What can we expect of the state created by the Emperor? He ran around in a giant gold-plated suit of power armor, with gold-plated custodians, and now chills on his golden throne in the middle of a gold palace. To have his Imperial Guardsmen not wearing gold would be heresy.

if i had to make a list of my favorite armies, number one would be Orks and number two is Imperial Guard. and i am very pleased to see you made a speed paint video of both the guardsman models AND the ork boys because those are practically in every army for both so it helps alot haha! they look amazing too! im very happy to have found this channel when i did

Kudos to Ant for being so entertaining that was a fun wee video, I laughed especially at the idea of that chap losing his lasgun, if you are a Cadian up against sayyyy Tyranids and you drop your lasgun you literally have the fighting prowess of a walking pork chop, that would be terrifying!

Actually, in firearms terminology, "furniture" would refer to the stock and grips. What you commonly call the "casing" would actually be the receiver. And for your first time painting on camera, Ant, you did a smashing job. 10/10 would watch again.

Nice way to paint cadians, I paint my ad mech similarly, spray red, pick out the wood leather silver and bronze bits, wash and highlight and done

My top tip for Cadians is 2 layers of spray undercoat. I do 1 and mask off with blobs/lines of blutac and the spray a 2nd colour for a very lazy and organic looking camo.

My lad does Cadians in a traitor guard unit, a really big unit. He was inspired by the blood pact troops in the Gaunt's Ghosts. I did him a couple of squads of Vets and included back packs and the like for them to stand out with either the shovels or picks from the spare bits. Nice work on the eyes by the way. One of the few painters I have seen who makes the iris fit the whole of the white of the eye so they look angry and surprised.

Actually I too find Death Guard Green to be a very good military grey-green. I don't paint Death Guard but I do find myself using the paint on quite a lot of my miniatures.

i like to paint the entire lasgun black, and then heavily drybrush leadbelcher or runefang steel. Looks almost like modern carbon steel firearms.

Hacker tip: Would be even faster if you undercoat them in deathworld green (they make that spray too)

I think the reason behind doing Zandri Dust first was that the trickier bits (the recessed armour plates) are easier just to prime, shade, and forget. The green parts are easier to get to in this scheme :)

you can even do it quicker, use the death guard green spray, leave the armour green. and after the dip wash do the sandrie dust :) also I hate to say it but there is a bit armour on the front of the boots haha nice job

I like the normal Tan Uniform and Green Armor for my Gaurdsmen but I also go a bit extreme and add a lot of weathering and they come out a dirty brownish tan and scratched green armor Might try the green style for a special squad?

Interesting, I paint my guardsmen while they are still on the sprue and finish with a brushed on black wash but it's always nice to see someone elses method

@@pianomanwithapianoplan504 it makes it easier to get hard to reach areas and then you just take them off the sprue clean the area and paint that little mark its more of a high detail thing rather than a speed paint.

I saw "Canadian Shock Troops" and I wondered, "WTH???" Then I heard you say, "Warhammer and CADIAN" and I thought, OK, not Canadians. I can't imagine what Canadian Shock Troops would look like or how they would act! Canadians are generally so polite and pleasant natured people.

We actually already filmed one, a 500 point game between Orks and Ultramarines, classic match-up, but there were technical difficulties which unfortunately shelved the episode, sad times. It was amazing too, right down to the wire. We'll have to organise a REMATCH!

Out of curiosity, after the wash why not do the final dry brush before tidying up the armour plates? Seems as though if there is any overbrush you can clean up the armour without going back over it?

You could do! We just tend to find that these particular models are pretty forgiving, so you can do them in this order :)

I dont know if its you camera/ editing process, but alot of your minis end up looking kind of dark. I have some T’au that i want to make bright orange, but im not sure how agrax earthshade/ dry brushing will affect the brightness of the orange. So for your next tutorial could you do you a brighter model? Ps: you should have more of your friends make videos with you, and share how they do their armies!

I do tend to make things a little "grimdark", that's just my style. These guys are also a little gritty and grimy, but we think it suits the aesthetic. If you're looking for bright, vibrant schemes, Next Level Painting is one of the masters of that look :)
