- Firefox Notes -
- When Spider-Man leaves the playable area and Is facing the outer parts of the Level, the Game triggers for Him to swing back. If You go down Into the Streets and face In towards the Level and do the Kick/Jump Combo..
You can continuously flip back out of the Level.
- If I turn to face to the left or right then the Game triggers for Spider-Man to swing back to the normal parts of the Level.
- You can do It In First Person Mode too. (Recommend)

If my 10 year old 2002 self saw this I would’ve been blown away. I can’t even imagine being a kid, going on the internet and seeing that someone did this. I would’ve felt like anything’s possible. I would’ve dreamed a little bigger. People have always done cool things, but rarely this cool.

This game is literally my childhood. Even my parents know “Circus in town”. Imagine people on the ground. There should be a mod to add the people from the Spider-Man 2 game into this.

When I was a kid, I always found it stupid how you can’t even go down to the ground without dying. Then it was a satisfying fix once the Spider-Man 2 game came out.

You have literally, singlehandedly brought my entire childhood back with this. You have no idea how LONG I have wanted to do this, or how many times I tried. I got close on Spider-Man 2 PSP (same engine as 2002 PS2 game), but just got to see what the street looked like. Thank you sir.

My five year old self wouldn't have ever imagined this would've been possible twenty years ago. It's crazy how time itself allows people to do so many crazy things in old games like this that you would've thought not possible at all! And I'm surprised and baffled at the amount of detail the developers put on stuff that's out of bounds as well!

The leap between ps1 ps2 was the most noticeable change .its not much difference between ps4 ps5 maybe every port runs at 60 fps but this was really impressive back then i still own the pc and game cube versions

When I first saw this I liked it very much and also thought that cars were real, some time later I looked at the cars and they looked kinda suspecious, some time later I thought that the cars only have topdown view but didnt had proof , then when I watched this video I got proof that the cars only have topdown view in this game, also, I always wanted to go down to the road, now I can see what it looks like! Man this game is so amazing 🤩

I kinda liked how this game looked better than spider man 2 on the same console, back then graphics couldn't be good if it was open world, only if it was mostly linear. It still somewhat happens today but to a lesser extent. Interesting times

Always wondered as a kid to be on the streets in this game. I figured that's what it would look like, the cars would be flat. Couldn't go on the streets in this only rooftops. Spiderman 2 you could go anywhere instead of missions be divided up by only levels.

Surprised how decent the ground looks from street level. Other than the cars they could've for sure gotten rid of the instant death when you approach the ground.

All 3 games where on the ps2 though so why would they handle differently? Was there ever a better ps2 released (a bit more powerful) and they only sold that new one otherwise I don’t understand the limitations when they eventually made it work on the same console.

@@Skinned_fried_n_cut_up_potato part of it was the rush for when the game was supposed to release. The guy who invented the swinging system for the sequel talked about that a bit somewhere on KZfaq... Activision was supportive of the new system but by the time they developed it they weren't going to have time to make it look good or be very functional so they opted to use what they had and focus on improving the sequel

@@christopherbucher7017 Also I'm pretty sure since the graphics looked better in SM1, in order to optimize it's gameplay they couldn't go with an open world game. SM2 cut back a bit on its graphic presentation to run the game well.

@@Skinned_fried_n_cut_up_potato"Limitations" is just a stock response whenever anybody dares to criticise an older game. As you say, SM2 was realised on the exact same consoles as this game, and there were loads of other games with expansive open worlds too such as GTA and True Crime. This game had relatively small levels. It was absolutely not down to hardware limitations that Spiderman couldn't swing down to ground level. It was more likely a rushed game on a bit of a budget.

Game still holds up imo, even graphically it was superior to Spider-Man 2. Just imagine the sequel if it had these graphics instead of the choppy cartoon-ish look we got in the finished product. As a kid, wanting to free-roam... this level as well as the initial fight with Goblin gave off a "free-roam" aspect despite it not being entirely free-roam. Still felt very big!

I remember buying this game almost 22 years ago,- yes, it's been that long. I always wondered what the entire city looked like. Wow. I'm blown away. I have always said the city in Spider-Man 1 looked better than Spider-Man 2. I wish the developers had kept it. One could only imagine how Spider-Man 2 would've turned out. Also, the city in Spider-Man 2 was supposed to have sewers as the Lizard was supposed to be a character in the game. Maybe if you mod it, you might find it.

This game was a great follow-up to the PS1 Spider-Man games. The addition of a progressively unlockable combo system, plus the power of the hither-to-then new-gen consoles was great.

Yeah SM1 had better graphics overall. SM2 shone because of its groundbreaking gameplay and physics based swinging, not the presentation. If anything it looked worse, but I doubt the game would've run well had it been as good visually as this one.

I would like to see a mod of all these cities levels stitched together and made competent of both city streets and buildings with hit detection with spider-man 2's crime fighting system. along with the leve;s main objectives. btw after 21 fucking years my dream is made reality. thank you

Lol I always wanted to do this as a kid. This i awesome. It would be cool if you could mod in actual working cars and characters to fight that would be so cool Edit:also, i completely forgot about that annoying fake glare. While it does give me nostalgia seeing it and remembering it, my god how annoying it is seeing it now lol. Its so distracting but i feel like back then it didnt bother me and i probably thought it just made it look more real lol

If this game was open world THIS Would be the Best in the Trilogy and would absolutely sh*t on Spider-Man 2. This Game has better everything than Spider-Man 2 just not Gameplay tho it is still Amazing. Still prefer it over the other 2 and Spider-Man 3 as my second favourite

@@LOMAZKO7 Gameplay is mainly the selling point of 2. The swinging is the only game to this day which is physics based, not even the Insomniac games fully commit to it in that aspect. While it's your opinion, which is fine, brushing off the gameplay aspect, which is a huge thing for a game, is kind of pointless.

At 8:23 there is an empty parking lot right there that if you notice, compared to the cars on the road, the parking spaces are like 4 times way too small lol. Not at all proportionate to th actually appearant size of the cars lol

Fun fact back in spider man 2002 it has secret cheat code that is unused name : FREEMAP then it turns it looks like similiar spider man 2 and spider man 3 and it would be free roam now 😂😂😂
