Franny, you forgot to show the most important step after spending all that time cleaning and polishing and waxing your vehicle. You need to take it for a short drive so that people can see the end result of all the work you put into it (maybe you did after the video). A short trip up to the store would suffice. And I always try to look for the dirtiest dark colored car to park next to so mine will really pop. Great work.

Nice opening intro shot! Actually, I think you two have some of the best production quality out there in KZfaq land. Nice camera work, and the car work too! You're always on topic (except for the Blue Jay info, I hate Blue Jays, they kill tweety birds in the spring when nesting/mating), image is always sharp and in-focus, camera angles where they maximize the view and effect, perfect lighting, audio, etc.. Nice job on the car too! lol
@HeidiandFranny
@HeidiandFranny 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Normally all the little birds run them out of Dodge in the Spring. The Jays show up for just a few minutes before the alarm sounds! They are usually only here a day or so before making their way up hill. There were around for longer this fall because everybody else had already retired to their winter homes down South. They are LOUD! Glad the filming is working inside. We put up a TON of new lights. That car kept throwing the white-balance off...

Hi, love the series you've on this Speedster. I'm not much of a Porsche guy but have always had a soft spot for Speedsters. They're so elemental, like vintage motorbikes. As someone said, we all have our favorite products but it was nice to see your favorites and your techniques. I picked up a few tips to try. Out of curiosity, have you ever tried Simichrome metal polish? I've used it forever on bare alloy (aluminum) motorbike cases. You're right about the vintage "patina" thing for sure, keep up the good work. Cheers

Most of us car gals and car guys will have a certain set of products we swear by. I had the same experience on chrome before (like you had on the hubcaps) and finally found some mildly abrasive wax that did well. Then finished them with 100% carnauba. I tend to use products now that are partly synthetic and partly natural carnauba. Seems to last longer. I had a show car that I drove to shows - I used something on the brake and gas peddles at the show and had "fun" driving home - you offered great advice: "don't do that." Great video. Thanks!

Good Monday morning! The Speedster looks great , good job. Since you didn't seem to think the chrome was that great I have an inexpensive product for you to try... Quick-Glo It's been around a long time and is amazing stuff. I saw it on Leno's garage and haven't used anything else since.... The Chrome on my 66' Chevelle looks like it was Re-chromed.....Have a Great Day!

Great Video. I love how meticulous you are with everything you do. Great video production highlighting the imperfections on the car paint. Great hints on sequencing the detail of the car. I.e. rubber trim etc I’ve actually tried some of the Adams products you’re using and was very satisfied. I’ve never used alcohol. I’m going to have to try that. The car came out amazing.
@HeidiandFranny
@HeidiandFranny 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex! Someone mentioned that the alcohol might have been a bit strong for single part paint. It seemed fine, but they mentioned it can soften the paint. Just thought I would let you know... Worked fine for me though... Probably should use it on a small panel first as a test. Maybe dilute it with deionized water F

Congratulations, great work and video as usual! Curious how long your wax "lasts for a while" means for you, a year or two, or even longer for vintage cars kept in a garage?
@HeidiandFranny
@HeidiandFranny 5 жыл бұрын
Gosh, it depends so much on what the car is exposed to... It does last a year or more on our lessor used cars, but if you are washing a few times a month and using harsher shampoos, it would only last a few months. Depends on prep as well...

In regards to the wizard metal renew... Isn't is possible that the issue with the chrome is not so much about what wizards can do, and maybe more about the quality of the chrome job itself? Ive seen huge differences in quality of chrome jobs from one company to another. Was curious about how the dulled area on the door and rear arches turned out after buffing. I know you had to be careful due to thickness issue but how much did it improve those areas? Great to see thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that. Probably best to dilute it a bit more as you suggest. I'll do that in the future. One important point though - Never spray on the paint. Add to your MF towel first and never to hot paint. Thanks again for your post. Franny

@@HeidiandFranny I do that and I find that it immediately dulls the paint, requiring an immediate polish. It may depend on single stage paint type I guess.

Looks like that car has a bunch of body filler in it, pretty shody body work at Best for that type of car. You should have clay bar the whole car. You do all that other work why don't you take a hubcaps off and do the whole wheel there's probably all kinds of dirt behind there which runs out when it gets wet.
