I am blessed to live in a small cabin of my own! I live high in the mountains of Colorado. I’m around 11,000ft. and I couldn’t love it more! I am also a female who lives alone and is about 45 min to the nearest store. I’m 36 and already have the life I dreamed of! Thank you for being such a positive role model for a lot of women. We are capable of so much more then many of us realize! I loved seeing the close ups of your dog! She is ADORABLE!

Wow. And here I am not even a fan of cold climate. But, as short term goal..I want to at least rent a cabin, maybe not in the winter, maybe near spring. I just like how the place is peaceful, relaxed.. maybe near by a lake or something. Just to unplug.. relax (work has been too much lately, 12hrs almost every day.

Girl in the Woods, my father and mother bought 3 acres in 1980. Fast forward to today my wife, daughter, and one of my granddaughters bought the property from my 4 siblings. My wife and I are going to have a 12x28 cabin built by a stream running through our property. We are 70-73 and plan on staying up there from early spring until mid-to-late fall. I don’t know how meany years we have left but we are going to enjoy every moment up there. My daughter is more like you. She will go up there until the snow is to deep it is impossible to get in. We are Christian too and warmed my heart. Thank you for your video. I have prescribed to your channel. May God continue to bless you.

@@Cindy-Williams - I gave 'em the benefit of the doubt, that they thought 'the weird name' was just somebody 'playing with their keyboard' when they picked their screen-name (a few people do that - but I'm familiar with the Cyrillic alphabet so I knew it was a 'real' name). So I just referenced them being Russian to help make my point. I'll bet their reaction was along the lines of 'what is somebody from Russia doing following some random lady in the woods?' It is a bit odd, but I've had odd-ball stuff pop up in my viewing list, too. And the Russian lady may have really identified with the lady & the video; I've seen scenes shot in Russia that looked just like this. Might have made Elena Kovaleva kinda wistful for a cabin on the edge of the woods!

I cant tell you how much i want a quiet 3+ hour video of being in one of these cabins/gypsy wagons with a view of the snow falling outside. Just the ambient noise of the stove crackling and whatever nature is outside. Even a gentle rain storm would be nice. Perfect chill video. I'd have that on every single day.

There is. Finding a cave to stay in, and being safe. Or building an igloo, I found that hard work but so worthwhile and secure, as well as being much more warming than a built cabin. Both the cave and the igloo bring you closer to the way of life of the first humans as the Ice Ages were withdrawing from Europe. Mind you there is a chap in Slovenia who built a two roomed cabin half buried in the ground, and used no power tools at all.

Your little cabin reminds me of the cabin my Dad built for me when I was about 12 years old. It was only about 100 feet from the main house but it was my little world. My Grandpa gave me a tiny cast iron stove that was perfect for the space. I spent hundreds of hours in that cabin while I was in middle school and high school.

I made something similar in our back woodlot, using cedar fence rails we removed to enlarge our fields. I had a cast-iron stove but it didn't like to give off much heat.

Brook, you need to build a covered porch/vestibule so you have a place to shake off the snow, put a shovel, store some wood and dust off Mazy. Then, it will give you a little more living space.

I’ve actually just come upon these videos and now I am addicted! Coming from England, I'd never heard of a Reuben before and had to look it up on Google. Your sandwich looked so delicious, that I wanted to try it, but I've never seen sauerkraut in the supermarkets. I eventually got a large bottle from the Polish section. My daughter and I now eat it at almost every meal. I'm so impressionable! 😂

We had a collie and she was named Lady. She was wonderful and loved the outdoors, she always got that snow all over her. I had a friend tell me about her childhood collie. She said she would walk to school, the dog followed and waited outside all day for her to walk back home. They're really incredible dogs.

