Miles Morales was always going to be Spider-man. Just not our Miles (1610). During The Spot's flashback, you can see that spider 42 was heading toward biting Miles Morales (42) when it was taken by the collideder. Actually, our Miles (1610) was going to become the Prowler. Thus is hinted at in the first movie. When Miles meets blond Peter (1610) and they spidey-sense each other, Peter's colors are the Spider-Man blue and red. And we see Miles's colors go from green and purple (the Prowler's colors) to match Peter's blue and red. And its hinted at through the way Miles movies. In the first movie he stated he was better atrunning than swinging. Through out both movies we see Miles abilities grow, from watching the other spider-people. Like in the "thread the needle" scene with Qwen. But it's not as natural for him as it is for the other spider-people, who wouldn't have had a mentor to observe. We even see it in the way Miles (42) moves, as it is much closer to Spiderman's movements instead of the Prowler. He actually does the exact same move when he comes on scene as The Prowler, that Peter does when he comes into his first scene. It becomes of Miles (1610) not moving as Spider-Man like, that he was able to get away from Migual and all the other Spider-people. First because they were anticipating him moving similar to them, which gave Miles the advantage of appearing unpredictable. And second, they kept getting into each other's way during the chase. And thats because they move/think similarly. And Miles(1610)becoming the Prowler tracks with his behavior and actions in the beginning of the first movie; tagging, trying to get out of the school, sneeking out, ect. Or just the way he looked up to Aaron

Hobie didn’t give her his watch, he built one - you can actually see him doing it while they’re on their way to meet Miguel. Miles comments on him tearing electronics off the panels, and Hobie tells him he should try making his own watch rather than relying on the Spider Society for it. He’s making one just in case, probably knowing how south things were heading.

At the beginning when Miles thinks about telling his parents that he is Spiderman he dismisses it by saying "Maybe in another universe" When he finally gets the courage to tell his mom it actually is in another universe I love this movie

I love how The Miles Prowler has a bit more of a spanish accent and it makes sense if his dad died and he was raised more by his mother. Just love the attention to detail.

One thing you don't realise until after the movie is that Gwen's monologue at the start when she says "I didn't mean to hurt him, but I did" isn't about the first movie, but what's coming in this movie.

The Director said that the reveal that Miles is the first anomaly is a meta-commentary on what led to the creation of the first Black Spider-Man. Some fans believe that Miles doesn't deserve his power or belong in the mask.

(lil fun fact I noticed while watching this that I've never noticed before, miles' mom's eye color is different in the other dimension as well. So if you did notice first watch, that's a clue. had a terrible sinking feeling seeing Peni appear and realize her deflated dour expression vs how happy and excited she was before meant she had experienced her canon event. Which in the comics was pretty fkn horrifying.

Miguel isn’t a vampire, he just has a more feral spider derived serum he got his powers from. His fangs are paralytic venom I believe. His “claws” are actually needles that come out of the pads of his fingertips like the kind on spider feet, not extensions of his fingernails.

When “to be continued” showed up at the end a guy in my theater screening actually yelled out, “WHAT THE F__k?!” 😂

Dude this movie was crazy in theaters dude. What an experience.

I even knew this was only a part of a continuing story going in but I forgot by the time the movie came out. I didn't mind the cliffhanger, it just sucks that the writers strike was around this time too. So just makes it longer before we get the next part. Not to mention rumblings of how the animators were treated during the creation of this one.

While there is some kind of love triangle but they definitely handled the Miles Gwen Hobie triangle differently than I expected. He definitely seems to want to help her and Miles both so the nature of that whole thing has me curious. But Hobie is definitely the MVP. And if Gwen and Miles don’t end up together I’m flipping tables. Also an interesting note in a cut scene of Into Spiderverse, Peter taught Miles to not focus on saving the world but to focus on just saving one person. Also If you notice when Mumbattan was “falling apart” it was one of Spot’s spots. My bet is when Miles and the heroes beats Spot that city will be saved. And I need Beyond now. Like right now.

Actually in earth 42 there is a big hint that that version of Miles was supposed to be Spider man. Earlier in the film when Spot talks about taking the earth 42 spider, there is an image of the spider next to a dreadlocked earth-42 Miles from behind before he’s snatched from that universe. The implication is that spider was about to bite that Miles. CORRECTION: “Braided” Miles not “dreadlocked”.

