That last (pre-credits) scene with Spider-Man swinging through NYC was the first pure swinging scene we've gotten in the MCU and it was BEAUTIFUL.

Damn I love how they are taking their time with this character. It took 2 cameo 3 movies and 2 full movies to establish Spidey as his own man and when it paid off it was beautiful. Hope Tom sticks around for another few years. If we got 6 spidey movies out of him that would just amazing.

There are subtle hints throughout the movie that Fury and Hill aren't Fury and Hill, was disappointed no one mentioned them. When Spider-Man mentions Captain Marvel's name, Fury (Talos) snaps at him, in very Un-Fury fashion, 'Don't invoke her name'. Talos very much, I'm sure, views Captain Marvel, the savior of his race, as someone beyond everyone. Real Fury probably views her as a friend and asset, but nothing so protective as to tell Spider-Man to not say her name. Fury says Beck isn't 'from your world' instead of 'our world' when introducing Beck to Spider-Man. When Fury is talking to Happy at the end, he mentions that 'looks can be deceiving' or 'things aren't always what they seem'. Something like that. It was definitely off-putting while watching it, Fury was very much not the Fury we all know, cool and collected, knows everything. He was uncomfortable, confused, I think he played with his eye patch a couple of times awkwardly (Talos not being comfortable with it). The reveal at the end made it all make sense and was perfect. I can't wait to watch this with my fam who have no clue who Mysterio is and won't see the turn coming. I wish I didn't know who Mysterio is before the movie just because of that. The reveal would've blown my mind, I have no doubt, probably pushed this movie to one of the top MCU movies. I still think it's amazing, can't decide whether it's better than Homecoming or not.

@TheRageCritics
@TheRageCritics 5 жыл бұрын
woodstock5952 I completely agree. I feel like they really didn’t care about the whole Mysterio pretending part but they need to realize that they are the minority when it comes to knowing who Mysterio is. The general audience has no idea who Mysterio is honestly and that whole reveal is probably so much more impactful when they find out he’s the villain. The audience in my theater clapped and cheered when Peter gave Mysterio the glasses and said you’re an avenger now only to hear gasps seconds later when the reveal happens. The first half works just unfortunately not for them.

If you have a definitive answer on how it works from all 10,456 comics, cartoons, games and movies, please submit it for review. That’s how that shit works on Tom Holland Spidey, that’s what they’ve showed, suggested and it’s consistent and makes sense.

I thought this was way better than Homecoming personally. The kids were way less annoying and actually kinda endearing and funny. Tom Holland's acting is top tier. Happy's relationship with Peter was so heartwarming whereas in Homecoming he's just constantly annoyed with having to essentially babysit him. Mysterio's illusions were some of the best sequences in all the MCU. The overall tie in and connection/repercussions within the MCU are felt so much more in this movie than in many other MCU movies and that fucking post credit scene god damn. This movie was damn good.

I didn’t know who mysterio was while going into this movie and it was a cool reveal but he was also a boring villain with a vague motivation. This movie was held together by the interactions between peter and friends.

I think HC and FFH both do enough for world building and character set-up. They feel like they're in service to a bigger plot, which is what I'm hoping we see in part 3, because that could really improve these movies in retrospect, since neither really take huge dramatic leaps with these characters. I'm happy with how FFH ends*, because it feels like _that_ major step needed to raise the stakes in part 3.

Exactly, I point out that scene all the time. It's not "hit you over the head" obvious, but it's pretty clear that he uses Spider Sense to see Bucky's attack coming.

The banana didn’t affect Spider-Sense bc Spider-sense only goes Of for threats. Aunt May doesn’t register as a threat to Spider-Sense and neither does Nick Fury which is why he was able to surprise Peter in the hotel. That’s also why Venom doesn’t trigger Peter’s Spider-Sense bc it registers the Symbiote as an extension of himeself. The way they did it is actually really accurate to the comics

Chris Lopez haha yeah it was weird in homecoming, I think maybe you can chock it up to hormones haha. He didn’t even sense a banana in this movie cause he was preoccupied with Tony’s death. I think that’s what makes him such a good Spider-Man he’s literally learning as he goes along.

I generally love the Kinda Funny cast, but it does annoy me that you guys often review pop culture movies as if they need to meet certain fan demands. Like why in god’s name does it matter that they call it the peter tingle, or if they chose Nick Fury to be a skrull? Fans have gotta stop strangling studios to make movies according to their expectations, its toxic
