As a Singaporean who stayed in Australia for 6 years, I remember seeing “Singapore Noodles” on so many menus and even sold as instant meals in Coles and Woolies. @@Heath_Rubbadubdub I’m glad you found it. Does it compare to your Mom’s recipe?
@Heath_Rubbadubdub
@Heath_Rubbadubdub 2 жыл бұрын
@@KB-ct7th nah. Mom doesn’t use peas or celery or really tomato paste for the dish. For our version of Shepard’s pie: it’s not runny like most. Obviously we cook the meat with garlic and onions, add spices when needed. But we layer ours in a big glass pan. Ground beef on the bottom, next layer atop is steamed sliced carrots, next is a layer of mash potatoes, and then on top is a layer of cheese. All cooked in the oven. It was something we had most of the time since it could feed us for like a week when we didn’t have much money to go off of when I was little. BUT, that’s not to say that I don’t try other Shepard’s pie and don’t like them. I do! Just nothing has ever beaten mom’s/the family recipe for Shepard’s pie.
@KB-ct7th
@KB-ct7th Жыл бұрын
@@Heath_Rubbadubdub your Mom’s version is also more of what I’m familiar with. It is one of the perfect ‘all in one’. You get protein, vege, carbs and it’s filling. There are always things that are from childhood that, when prepared a certain way, bring fond memories back. It’s good you try new versions, but keep the one you like most.

I love your videos.. they inspire me to be better... My favorite dish is a hybrid dish.. burgundy beef tips and shepherds pie.. grill some NY strips.. rest well, chopped fine.. sauteed some onions, carrots,and mushrooms with thyme, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper to taste... Add the beef in to the veggies.. a little flour to thicken the sauce.. deglaze with beef bone broth and red wine.. bring to a simmer and cook low and slow till the beef is tender.. add some tomato paste.. stir well once you've reached your desired thickness in the sauce.. I use Yukon gold potatoes to make a chunky mash.. salt, pepper, heavy whipping cream and butter to mix in the mash.. throw your meat and veggie mix into a baking dish.. add the mash on top.. throw a little fresh thyme, rosemary, cracked black pepper and some shredded cheddar on top.. bake till cheese is nice and golden.. Viola.. thanks for being awesome..
