well if we put the barriers down any longer its a waste of peoples time, what if someone has to deliver a baby? and the gates go down and they have to wait 5 minutes until the actual train comes, that's insufficient! Just make the gates go down 30 seconds before the train comes (like here) and everything will be fine.

mj0820 Train Productions Well, maybe it has to do with the fact that in the country I am coming from, all cars without exception used manual transmissions. If you stall a car on the track, and you have only 30 secons to move away, you are likely to either lose your car, or your car and your life. With 5 minutes to spare, you not only can save your life, but also push out your car out of the track. If you don't have 5 minutes to spare in your day, that means the day has most likely been miserable anyway. We don't really deliver babies on daily basis. Maybe one or two in lifetime. But since we want infrastructure this flexible geared for immediate babies delivery, we may kill more people on the level crossings than we deliver babies. I usually have at least half an hour spare when I go to work, to make sure I am not late, and that I am not stressed by rushing. If you try to make the gate before you're rushing to work, you simply destroy your health due to stress. Trust me, it might work for some time, but later in life you'll be paying for it.

Most of our RR crossing in the US only have the gate on the side that you are driving in unlike most other countries where both directions are blocked, essentially "trapping" the car. I'm saying most because I believe a few do block both sides but the second pair of gates wait a bit before coming down to give the vehicle a few crucial seconds to escape. :D

California's drivers are far better than Arizona's drivers & the worst of the worst drivers are those from Mexico that drive slower than a hearse driver in a funeral procession, the slow poke drivers from Mexico go extremely slow on our country's highways that they make a hearse driver look like an Indy 500 race car driver. I spent half of my life in California and unfortunately I live in the damned Sh@thole Loser City Tucson metro area where Pothole dodging is a sport and so is tailgating. When stopped at a red light and/or a stop sign Arizona drivers are right at the very most less than a foot from your back bumper, they are right on your back bumper ready to hit you on purpose. Arizona's drivers are the very worst one in the nation, they blame California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Nevada & Washington state drivers for being bad.

Horizon and Amfleets. Around 10 Horizons and Amfleets are assigned to LA at any time. A fleet also is in NorCal for the Comet sets cafe cars, and most Horizons are assigned to the Midwest services. Also, Amfleet IIs are on all single-level long-distance trains.

They're great in cities next to the ocean! In inland cities like Vista, it's not as good but still beautiful!

The coaster line and metrolink both meet at the oceanside station. metrolink handles the north up to LA, and coaster handles it down to San Diego

Wilfred 04 Gaming Metrolink is in all of South California, Coaster is San Diego to Oceanside, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner is San Diego to LA, Sprinter is only Oceanside, ran by Coaster.

Metrolink and Coaster also share the same yard north of Oceanside, called Stuart Mesa Yard. The San Luis Rey River bridge by the Oceanside harbor offers some of the best train watching in Southern California. Amtrak, Metrolink and deadheading Coasters all share that track.

Pacific Surfliner is part of Coaster, I thought it was part of Amtrak.

Amtrak is an American passenger railroad. It is the only cross country train in the country. If you get the chance, you should take one of the trains, it is amazing especially the ones in California!!