When I was 5 yrs.old I got a collie.Her name was Lassie. we moved close to the city and Daddy didn't want to keep her tied. We took her to my Aunt's farm. A old couple lived across the way and Lassie loved them.My aunt asked me if she could stay with them.I thought it was a great idea.Lassie loved her life with the old couple.I would visit her when we went to the farm.Lassie always came running to me as I called.what memories of my first 🐕🐶. BTW....I just found your group.I do believe the Lord brought me.🙏

I have a part miniature collie named Lady! She's all white and loved jumping in the snow. She's old now with arthritis, almost 17 now, but I used to love watching her in the snow

I once took one of my daughters on a walk on a snowy night. I told her to stop and just listen. I don’t know if it meant anything to her, but I had no idea snow wasn’t silent when it fell.

@@kathyteso9331 You know you're in the right spot when you can hear the snow. I've traveled all over America and been on some amazing hikes. Northwest Wyoming in dead of winter. Couldn't see 50 feet but it was amazingly calm and I can still hear the sound today. That was 27 years ago, don't do much anymore. 30 years of ironwork, broken neck and broken back, bad knee lol. Cold goes right through me anymore but I'll never forget that evening and the sound.

I told Dave on the other link to make a HOLE in the floor below the STOVE DOOR and put a piece of 4 inch Flexable DRYER VENT PIPE in it to bring fresh AIR in for the stove. Then warm AIR is NOT Sucked into the wood stove. Plug it with RAGS to control AIR Flow. Also Get a 5 Gallon Bucket with lid to Pee into in Nighttime. Dump it on small trees the next day. Don't walk in cold snow. Also stack a couple used TIRES and put firewood in the HOLE and split it all so it does not flyaway when it splits. Easy to TIE with small rope to carry it all together. Bless you

Winter is my favorite season. Wrapping up in a sweater, coat, scarf, boots and gloves. The sky is so blue. Nothing compares to taking in a deep breath of cold air. The sound and feel of snow beneath your feet. I love how quiet the world becomes when it’s blanketed in those awesomely wonder snowflakes❤️🥰. Life is good😊

@First Last You would have to have something wrong upstairs to live like that and being a woman to boot. She has no curtains on the windows and any Psycho could be watching her. The worst part is she lets her dog out all alone at night. There could be wild animals roaming around and could kill her dog. I have a 125 pound huge German Shepherd and I would never let him out alone, especially in the wilderness. Craziness!!

@Zioptis I guess it depends on the dog. All the dogs I know would be just fine with just about anything out there, other than a porcupine...but they'd only do that once...if they are bright. Bears might be a concern, but not likely in most regions. And bears would rather avoid such confrontations. A moose would be the biggest concern and they are even less likely to be about than bears in most decently populated parts of the US.

I am the opposite, left WI for the amazing south.. North Carolina... land of mountains, waterfalls and beaches. I came up here to WI for the birth of my 27 yr old’s 3rd child and I’ve been stranded here due to weather. It’s so depressing.. I would get SAD all winter, no matter what I did. Never ever coming back lol I own my grandma’s little home in upper MI since she died a year ago 😭 and we love going back but in late Spring and summer. The Blue Ridge Mountains are in my soul I could never leave them, I just wish I hadn’t of spent so much time up in Wisconsin.

When I lived in Maine. I had a woodstove and a cabin in the woods too. When I lost electricity, it was AMAZING for everything: heat, hot water, cooking and amazing ambiance sleeping on the floor with my dogs. xoxo

I've lived in Maine on and off since 2001. I've been camping in some very scary places but neve really was scared. Maybe cause I was with a few others. Maine is so beautiful.

I love the woods, Love the north, love the winter and snow. ah after watching for a few minutes, If memory does me right, I do believe I watched your hubby build this cabin fall 2020, Michigan? I'm in Ontario, now Nov.14-2023, live off grid in a forest 17 years, can't wait for the winter and snow. It is very romantic, not in the context of relations between woman and man, but with nature! Try being many miles from civilization, not a few hundred feet! No noise, no light pollution, no people!! I'm in my mid sixties, will die here, not in an old age home...cheers..

Another awesome thing the Good Lord helped me stumble upon and oh how I needed this video to help me calm down and find some inner peace. Days can be so chaotic but time spent in a warm cabin on a cold winters day just soothes the soul like nothing else. Thank you for taking us all along with you and sharing this wonderful experience.