Here is a breakdown of spider Gwen timeline. She was spider woman for a year before Peter turned himself into a the lizard and he was killed. Then another year went by of animosity between Gwen and her father. After that Gwen got pulled into Miles Morales universe and became over the course of the 2 days the first Spider-Man into the spider-verse film takes place. Then for the next year she went back to her old lonely girl routine until the beginning of Spider-Man across the spider-verse opening scene. Where she would go on to traveling the spider verse with Miguel and the spider society until she finally ran back into miles after the villain the spot showed up.

So this movie was actually announced as a part one. But sometime before the marketing for it started, they dropped the "Part One" from the title and changed the title of the third film to Beyond. So even though it was announced as a part one, a LOT of people were caught off guard by the ending. I honestly love it, though. Not only does it build a LOT of hype, but you don't really think about the possibility of a cliffhanger ending until you closer to the end of film. Cliffhangers just don't really happen much in film, so it's always a massive surprise when it happens.

The fact that Across not only managed to OUTDO Into in terms of animation but also accomplished to what an even more amazing plot than the first one is insanely impressive 🗣️🗣️🗣️🥶🥶🥶❄️❄️❄️🧊🧊🧊

Some little lore insight into a few Spider-People: Miguel O'Hara (Earth-928) Miguel O'Hara the Spider-Man of Earth-928 active in the year 2099 as Spider-Man. He made his first debut in Spider-Man 2099 #1 (1992) introducing a possible alternate future reality of Prime Marvel, Earth-616 the Mainline Marvel universe. Within this reality the world was embroiled in a massive civil war between humans and mutants sometime during the Age of Hero's. Following years of fighting, the humans won the war, but suffered tremendous losses. Peter Parker as Spider-Man being one of the hero's killed during this conflict who's legacy would later be carried on by Miguel O'Hara decades later as Spider-Man of 2099. Hobart Brown (Earth-138) Hobart Brown the Spider-Man of Earth-138 was a rebellious teenager who fights against the fascist regime of President Ozzy Osborn with his Spider Army made up of everyday people wanting to fight for change. Fun fact in the Mainline Marvel Continuity of Earth-616 Hobart Brown was the original Prowler introduced in 1969. From being depicted as Black woman to having a more biker themed outfit it's a very interesting design change that works really well as a cool variant of an existing character, like the many variants of Loki. The Jessica Drew of the comics exists on Earth-616 on Marvel's Mainline Universe. She has a long complex history but overtime she became Spider-Woman. Comic Drew also got pregnant as well this being the bases of the pregnant variant we see in this film. Ben Reilly (Earth-94) The Ben Reilly we see in this film is also a variant like Spider-Woman but visually he's 100% the same as his Earth-616 counterpart just much more over the top, making fun of the very 1990s edgy comics at the time. Earth-94 is also a fun nod to his first appearance as The Scarlet Spider introduced in 1994. Ben himself is a clone of Peter Parker who dyed his hair blonde and went on to become The Scarlet Spider. Long story but he showed up in the Clone Saga in the 1970s when a villain Cloned Gwen after her death and also Peter Parker. The Peter Clone was "killed" but later returned in the 1990s Clone Saga and given the name Ben Reilly.

I loved this movie so much in theaters I didn’t got back to watch it because I was scared it wouldn’t stack up to my first watch. 41:30 I always love the somewhat misdirect of this moment. Even the music tells you this is the moment where Miles breaks away from the chase and escapes to go back home. This is the proud moment where he stands tall against Miguel and wins. But then the scene keeps going, and the music turns more ominous. And then we get the reveal of Miles being an anomaly (in Miguel’s eyes). Such an interesting little misdirect in the story.

Fun fact: Spot's new form is nicknamed "The Abyss" by the crew. His entire body seems to have been destroyed and replaced with dark matter, meaning he may be completely immune to physical attacks of any kind, almost like a god. He's definetly not the villain of the week anymore.

