Dude! I was just talking with Denise about it. I love how he comes across as a joke. And then progressively becomes more menacing. By the time you feel threatened by him it’s way too late. The Spot is OP! My guess is the only way to defeat him now is by overwhelming him with the entire spider society until he runs out of dark matter

@@OfficialMediaKnights yeah i really love what they did with his character, i think he was originally he was just a B tier villian that occasionally appeared in a few comics from time to time where usually the story goes that he gives spiderman a bit of a hard time before spidey adapts to his portal abilitys but spot himself was never a major treated as a major threat. but it seems someone finally realized that portals are insanly op if done right especially when mixed with alternate dimensions

I really liked the subtle storytelling used to convey Hobie’s character. He lets Gwen know he disapproves of everyone not telling Miles “enough”. He gives Miles little tips, hints, and warnings with dialogue and body language. But he never tells Miles the truth outright. In my humble opinion, it’s due to the fact that Hobie respects Miles’s personal journey, and wants him to discover how he feels about his own situation. A big contrast from Miguel, who tells Miles how he should think, feel, and act based on his own personal experience. Hobie was good comic relief, but I think he played a pivotal role in helping Miles find his own way.
@Whiskypapa
@Whiskypapa 7 ай бұрын
Hobie is by far my favourite spider-man variation to date. Yes, the comic relief part is amazing and the style and animation is beyond epic. But his extremely deep character, disguised by a shallow “generic punk dude” persona, is what really sells it for me. From roughly 7 minutes of screen time, you can make a 2 hour long videos essay and still only scratch the surface of his motivations, background, personality, etc. I have read that he is the hardest character to animate for the animators, which is probably one of the reasons he got so little screen time this movie, but I really hope he will get way more screen time in the 3rd movie and hopefully even see his dimension too. And like you touched upon, he is the only spider-person who has exclusively looked out for Miles’ best interest from the very first second. Even Gwen and Peter B can’t be said the same about. But he also does it in a very “self-help” and “find your own path” type of way.
@robbob5302
@robbob5302 4 ай бұрын
Tbh, while I loved Hobie, I did not like his animation style they went with. Yes, it fits him. But is going to clash with the other characters animation. And make it difficult for him to have (for example) complicated wrestling bouts like Miles and Miguel had. Given Hobie is so 2-D.

Good reaction! The thing with Miguel (2099) is that he is the way he is because if there’s one thing the writers did right is subtle hints of their comic histories. Miguel is a character meant to be different from Peter which is why we got those jokes of him being different. His DNA was spliced with spider DNA because the company he worked at tried to kill him, he grew up with a abusive father that made him anti social/sarcastic/anger issues. He was really projecting his hatred of himself/trauma onto Miles because he didn’t want him to make the same mistake he did. Still think what he said to him wasn’t right. He also never learn what it means to be Spider-Man until after 10 issues of his run I believe where he understood “power & responsibility” especially after teaming up with Peter through time travel where Peter inspired him. I do think that’s gonna be his arc in the third film where he’ll understand what Miles is talking about and fully become Spider-Man.
@OfficialMediaKnights
@OfficialMediaKnights 9 ай бұрын
I loved how they portrayed him in this! It was fantastic. Menacing and complex. Also love the nods they added to suggest he doesn’t have the spider sense since he is not a conventional spider-man. Hoping to see his character evolve in beyond!
@dday906
@dday906 9 ай бұрын
What also makes Miguel so different is the world of 2099, itself. By that time, big corporations and governments straight up wiped out most of the superheroes. Miguel grew up in a world with no heroes, no hope, no promise of a brighter day. Not to mention his abusive dad is, secretly, not even his biological father. Miguel's real father is his evil, slimeball boss who keeps Miguel under his thumb. Hell, Miguel's own Venom is his psychotic school bully and paternal half-brother. In a world this messed up, Miguel looked into the history of Spider-Man and became inspired. Miguel felt Spider-Man was the only hero capable of healing a world so broken, leading to the whole domino effect to him becoming Spider-Man 2099. Definitely want them to use the third film to be Miguel's lesson in learning what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

No one has worded the description of this better than you two. "It's like Jazz" is such an apt description! The fluidity of letting every single character shine, even the side characters, is done so amazingly! But there is one thing I'm confused about and maybe it'll come up in the last movie. Miguel says Miles wasn't supposed to be spider-man. That Peter was supposed to destroy the collider. But Spot mentions he ran a test on the collider, which is the earthquake Mile's friend from his old school mentioned before Miles got his powers. Miles is bitten a day before Peter is even going to destroy the collider, so how would that have kept Miles from getting his powers?
@CarmenSanata
@CarmenSanata 6 ай бұрын
The amazing part about this story is that there are so many valid, but competing ideas. Is Miguel partially right about the Spider-Verse, or all of it? Was Miguel even supposed to be Spiderman since he wasnt bitten? Once he left his own universe, what happened to it cause thats a universe without “Spiderman.” This movie gives us enough to side with Miles or Miguel because with stakes as high as a Spiderverse unraveling, do you really “mess” with that for the sake of a 15 year old’s heart? Especially if some of the other Spiderfolk may have experienced what Miguel did? This film is incomparable 😮‍💨

