@zawardo2229 not sure if trolling but even though the moxes are colorless cards they have a color identity and can't be used in colorless decks. Same is kinda true of command tower though since it wouldn't tap for any mana XD

@@captainfalcon7721 They can because of how the ruling of what colourless colour identity is. A colourless deck is for the purposes of colour identity WUBRG so it could play every Mox.

That’s not how that works. The point is that if Command Tower didn’t exist, then you would have to make an actual choice of which land to run in that spot (Pro Tip: Lands are literally cards in your deck, and they matter. Despite the ignoramuses who claim otherwise, and yet they always miss their land drops because they don’t know how to build a proper mana base)

@@Muhahahahaz I worded it poorly, but my point is that if you didn't have command tower that choice would probably just be run a basic. While sol ring replaces an actually interesting choice that you have to make. While command tower does commit the same offense as sol ring, it's nowhere close to being as bad because a specific land isn't as important of a choice.

I’m pro-Command Tower but anti-Sol Ring (and anti-fast mana in general). Command Tower is good because it’s one less untapped dual/multicolored land people have to shell out more than $1 for. And it doesn’t go in every deck, it’s not good in monocolor/colorless decks

Wholeheartedly agree, Command Tower takes up a land slot. It can only be replaced by a less efficient mana source. Sol Ring is a always a viable cut though if you want your deck to have more consistency.

@@ashenwuss1651 In a singleton format with a large deck size there are ALWAYS going to be staple cards that rise to homogeneous levels. If not sol ring and command tower, it will become something else. Better it be commonly circulated cards that are reasonably priced rather then stuff you can't afford.

Each staple is one less cool card to choose in the deck. There should be some work put by the commander ruling team to "trim" the most expensive and most universal staples, specially if they have alternatives (with options) or are very swingy. Sol Ring should be banned. Arcane signet and command tower should first get a decent amount of low $price alternatives that aren't going to be in all decks and *then* they should be banned. I mean, command tower could just have given your opponents 1 life on etb and be just fine

If we're keeping color identity rules and introducing the moxen then for each color you don't have, your commander is nerfed. I mean it's already that way but 5 power cards would exaggerate that weakness SO much more.

My feedback as a TCC fan is there is not enough editing in the gameplay vids and this clip captures this perfectly. The gameplay gets lost in the banter, which often feels a bit forced.

I have to disagree with this sentiment when it comes to lands like Command Tower though. Sol Ring is a boring card that could be replaced by a fun and synergistic card if it wasn't so damned broken. Same goes for Arcane Signet. Command Tower, though? You'd just replace it with another fixing land, and it would just be a worse option. I'll draw my Tainted Peak and say "I wish this made green mana" or my City of Brass and say "I wish this didn't hurt me every turn." It wouldn't be more fun, just worse

The "makes decks one card less" argument falls flat when you realize that 1) your deck needs mana sources, 2) Command Tower can quite comfortably replace any baaic land already in your deck, and 3) there's no rule requiring you to have Command Tower/Sol Ring in your deck.

My mono Black Deck has no command tower, and no Sol Ring. Matter a fact, it hast only swamps. There might be a swamp with a marker written „Sol Ring“ on it, same with „Mana Vault“ an various other card names suitable for a Tegrid EDH Deck, but that‘s hardly worth to mention.

I like Sol Ring in EDH precisely for its "unfair" ability to put a player ahead of everyone else in the first few turns. It adds an element of chaos and unpredictability, encourages interaction in the early stages of the game, it's cheap and readily available for everyone to use, and promotes political play should players have to unite against a common enemy that is too far ahead.

You know, a card that reads like this, wouldn't really be a functional reprint: Crystal Mox Artifact {0} A deck can't contain a Crystal Mox and a Pearl Mox. Crystal Mox enters the battlefield tapped {T}: Add {W} So with a trick like that we could have cheaper, available versions of the power nine. Valid even in legacy

Aside from the price point, which like the Prof. says could be fixed, Moxes unbanned would be a buff to 5-color decks. Imagine if your deck could play one more sol ring for every color in its identity?

Command tower gets used in pretty much infinitely less decks than sol ring, I have no need to run it in a mon color deck. But sol ring is literally one of the first cards that goes in any deck I make

See I get the feeling behind it. Being a yugioh player I'm used to staples taking up to 1/4th of the deck. BUT 1) there are decks that don't use sol ring, it's just really good. And 2) command tower only really changes the ammount of basic lands the deck runs, you are more likely to cut a basic land for CT long before you think of cutting a spell

With nonland staples (like Sol Ring, funnily enough) I see Prof's point, but I don't really think staple lands are a problem, you're always going to have a certain amount of lands so Command Tower is just replacing a basic rather than something that could be more unique.
