In this video I guide you through how I speed painted or used speed painting to paint a Grimdark Grim Dark Warhammer Assault Intercessor Space Marine from the IMPERIAL FISTS Space Marine Chapter. This how to paint guide is part of a mini series I'm doing where I plan to paint every popular Space Marine chapter in a grim dark style.

As well as the moisture trap on your compressor, add an inline one too - that should help with the water. I add my inline one straight after the quick connector on the hose

That's so effective! I was wondering about the streaking grime and if you can do a watered down paint on initially. Then you wouldn't have to take off as much in the first removal stage? It's probably hard to see the effect of this on a video though?
@SlayerMiniatures
@SlayerMiniatures 9 ай бұрын
Yeah some people do that and use it as a wash in the recesses. I use it all over as it stains the paint underneath too. And you can see how much you want to remove and leave behind.

Would a coat of Agrax Earthshade be a good alternative to the Streaking Grime enamel?
@SlayerMiniatures
@SlayerMiniatures 23 күн бұрын
Agrax can't be cleaned up so it wouldn't work the same at all. The gw washes also leave tide marks and stain the paint underneath meaning you need to tidy it up after. Which what I did...imagine you have thrown mud on the model and are washing away the areas you don't want to have mud. Using agrax is like throwing dye on the model and trying to wash it off. It won't work as the dye will stain the paint.

Absolutely loving the look of these! how many layers of the imprerial fist paint do you apply? Mine come out in a lot lighter/colder yellow than yours. any tips on that ?
@SlayerMiniatures
@SlayerMiniatures 4 ай бұрын
Glad you liked it. Yeah I would add another layer if I was you. It will he much more rich in colour with two layers. You might be able to see in the video mine is quite pale when you initially apply it and I keep applying it until it's a richer colour. I use the airbrush to dry the first layer with just air. Then apply a second layer over the top. Hold that helps

I've been following this tutorial and it's worked quite well, except when I use your technique to fix mistakes, the imperial fist yellow looks green underneath. No idea why it's doing that for me. Yours seems to still be yellow, have you experienced this before?
@SlayerMiniatures
@SlayerMiniatures 6 күн бұрын
That is unsual. It maybe that you needed to apply a few layers of yellow to the fixed areas. I'm guessing the grime has stained the white in the fix. If the fix had numerous yellow layers it won't be able to penetrate through to the white. It could also he that you haven't got varnish over the mistake areas? I havent had it happen personally. Hope that helps!

@SlayerMiniatures

Did you varnish before applying it? It sounds like you either have the wrong one (there are a few different ones) or it's reactivated your yellow layer and maybe mixed in with it? I'm not sure why it's turned out green! Hope that helps

Hello Slayer, and everyone else! i was wondering how i can do the streaking grime method without ruining my paintjob? every time i use streaking grime and the reductive method my paint always rubs off, i am very gentle with the pressure and i always vanish my model. Maybe my thinner is too strong or the q-tip are too rough?? i use Tamyia X20-A thinner. i have tried and failed so many times. i've even let my paint and varnish properly cure for over 24 hours before. yet the paint still rubs off quicky. if anyone have any tips or clues Pls help a fellow Warhammer out xD thank you.
@SlayerMiniatures
@SlayerMiniatures 23 күн бұрын
Oh that's lame! If you have varnished and let the it all dry then it must be the thinner you are using or you are being too rough with the tips. Googling the thinner I think it must be that. You are using an acrylic thinner the chemicals in that are clearly dissolving the varnish and paint. For the grime and oil wash stage you need to be using white spirit aka mineral spirits aka mineral turpentine. Its used to clean brushes used in decorating. It's super cheap and evaporates quickly which is why it's good with oils. Hope that helps

This could definitely just be a new thing, and sorry if it is, but all of the box sets of Marines I’ve gotten so far have had the needed Imperial Fists decals.
