Live service, so i’m glad it was canceled. Edit: for anyone reading this. Name 3 good live service games that don’t have any paywalls - battlepasses, skins, ect. You can’t. So my point stands. I’m glad it died before Insomniac went under like Rocksteady is.

could have had greatness* The idea sounds fun, but in reality, these games aren't designed for multiplayer. Insomniac also has a ton of projects on their hands right now. Venom, Wolverine, and X-Men, Spiderman 3, and Ratchet And Clank. The games have to be made somehow, and focusing on a multiplayer game that probably sounds more fun than it is, is not the best choice to be honest.

I think there saving it for the 3rd one of whatever the last one will be that’s the one with online I think

Guerilla(Horizon) and Santa Monica(God of War) too, but these were much earlier in the production stage. Jim Ryan, the previous SIE/PS president wanted the company to make 9 multiplayer live service games atleast by 2025. That was unrealistic as hell of him to expect from studios that are only used to making singleplayer stuff.

Basically every spiderman is essentially the same with one small difference in their abilities which doesn’t make it fun. 4 spidermen to take down one boss is just boring. SSKTJL was fire because it made sense, every character is very different from each other so the play style varies from situation to situation, and diverse enough to make it fun. It’s the same reason as to why you don’t have a Batman multiplayer game full of Batman’s. It doesn’t make sense

It may be just an idea or pitch. Game studios tend to make mock drafts and trailers. This never made it past the ideas and art stage.

It didn’t get cancelled because of hackers leaking it, it got cancelled because spider-man 2 didn’t sell as well as Sony hoped and Sony just laid off 900 employees.

this can easily by the next game, and they can just make the Super villains spawn randomly around the city/ team up with eachother, to warrant needing more than one Spider, yes, they could techincally be soloed, but the more players there are the quicker and easier it would be finished. like beat up multiple key enemies to weaken the Super Villain, or Destroy multiple bombs in quickly to stop them.

It would have done better than 2, I can tell you that. Make a fun little story, slightly improve the combat and differentiate the characters a little and ts would sell big time. People have wanted a multiplayer Spider-Man for a long time so many people would check it out and that could include content creators so more publicity. Then they can add a reasonable live service that doesn’t feel intrusive (like helldivers) and bam

Cause someone hacked them and they threatened to leak if it they didn't give them a certain amount of money. So they leaked it and cancelled it. The game does look finished tho. But sadly we may never get to play it.

Those games failed because no one wants to pay for a live service game just to have repetitive gameplay, a lazily told story, and bad writing, THATS why those games failed, I personally don't even like Live service games not because they're live service but because that's usually just used as an excuse for companies to be money hungry, if they deliver a good game first and then just have live service elements or online aspects I see nothing wrong with that and most people won't either, This is a terrible excuse to cancel what could've been a great thing🤦🏾‍♂️

Yeah. I love the idea of the game but I imagine in gameplay it could be annoying as other players are getting in the way messing up your combos and stuff. Or the game would feel basic as they remove a bunch of the combat from the last games to make the multiplayer gameplay work better Think Gotham knights one of the reasons that game feels so much worse than Arkham is because they removed most the combos and attack types that had become staples in those kind of games and that was a gameplay thing and realistically you would need to do that to this as well and since these games are marketed as letting you feel like Spider-Man you probably want to avoid taking away from that

But the missions themselves could be improved. However, no other studio is making me obsessed with the open world. Sucker Punch did a great job with Ghost of Tsushima but the NPCs and side missions are a complete joke. I don’t want to seem like a fanboy. Honestly there is no other game besides gta 6 that is making me go crazy

Even if this trailer is fake, it has been actually leaked that there was a cancelled multi-player spiderman game anyway, and the OP's point still stands. If this "fan made" trailer has a lot of positive reception, then they'll be motivated to finish the game.
