger logs I need to pick it up and bring the blades down on top of the logs. I use a separate electric motor with them as 1 and 2 so I can use my right and left mouse button to control them. I leave the extra saw bearings on the vehicle and leave them hooked up to my vehicle (that has all my storage, craft bot, chef bot, dress bot, refinery, resource collector, beacon, bed... everything but my farm glow bugs). Even this large vehicle (MUCH smaller than Scrap Man's nomad vehicle) has no trouble mining and harvesting trees. Sadly I screwed up and the second resource container is not close enough to my refinery and had not noticed this whole time. I likely will just remove it as it does not seem to make much difference as I rarely mine huge amounts at one time. I like using drills to kill bots too. I actually use this to defend my farm. I have saw blades all around the vehicle under the edge and drills on all 6 wheels so they will not attack me, but they will go after me if I get close, so I ram a group, then back up and many will follow me and move in front of the vehicle... then I ran them again and again until they are all dead. I have saws around my farm too. They rarely damage a few blocks. I am only doing 48 plots and I have to do all top tear to get 1-2 tape bots to show up.

Moonbo, you can connect the chest directly to the refinery so you don’t waste the vacuum pipes. You can even connect the chests directly to eachother.

You could place the collector box to act kind like a dumpster, so instead of having to drive over the material all you have to do is back up and move the box itself over the dropped items. Alternatively, you could build a crane to achieve a similar affect. In fact, if you did that you could manually move the collector closer to the grinder or away.

Long time viewer of the channel, you featured one of my builds way back, it feels like I was so young back then, just wanted to say that you were a big part of my earlier childhood and I really appreciate all of your videos. I’ve just recently returned to scrap mechanic due to survival and it’s amazing, and very nostalgic. Watching your videos only adds to the nostalgia. Wow that's a great rock killer! In the front I think you will get better stability if you put the pistons behind the bearings instead of on the bearings. Should just be able to swap the block and piston and it will be the same length if i'm looking at it right.

Added benefit of having refinebot on the trailer is that it's always in the same chunk as you so it's actually working the whole time.

One quick idea, like you have the arms in the front that can fold back, maybe have the container on an arm that can fold up over the car to the front of it so you can have the container in the front, them fold back and put it back near the refinery. Kinda like a garbage truck.

Mmm. the only issue I'd have with that thing is the Resource grabbing. I think the easiest way to fix that issue, is attach two collectors on the sides of the front of the vehicle, so you can put them up by the refinery. But the whole of the vehicle itself is pretty incredible!

You should put the seat in the back of the vehicle and move the resource collector to the front so minerals can be picked up right after you break them *it also has to be exposed to the floor You should also put a bed near the farm

Any time you have to get out to pick up pieces. Instead of picking them up one by one, just pick up your resource collector and drop it near the rods, it'll instantly grab all the rods. Much faster than one by one

What if you modified your drill arms to also be able pick up the large rock once disconnected from the ground, and then dump that large rock into a pit of drills/grinder that sits on it's own trailer. The pit could have collector right under it. Probably not terribly efficient thing to do but sounds like fun. Or maybe even a way to just load the rock onto a trailer that can be hauled off. OR A ROCK CATAPULT. catapult the rock in the direction of your base :D

Should attach the resource collector to that roll cage you have and have it flip up and down in between your drill bits to quickly pickup the pieces after you drill the rocks down to the unrefined ore.

nice design, you would get rid of the lag issue if you moved collecting container right behind the drills, so that it is right next to the resource bars when they pop out of the rocks.

They destroy them, because the mining truck has wobbly drills, causing them to never not be able to hit the rocks, like getting blocked out by eachother. Suspension can do the same better, but you have such an unstable arm creation it works as suspension xD

I taught the pipes going up to the collector were on bearings so you can flip it in front of the vehicle, collect and refine.

Since it works so good coming from the bottom with the 6 drills, I feel like it would be a great idea to make 2 more arms that come over the top and stretch over the other side and you can get it all broken up in half the time

I still love the looks of this miner. You build such incredible nice vehicles. I have a personal measure of mining efficiency: When I have 2x refine bots and res collectors and they are both running but cannot keep up with me smashing rocks - then i'm at 100% efficiency. I place my resource collectors right behind the drills and attach the refinery bots behind. Then sit on top of the collectors.

You don't need tubes to connect the input/output modules in chest and bots, just connect the green circle thingies in the sides directly so you can save a lot of space and materials.

Moonbo you should try making a robot arm attach it on your vehicle and attach the resource collector. Edit: umm can you crush a boss and a boss can attack your farm, cause scrapman got raided by a boss. Edit#2:If you make a base you should have the crushing mechanism all around your base.

