He probably just found the spider and thought, "This could make a good video!" Judging by the way the spider already had a few threads in place at the beginning of the video, it most likely had just gotten into the studio. That's all me guessing, though 😝

Spiders are some of most fascinating species of microorganisms i've ever encountered. As a Wildlife Zoologist and Doctor of Zoological Science, these species have endeavored many resources to contribute to the earth, like releasing naturally-aspirated Carbon Dioxide to replenish the atmosphere, not fossil fuels from what humans make. Also, they can act as decomposers at times by consuming the entire carcasses of dead flies. Biologically speaking, arachnids do not have external ears yet their eyesight is on point. They also have neurons within their legs which is the reason why they stop when the ground shakes, possible predator threat, or being able to crawl upside down. When i see a spider web, i realize how much dedication spiders put in and how much kinetic energy is needed. Imagine trying to build a toy house by yourself, it's equivalent to that.

I agree! When i see one, i just simply let it do it's thing, even when it's in my house. No reason for me to kill it. Probably the spider is looking for shelter from the heat or from the frigid cold. Probably their hungry and just want food. Or even probably they're just exploring, just like humans do as they travel, and want to see or experience humans/world.

That was GREAT! Didn't seem too shaky to me, but of course I would love to see it in the studio too. Makes me happy that you guys gave him some salami as a treat - is it possible to zoom on him eating it next time? (It's interesting that he wrapped it up. "This fly is so spicy!") Thanks for the great videos; my kids and I enjoy them very much!

I'm glad he did so! Now the spider won't have to starve for god knows how long. I would've given that spider a whole slice of meat if i could or a bunch of dead insects but that would either destroy the web or make it sick. I hope other people would understand that spiders can starve too.

You might even consider spider allies for a couple reasons. 1st: they kill mosquitoes, which are our enemies. 2nd: most of them really rarely attack humans, they tend to run away. (arachnophobic person speaking)

I _love_ watching spiders spin their webs. It's so amazing that a little tiny bug with an even tinier brain knows how to make these intricate structures from some magic glands in its butt. Spiders are super creepy but they're also super cool.

I've watched what I believe to be the same spider species (or at least a very similar one) building a web more than once! They're fast even without being timelapsed. It's really relaxing to watch. Luckily, these particular spiders eat their web every day, and build it again at night, so it's easy to catch them building them. They are called garden orb weavers and are docile and harmless, if anyone was wondering.. I've found them crawling on me many times when I (probably) walked through their webs at night, and they've never hurt me. If you find them, unless you're an arachnophobe, just sit back, watch, and relax- but no matter what, never kill them.

Fun Fact: Spider silk is actually extremely strong and can take FAR more pressure before snapping then almost ANY average rope or safety gear while STILL being extremely flexible... hence why it's sometimes difficult to snap even the THINNEST little strand of webbing when the silk on an average spider's web is thinner then a human hair.

Spiders are so cool. And so terrifying. An interesting thing about spiders is that they have two types of silk: a sticky kind for trapping prey and a non sticky type for support and for the spider to step on. If you find a spiderweb and you run your finger along one of the strings coming out of the web connecting it to the thing its hanging off of, you'll find that it isn't sticky, unlike the silk in the center of the web. You can see the spider using these two kinds of silk. First it started with the non sticky kind in the straight lines and the wider circles that it made first, and then it switched to the sticky thread on its way towards the center with the thinner circles. I know all of this because in the summer there's a million spiders around my house and they like to build their webs in the walkway leading up to my front door.

OMG they build it ever so carefully/gently it's beautiful until some nasty idiot comes and destroys it. Some spiders like some house spiders are good as they catch nasty house flies in the summer time so they can be good spiders and it's not good to destroy their master piece webs and cobwebs

im nice with the spiders in my house, theres a special one, when i catch a fly or an insect, i throw it on the spider's web and i see her eat it :)