Since you were wondering, Hobie & Gwen are just friends. Here's my reasoning. Just on a practical level. If Gwen had had something happen b/w her and Hobie, she would feel guilty about it when she was with Miles. She has an avoidant attachment style when it comes to relationships, and the last thing she would want to do is is bring up a difficult thing like that which might threaten her friendship with Miles. That's just her nature. So there is no way in hell she would have voluntarily brought up Hobie in conversation with Miles, much less say that she "crashed at his place" and that Miles would "love him." If she and Hobie were/are a thing, she would not have wanted Miles to know that Hobie existed *at all*. But no, she talks up Hobie b/c it never even occurs to her it might make Miles jealous b/c she has never thought of Hobie as anything more than a teammate & friend. Once we meet Hobie, I could concede that maybe something happened b/w them if a) Their body language had any suggestion whatsoever beyond teammates and friends or if b) Gwen shied away from Hobie b/c Miles was there, feeling uncomfortable the entire time. But neither of those things happened. In those scenes, she and Hobie are friendly, but never even touch nor have a single awkward interaction b/w them suggestive of a once closer physical connection that Gwen is trying to hide. In fact, she doesn't touch Hobie at all during the entire movie. Aside from hugging her dad and giving Pav a shoulder bump, the only person she touches is Miles. And she touches Miles a lot. If Lord & Miller had wanted you to really think Gwen & Hobie had a relationship, they would not have neglected the body language that told such a story. As far as the jumper and toothbrush thing. Gwen is basically homeless. Unlike all the other Spiders, she doesn't have a dimension to return to. I'm sure she bounced around from friend to friend when she wasn't staying at Society HQ (a place she probably didn't want to stay at very much after finding out about canon events, how falling in love with Miles was a death sentence, how he could be never be a part of Spider Society, and how she could never see him again.) So she occasionally crashed at Hobie's place. And when you stay overnight, you bring clothes and a toothbrush. (You'll notice she left her jumper in Miles room too. It's kind of a habit of hers.) Finally, there's a couple of charming bits that a lot of people miss. Hobie instantly recognizes Miles despite never having met him before. This suggests that Gwen has talked about Miles a lot with her friend. So much so that Hobie has nicknames for the both of them. He calls Gwen "Gwendy" and he calls Miles "Peter Pan" after the famous couple from the classic fantasy novel. Those are just the practical reasons why Hobie & Gwen were never a thing. But the biggest proof, imo, is the Clocktower scene. On the clocktower Miles asks Gwen how he is different from Hobie. Her answer is the "In every other universe, Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man..." speech. This is Gwen's way of saying that the difference between him and Hobie is that she has feelings for Miles. But then right afterwards, as she sees Miles taking this as a sign to maybe hold her hand, she has to tell him that when she falls in love with Spider-Man, things "never end well." By that she means: Gwen Stacy dies. She's afraid to die, so she can't fall in love with Spider-Man. People forget: Hobie is *also* Spider-Man.

Did you know... Donald Glover is the reason Miles Morales was created? After Toby's Spider-Man, when they were going to reboot, there was an online grassroots campaign to make Donald Glover Spider-Man. He even screen tested for the role. In the end, it went to Andrew Garfield. But, the online support for Donald was soo huge, that they created Miles in the "Ultimate Universe," that Marvel had at the time -- to make fans happy. In the story, it was similar to Into the SpiderVerse, where they kill off the Peter Parker in that Universe and have Miles take over, but we still got Peter in the main Marvel Universe. Later, when they animated Spider-Man (can't remeber the name of the animated show) Donald Glover plays the voice of Miles, when he crosses paths with the main Marvel Peter Spider-Man. I'm glad that they are keeping Donald's involvement going.

Beyond the Spider Verse does not have a release date, but before it was removed, the date given by the studio was 2025, very optimistic of them to believe that it will come out this year. And here is one of those cases, which makes me sad that people who have a reaction channel lose these types of masterpieces in cinema and let alone IMAX, where it is a visual experience to enjoy the work of the artists who worked on this preciousness. I've already seen it 7 times in the cinema, because I wanted to enjoy something I wouldn't see again in a decade or two. with that level of detail and I wanted to get the most out of it

The thing is their really is no right or wrong, good or bad side here, Miles and Miguel are both doing wrong things for a good reason, and they are both understandable. Miguel is willing to sacrifice Miles father to protect billions of people lives and Miles is willing to gamble the fate of his reality to save his father, the way i see it they both have something worth fighting for, thats what makes it this conflict so interesting and well written.