These Spider-Verse movies are on another level. Across the Spider-Verse is slightly better, in my opinion, but both are masterpieces. I give Into the Spider-verse slightly better storytelling, but Across the Spiderverse surpassed Itsv in every other category: the voice acting performances, the animation, editing, score/soundtrack, characters, antagonist, "cinematography", etc. The writing is just as good in both, so that aspect is a tie for me. What makes miles such an anomaly is that he wasn't technically supposed to be bit..but he got bit anyway.... and with that...his entire universe is supposed to be collapsing in on itself....but it's not.... What's more...based on what we learned of miles prowler...if you think about it...our miles(who became spiderman) was supposed to become the prowler(you can actually go back to the 1st movie and note when miles met his Peter Parker, and their spider senses started syncing up)..so either way, you would have had each miles either become Spiderman or prowler....and it's weirder too, because the spider that bit miles was glitching...but miles himself doesn't glitch at all until he crosses into another universe...

The insane part is how it all transitioned when Miles's Peter Parker Spider Senses went off at the same time, Miles went from Green/Purple (From the Prowler's original color in the comics) to Red/Blue (Spider-Man) in the first film . Yet again, he's an anomaly, a blank sheet of paper with an unpredicting ending and not sure what the outcome will be for the 3rd film.

3rd film better have Miles trying to explore Multiversal travel himself only to discover that there is so much more. It is called Beyond after all. My guess is that they are gonna meet Madame Webb and she’s gonna be the one to probably tell Miles he was always meant to be Spider-Man

The short king that appears after Peni who says “We know it’s hard but it’s the truth Miles” is the Spider-Man from the beloved Spectacular Spider-Man show. For context, it ran from 2008-2009 but was cancelled after 2 seasons due to legal issues. It developed a cult following tho and is considered by many to be one of if not the best Spider-Man cartoon. In Season 2, they were building up the Peter/Captain Stacy relationship and he knew he was Spidey. If the show went on, Stacy probably would’ve died in a future season. It’s crazy that they brought back the original voice actor, Josh Keaton, but also paid off a plot line from the show when they revealed his Stacy died (He’s the first one who appears in the ASM-90 scene saying “Captain Stacy I’m so sorry”.) Highly recommend Spectacular Spider-Man. A top 5 Spider-Man adaptation for sure. It’s on Disney Plus. And great reaction. 10/10 film :)

The only thing disappointing about this series is that it shows that Sony can make amazing superhero movies when they really want to, and the team behind this one continues to bring their A-Game and then some! I cannot wait until next year. I need to see how this ends. I think Ari is on to something about Miles being the original anomaly and possibly being the only one able to change things--didn't cross my mind until he said that. Still, you got to wonder, why Miles glitches in Universe 42. Yes, the spider that bit him glitched in his universe, but its DNA is entangled with his own, so shouldn't he be able to exist in both places? Miles doesn't glitch in his universe despite being metaphysically altered by something from a different universe. Why can't he exist in Universe 42 if he's part of Universe 42 too? I'm so happy to see everyone from the first movie returning to help out in the last act. It's going to be a banger, and I cannot wait. Miles is going to figure out how to exist in all universes, isn't he? Didn't he say that that's what he wants to do when speaking about his future with his parents and counselor? Anyway, this was such a great movie and another fun reaction. Keep'em comin'!

I don't think that's how that works fam. Having DNA from another universe don't mean u can exist in that universe. U and u from another universe still share the same DNA. U just exist in separate universes. Your DNA don't make u part of a universe

@G1Transformed thank you so much for watching this with us! I believe the DNA situation you are referring to is simply Miguel’s way to expedite an answer from his database. He’s probably spent so much time assigning each universe with the genetic code from that spiderman. The thing is obviously spider-people and their DNA is entangled with the DNA of whichever spider bit them. Since Miguel is into genetics this was probably the easiest way for him to solve a complex problem when dealing with hundreds of Spider-People. This however is not fool proof. Since of course Miles is an exception he was sent to the spiders original universe. I get that you’re basically saying well…if there’s part of something that’s from a different universe inside of Miles he should exist in both without glitching or he should glitch in both right? I think the main reason is because the majority of Miles atoms are from his main universe and only the DNA was altered by something exterior fusing it into one. But his body is still mainly from his universe. Aside from that yeah! I really do believe he might be the only one to disrupt canon events. I guess we’ll see!
@G1Transformed

