In "Spider-Man: House of M" Spider-Man Finally Gets a Happy Ending! Scarlet Witch suffers a mental breakdown due to the loss of her children. Consequently, she created a world where mutants rule while humans are oppressed including non-mutant heroes like spider-man. In this alternate reality Peter Parker's secret identity as Spider-man is widely known.
Conflicted, Peter decides to portray himself as a mutant rather than a human. This lie garnered him fame and adoration among the mutant race. This caused Spiderman to become famous but with fame he became arrogant and mistreated other humans. One day, the Green Goblin broke into J Jonah Jameson's home and coerced him into helping destroy Spiderman by using Peter's Journal as evidence that he is a human. Peter uncovers this plot and searches the city for Jonah. Eventually, he locates him, but a crowd of fans and paparazzi happens to show up.
Jonah exposed Spiderman as a fraud, fueling widespread animosity and prejudice towards him, as well as intensified hatred towards humans. Realizing the destructive impact of his lie, Peter decides to commit one final act of heroism and stages a picture of Spiderman hanging himself. The image went viral, leading people to believe he had taken his own life. This caused immense sadness, even Jonah regrets his hateful actions. In a rare happy ending for Spidey, Peter manages to escape New York and now embraces a modest life away from the spotlight.

Its always important to determine which the hero sees as the true person when writing superheroes. It shapes so much of their personality. Like batman is the opposite. For years now its been agreed he calls himself batman in his thoughts. And as such the idea of him giving up gotham becomes ludicrous. Where as superman has 2 other identies. Clark and kal el. He always calls himself clark cause hes more human to himself. You also get fun characters like tony in contrast to peter. Peter would be willing to give up being spiderman because its always just a costume to protect his loved ones. But Tony is never fully sure how much of himself is the suits. Which he creates obsessively at times

Once Wolverine remembers the world before Wanda's due to his healing factor, the X-Men also were able to remember the world and once Wolverine informed Spiderman, reverted the world and Spiderman kept his memories of the happy life he had. @mr.maccaman So it doesn’t actually have anything to do with your actual airflow, what i mean is the actual oxygen molecules in his blood would eventually stop traveling, because circulation (tiny veins & arteries, that have no muscles) are being cut off to his brain. *But* - if we stop using real world logic here and play by Marvel’s established rules, they’ve shown Peter’s capable of hanging upside basically indefinitely, which actually causes the opposite effect, over-circulation, but would also ultimately kill any normal person given enough time, so Spider-powers for the win i guess.

Compare Spidey to other heroes who have had similar drags through the dirt then we can compare what’s realistic as an ending for a Marvel character.

That's the neat part of every hero. People are so fed up with them saving the world that they're anticipating a fuck-up so they can bash them for clout's sake. But when the hero dies, that's when they begin thinking about the good stuff the hero has done. Either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain in their eyes.

In house of M, it flipped the script for mutants to be in power, and Spider-Man would be as real a mutant as the fantastic four. It would be synthetic and they'd be seen as superhuman fakes. Imagine Spiderman or Reed Richards telling regular Magneto he knows the struggle is real 😂.

Mutant are natural born, with the mutant gene in their 23rd chromosome. Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider which had it not bit him, he would’ve lived the life of a normal human. Therefore, no, he’s not a mutant by any means.

That has to be by far the worst thing he’s ever done. That’s mental and emotional abuse on a large scale. Not to fake your death but to fake a su*cide implicitly pointing the finger at the public AFTER APPROPRIATING other peoples… Pete was wild for this one.

Thank u for adding the final escape part, cuz some other short channels remove that to make it seem like spider-man kills himself and that would be the end of the comic.