Is it possible to move the resource collector/storage to the front more, right next to the drills? Or maybe have it on an arm like the drills, so you can flip it to the front to collect, then flip it back next to the refiner. If you can collect them as soon as you can, you should eliminate the lag. Cool design, Moonbo

you can add an arm to the car that lifts the collector up and over your head and puts it in front of car to pick up items.Then you will not need to get out of car at all :)

Number one easiest tip for getting those final rock pieces that are lying in the ground? Rotate your 2 front drills so they face downwards, make sure they rotate in opposite directions turning towards each other

Ive found that if you place the collector box close to the drills, all the small mineral rods gets sucked up instantly when they are mined out

I might have to adopt this drilling system - lol - so much better than my current 3 drill system. And yes, while it does look like a crustacean, to my mind it's more of a lobster than a crab - lol

You should try to put Ressource collectors on the outside of the drill arms ! Then you pick up automatically, and if one is full you can fast switch the collector from the back with a full one!

If you could swing the collector out and in front of the car when you needed to collect the ore then return it, would make collecting easier

Moonbo, you can pick up the resource collecter and place it next to the in refined logs so you don’t have to pick them all up by hand

I think you should add second container side by side and rotate them 90 degrees and drop them a little closer to the ground 2-3 blocks worth might see increase in the collection of the ready to refine peices.

containers pick up minerals from 2 blocks away, you need to lower it 1-2 blocks so it is more efficient at picking. I build mine 1 block from ground.

if you bottom out the resource collector so it doesn't have that platform underneath it and move it just a little lower you might be able to get rid of that issue where it wasn't picking up some of the stuff

I thought of giving the drill car a controlled arm with a resource collector attached u can swoop over once in a while. and in default position its attached to the refining bot :) and what about like simple grabbing cage to kinda tuck in the rock and keep it in place

I would setup the collector as a Scorpion tail where it flips over the cab and lands in between the claws. Or put 2 on the side that stretch out then forward

I think a major improvement would be some way to swing the resource collector forward or something to pick up the resources while mining. As for the frame drops it makes sense. Those resource logs roll like crazy at the smallest of force, calculating all them might be hard on the system.

It might not be as pretty, but you should try swapping the seat and the pickup box so you can get the minerals off the ground without having to drive more than half your vehicle over it lol.

Make the container swing over like a scorpion tale or dozer (same as drill movement) to get the pickup.

I've been trying to get those drills machine going, but it seems that the hammer is way more fuel efficient than anything. I will probably do a piston driven shaft for the drills. Because right now, fuel consumption is way too high for my taste, at least until we have some kind of slippers or a way to build a submarine kind of vehicle

For the unrefined pieces laying on the ground why don’t you build another arm that’s kinda down the centre or the vehicle that can pick up the pieces with a collected that gets positioned by the arm. Than you can take the collected in the arm move it back towards the refine bot and it will refine automatically.

The big boy bot and tape bots arrive when you plant broccoli and pineapple but you have to get to the top floor of the warehouse to get those seeds so don’t worry about it

To fix the FPS issue, make a drilling rig with the harvesting boxes up front (right behind the drills) so they catch the minerals directly. I usually put the driver seat right beside the box.

I noticed that the refine bin picks up from the top/bottom pieces. If you put it on the truck vertically, you might get better autocollection. Only downside is the higher center of gravity, but it looks really stable anyways.

It would be more efficient if you put the supply storage in the front and you drive in the back. That way while your cutting or drilling the resources straight to your storage.

Put a resource collecter on a piston arm to collect from over the drills directly.

hi! me and a friend start playing it last friday on multiplayer i already play for like 2 hours before LOL, but we did each one miner car, mine actually are one all in one style with saws too, but my friend design had to arms that grab rocks and one drill in middle with pistons to smash then all, well my design has only one drill that i move down and up, but his design is really more efficient and i dismantle mine to reuse parts (we are poor in the game right now hehe) i will talk to her about use more drills in the arms itself, and mine car goes to lumberjack only... we use a separeted cart to collect and refine stuff, but may i change collector in vehicle it self and cargo just handle the refinery, looks better and i guess this resolve some of our flips because of low weight in vehicles itself. grab design are awesome with drills on it will be much better

How do you get the pistons to fire and the final segment to squeeze to parallel? Is there a second controller that controls pistons and final bearings, attached to the button?

Luckily they have greatly improved stability and they game has not crashed in survival yet.

Next time show us your failures too. They are JUST as interesting, if not more, than the successes! :) We can all learn from it. (of course the fail portion of the vid could be a fast montage edit ;) )

You don’t need glass tubes between your chests. If they are connected by their attachment node, you can use all their resources in the craft bot and have more pipes to complete the loop