@@OfficialMediaKnights I see Miles as a mutation. He's neither the person he was before the Spider bite nor the spider that bit him, he's both. Miguel told Miles that he was the original anomaly. Neither of them knows what happened in MOM, though Miguel apparently saw some of the fallout during No Way Home, but I digress. While Miguel and the characters of this franchise might not agree with the terminology used in MOM, they'd probably agree that what they are experiencing is similar in nature. I think we're seeing a lot of mini-incursions because too many variants have gathered in proximity to one another. The Spider that bit Miles died. That spider wasn't supposed to be in Miles' universe and yet it lives on in Miles, leaving its footprint in a universe it shouldn't be. Wherever Miles goes, it goes, and now that Miles is hopping from universe to universe without 2099's hall pass, they are two alien entities leaving a larger footprint. I agree with you that the connection is that they are all Spider-People--they are each other's variants. Like the Lokis we saw in Loki they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but they all share a similar story and canon events, including Miles. Miguel believes that these events all have to happen, but do they really? Before Sylvie broke the Multiverse, canon events had to happen as planned because HWR was preventing a future with him in it, and the story he scripted made sure of that fact. Everything Miguel about the Spider-Verse might be based on events before Sylvie broke the Multiverse. And that would help explain why he's dead set on making sure that canon events happen as he's seen them happen hundreds of times before. Anyway, like I said, I cannot wait to see how this story ends. It is such a great Spider-Man story.

The colour of Miles' "aura" when he met Spider-Man in the first movie, was green and purple (Prowler's colours) and then shifted to red and blue... So after watching it’s fun to go back and try and see how many you can recognize.

The best theory coming out of this movie is that the Miles-42 was going to be Spider-Man (can be seen in Spot scenes the spider is about to bite Miles before getting pulled). So, Peter wouldn't be Spider-Man, Miles would be. I did notice the above detail. But, Erik Voss theorized that since there's no Spider-Man in Earth - 42, all villains are ruling (theres a news announcement about Sinister 6). Even then Aaron and Miles hide from stuff, implying that Prowler might be helping people undercover! Love this movie. It is also great that it won't be pushed as much back, because the story for Beyond the Spiderverse was already written, so the strike won't affect production that much (though there were rumors of the film being pushed back). Another home run for Sony Animation! Hoping they win another Oscar for this movie! It was an amazing watch in theatres! And i caught some more details when watching at home. Loved your reaction too!

Thank you so much! And yeah both of those universes had Miles being bitten. However this doesn’t mean Peter Parker is not Spider-Man too. My biggest question after watching is why would Miguel blame Miles for Peter’s death? It’s almost as if Miguel believes there can’t be 2 spider-people in the same universe. Like the 2 of the same can’t occupy the same space theory. Thank you so much for watching! This better win the Oscar!
@kvm6

@@OfficialMediaKnights I'm pretty sure Miguel knows that multiple spider people can exist. The PS4 game has both Peter and Miles, and they are both in the Lobby in this movie. So what happens is, in 'Into the Spider-verse', Miles returns to check on the spider that bit him, and finds out that Spiderman and Green Goblin are fighting over the Collider. Miles slips and Peter has to save him from falling, after which Green Goblin gets upper hand and Peter is pushed into the activated Collider (so other Spider people are called in, instead of Kingpin's family). A small explosion happens in which Green Goblin dies, and Peter is majorly hurt (mostly because of being pushed in the Collider). Kingpin later kills him. So, I think Miguel believes that if Miles wasn't at the Collider, Peter won't have gotten distracted to save him during such an important fight. Really it's Kingpin's fault, but probably Miguel is projecting just a little bit.
@OfficialMediaKnights
@OfficialMediaKnights 9 ай бұрын
I like how you put it! Miguel is definitely projecting quite a bit. You can tell how much he hates himself for destroying an entire universe. Knowing how they already foreshadowed Miles being interested in the multiverse and wanting to study it he most likely will be the one to figure out how to patch the multiverse back up during certain moments. Creating a similar situation as in endgame. Something time travel related. I think in doing so he might save a few universes along the way or might end up causing an incursion! Only time will tell

@@OfficialMediaKnights I think it has already been said that MCU will get Miles too. So, all this will lead to Secret Wars where Miles had some important role in comics. This movie even manages to patch up Sony SpiderMan issues (like Vulture from MCU showing up in Morbius) by suggesting that 'Into the Spider-verse' caused dimensional instability so villains are going to other dimensions (like at the beginning of this film Gwen fights Vulture from different dimension). Uh,. I can't wait for the next movie! Like my level of anticipation is at Endgame level already. (But if any of the people that made this awesome movie are reading this, don't push yourself too hard! 🤔 The Spot could be such an efficient crime fighter being able to go between dimensions & portal a criminal to a jail before they even know he is there. I mean honestly a power like that would be more efficient than spider man’s because most super villains don’t have powers that would be a good weakness for the hero. If the Spot had fought the classic spiderman villains there would not be much they could do since the spot doesn’t need direct contact to fight them (maybe aside from a super villain that siphons dark energy from him). I don’t know as a villain it feels like the spot is kind of wasting his potential just because he feels like Miles stole his destiny?
