Unlimited’s artstyle is underrated as hell, and the suit is favorite Spidey suit period. Sucks that Marvel doesn’t really acknowledge this show. Not even the game with the exact same name had the signature costume.

I personally believe that TNAS deserves a second chance more than anything else. It's mature tone and bold choices allows the show to tell the stories it wishes to tell without being forced to hide behind the censors. Plus it's not everyday where you see Peter depicted in his college years, which is honestly very refreshing nowadays. If given a second chance with a higher budget and more creative freedom, I have no doubt that it could stand as one of the best superhero shows ever.

TNAS is seriously underrated. I do think it went a bit too extreme in terms of showcasing Parker's bad luck with everything especially with the two twins, but it was pretty cool seeing a more adult-oriented Spider-Man story as a one off It also did the whole "Max Dillon being an outcast" arc considerably better than TASM2. Crazy how TNAS is being looked backed at nowadays with the apprecition it deserves, especially because of how mature and edgy it was for a Spider-Man story and got me exposed to dark superhero stories as a kid, also I agree with NPH being one of the better Spidey actors, kinda weird he only voiced him in two projects, he has the charisma and talent for it. Also Rino Romano is another voice actor that is crimially underrated as Spidey (and Batman in The Batman) for he was one of the first voices besides CDB in the 90s TAS to hear as Spidey.

I loved the TNAS and its mature take on the characters. As for Unlimited, I would've loved to see Marvel go with their original idea (it was gonna be a Spider-Man 2099 cartoon). Considering the 2099 universe had so many characters like Doom, Hulk, Ghost Rider, it would've been interesting to see. (Apparently, they didn't want to do it because of running the risk of being compared to Batman: Beyond, but I think it would've been cool).

Venom's shape-shifting abilities in the comics are actually pretty impressive. The biology of the host and symbiote become one, so technically Eddie isn't inside the symbiote, their bodies become one. I guess thats also how it mimics its hosts abilities. I think the mouth closing around Eddie's head was just such a genius idea for a character transformation that they never stopped doing it. I think it depends how well the host is bonded with the symbiote though.

I was actually hoping/wishing that Neil Patrick Harris would be Spider-Man again in the Avengers game (of course that game wasn't that good but that's besides the point) because even though he has voice Spider-Man before in TNAS and the Shattered Dimensions game, it's still a pick that you wouldn't have expected as much and I think would've suited the game. I had the DVD set for TNAS as a kid and lost track of how many times I watched it. I've never really understood why network executives would just can shows that do fairly well to focus on other demographics. I get wanting to broadly shift towards other demographics, but if you have a successful show, why not just let it keep going until it falls off in ratings or the show runners are done with it? It's not like the rise of one trend inherently kills another one, especially if they're in as different of markets as "superhero cartoon aimed at older audience" and "reality show."

"Spider-Man: The New Animated Series" surprisingly has one of the best (IMHO) and most _haunted_ versions of Dr. Connors/The Lizard; the villain's design in the series is awesomely monstrous, and I feel Rob Zombie successfully manages to believably convey that Connors is a genuine scientist who was wronged through his vocal performance. And THAT'S how "Spider-Man: Unlimited" ends (I never saw the final episode)? Huh, it more or less predicted "Web of Shadows (among other things)."

I don't know why but it ended up rubbing me the wrong way in terms of the tone, certain storylines, and some of the characters' actions. Then, when it was canceled, I didn't even bat an eye. I respect those who say that this is a criminally underrated Spider-Man cartoon series and it really was impressive for the time it aired. However, I don't like it at all.

So, the MTV show was one of the first times I was ever exposed to the character and world of Spider-Man. It wasn’t my first exposure, that was either some DVD collections of the Fox Kids show or the first two Raimi movies (I can never remember which), but I think The New Animated Series stuck with me a little more because it was never praised to the same degree as the other two. This that little niche thing that I and maybe a handful of other people knew about because it was kinda bizarre in hindsight. I mean, a Spider-Man show with rather grim stories and themes? Who wants that when you’ve got him making jokes and fighting a sand guy in the movies? And don’t get me wrong, I love a cheerful Spider-Man as much as the next guy, the Raimi movies and other cartoons are praised for a reason, but… idk, it’s nice getting to look back on that OTHER weird show and acknowledging that yeah, that’ll never happen again. Anyway, all this to say, I think it’s really cool to see somebody else acknowledge this amazing little show that I still hold dear with the same passion he’d give to any other thing he’d review. Thanks Xavier.

I still enjoy it as an adult, especially now that I have an understanding of specific parts of the show that I didn't have when I was younger. Spider-Man Unlimited is actually my favorite since I can see the whole concept of the story, having Spider-Man Peter Park go to the future like in 2099 and trying to find a way back home, sadly the last episode couldn't been made and it sucks that it's a lost episode that will never get made ever again unless Disney+ gets all the actors and make a movie of the last episode but I highly doubt Disney would even consider having their own Spider-Man Cartoon Movie since they've failed doing the Spider-Man 2018 show, but everything about this show that I love will always be known to me as one of the greatest old Spider-Man shows I've watch being a prequel to the original Spider-Man TAS and that opening Music of Spider-Man Unlimited is the best one

Spider-Man: TAS had to be left with the loose end of Mary Jane still being lost somewhere in a dimensional limbo, but also ended the series on a very high note with Peter literally saving all reality from being destroyed by an insane Carnage-possessed version of himself, while the final scene at least leaves viewers with the reassurance that Peter and MJ will be reunited again. And if that alone wasn't enough to end the series on, Spidey got to meet Stan Lee! Unlimited’s final episode ends the series with symbiotes raining down on Counter-Earth and left viewers with a much bigger crisis that they never got to see resolved, so if anything TAS was able to be given a much better and more satisfying end for a "cliffhanger". Kind of makes me glad in hindsight that I never really got to watch much of Unlimited as a kid if that was how the series ended.

The actors did a great job, the action was fun, I loved the art style, and the stories were a good time. Unlimited on the other hand, I like the costume and Peter himself but that’s really it. I saw it after 2003, Spectacular, and the Animated series show but I couldn’t really get into it even when I wanted to. I hope that suit shows up in Spider-Man 2 and gets more exposure like we want. Perhaps we’ll see it return someday big time, but I’m not holding my breath

To be fair, "Unlimited" did kinda justify why Venom and Carnage looked and acted differently with the whole Synoptic plot point, implying that at some point this Synoptic had gone dormant due to human and Bestial civilization and due to all the dimension-hopping Brock and Kasady were doing its programming reawakened with a vengeance and suppressed their personality differences in favour of subservience to itself.
@robertkenny1201
@robertkenny1201 11 ай бұрын
Yeah well it still has a s&@t load of contunity errors, in a flashback that retells Venoms first fight with Spider-Man, Venom was taken into shield custody as opposed to Eddie Brock being separated from the Symbiote and sent to Ravencroft, and Venom immediately turns Cletus Kasady into Carnage after escaping, instead of Dormammu bringing the Symbiote to Kasady, also it's never explained how Mary Jane, Carnage and Venom got out of Limbo.

TNAS has my favorite version of Connors, in that unlike other incarnations he seems more intense, holding a grudge over what Oscorp's weapons did to his arm. He has some standards, but Curt seems more accepting of the Lizard as an outlet for his vendettas, giving him more agency and ambiguity that I actually think is more interesting than his usual depictions.
