We modify and install the Spektrum Temperature Sensor (SPMA9571), and set up the Telemetry information on the ix20 Transmitter.
The Temperature sensor comes with 20" long wire leads, which are to short in some cases to connect to where your receiver is installed. In this video we'll lengthen those wire leads, and prove that it works.

Thank you for saving me a bunch of time on my H9 60cc P51!!! It was dead sticking due to heat issues and I installed baffles and need to now monitor head temp. Btw awesome Saito twin setup on your taildragger!!!

Thanks for the video and pulling the sensor apart, looks like an easy make to buy a sensor. The only tricky thing is working out what the plug used at the receiver is :)

only thing i can think of is that you're only measuring the outside cylinder temp of one of the cylinders. i don't know if spektrum can support multiple thermisters, but you really wanna add one to the other cylinder. Also, i wouldn't put it on the front as that's in the airflow, you would want to put it on the back of the cylinder imho as that's going to be where most of the heat will end up.

I am not sure how to get a second TEMP input using this Rx. But I agree, it would be nice to have an input from both. Also, I do mention and show towards the end of the video that I install the thermistor to the rear of the cylinder head, and only the leading wires were sticking out the front and snugged up and held in place with another piece of shrink tube (just for the video, I will re-dress them in nicely later when I go to put the cowl on.

Enjoy every one of your vids. So clear and helpful to the new enthusiast. Just wish there were many more of them. Just bought a used Dynam Waco that has a Lemon receiver and GPS unit in it and nervous about how reliable it is. Wonder how tough it would be to buy a cable and try Forward Programming the Spektrum 631 in my Mini Apprentice into the Dynam? Searching the net and not finding a whole lot on putting a Spektrum receiver into a Dynam. I have a DX-9 transmitter. Any info would be appreciated..

I do not have a lot of experience with Lemon Rx's. Thus far, I have used Spektrum exclusively. Although, I am open to try and learn new technologies. I too have a Dx9... LOVE IT. Make sure your DX9 has the latest firmware update. Also, make sure your receiver has the latest updates (if it can be updated). I would recommend you invest in the AR637T. Yes, I know they are expensive - but consider it both cheap plane insurance, and a dose of confidence too. They are easy to program, and are better than doing a heart Transplant from one plane to another. As for how many videos I have - well we are working on more. As of right now, I don't get fed a lot of free or early access products like other channels do to promote (although I have on occasion - and I'm working on trying to get more) mostly the things I do, are things I have to pay for. I am trying to make more content so I can earn some revenue from youtube to help buy more stuff. Its hard though - by the time I can afford to get stuff, the bigger channels that get early access stuff for free before anyone else can even buy it, have already made videos promoting the product, which leaves channels like mine struggling for viewership and new subscribers. So I am trying to be clever and come up with some content that people will actually watch, but also adds value on top of what is already out there on youtube. I hope that makes sense. You've given me some things to think about and I'll try to make some more beginner level stuff on this subject of Transmitters and Radios - which is what I really like messing around with. Let me know how things go!

@@RCSafari What a SWEET reply!! I don't care about the rankings of You Tube pilots!! It is about seeing PASSION from someone sharing information on this hobby we love!! You make me smile while watching every second. I feel like I am proud of YOUR knowledge and intensity!! I can see your "wheels" turning as you are trying to get your temp sensor in the right place on the gas engine, but really wondering about how you are going to get the dang thing to idle right.. Watching you fly er, the look on your face.. PRICELESS!! I will let you know how this whole Dynam adventure goes. Over the winter I'll bring it in and see how the Lemon and GPS seems to work. Thinking Spektrum change-over with SAFE will def be my best bet though. Fell in love with your style when you added that SAFE to your big fighter!! ;) Showed you off to a guy at work that is a new enthusiast, and he was impressed as well.. well maybe not quite as much as myself.. ;)

Excellent job on this video and this is just what I need to do for sensing heat on my DLE 120... extend the sensor length. Do you think adding wire length will change the reading of the prob?

Thanks for very informative video. do you have the same about rpm sensor? I have ix12 and the same receiver and engine too :) Never connect rpm before ..... Thank you in advance

Is 7200 the engine Red Line? If so, you want your static max rpm only 86% (maybe 90%) of redline, cuz the engine will over-rev while at cruise {{just sayin ...}}

Manual States that with a 22x10 Prop, RPM range should reach aprox 6400-7200 RPM.

I just took the engine apart and just wrapped it over and through the ribs on the cylinder. They also sell extensions of those cables. On my FG21 the hottest I have had it running while working on airflow through the cowl was around 280 tops You should be running your engine at around 220 degrees Fahrenheit

Need more detail. What is the brand and model of the Heli? Have you tried calling customer service for the Manufacture or your Local Hobby Shop for help?
