I doubt any of them check out my videos, chess-wise it wouldn't make much sense for them. Maybe if some of them are interested in streaming or creating content, they might give it a look. Naka and MVL gave me a big smile, so they might have recognized me, but who knows, we didn't get to exchange any words during the quick signing of the board.

Hi Agadmator, first time commenting on one of your videos! I've been watching for a couple of months and I have to say that I find your videos so enjoyable to watch. Your analyses are incredibly insightful and thought expanding. I really enjoy trying to find the right move when you challenge us to find a move that was played during matches. Or perhaps even spotting a missed opportunity in hindsight. Your breakdowns have dramatically helped me understand the why's and how's/do's and don'ts of positional advantages, sacrifices, when to defend or attack, when to trade off pieces, etc. from an array of angles. I wanted to say thank you for doing what you do and for taking the time to explain things in the format that you do. I am seeing the results of my matches improve and am finding myself in better positions. Now when I've made a mistake, (if not too bad a blunder) I can usually find a way to save my match if I play carefully. That tells me that I'm improving my positional thought process and understanding of the game. I just started playing Chess again as an adult about 6 months to a year ago. It felt like I started as good or maybe a bit better than when I played in school (Which wasn't that good, but good enough to win the chess club in a small town). I was inspired to start playing again when I came across a video of Magnus Carlsen on youtube, playing several people at once, while blind folded! I'm sure you're familiar with what I'm talking about. A light bulb went off in my brain, and for the first time I think I started to understand just how majestic a chess board and it's pieces can be. So I set myself a goal. I wanted to become a disciplined, learned player and increase my understanding and ability of the game to a point where I could win 1 match, blindfolded, against someone who can play fairly well and beyond. I started by playing against the computer on a novice level and won half the time and lost terribly the other half. I got better with repetition and by learning from my mistakes.. Not long I was beating the computer regularly, and thought I was doing well. So I would increase the difficulty by 1 or 2 levels and all of a sudden the game would be so difficult, I couldn't develop pieces properly, rarely find good attacking moves, etc. I continued to play against the computer and learn by trials, experience, memory, until I could beat the computer regularly at intermediate levels. So then I started to try advanced difficulty, and that's where I plateaued. No matter how I tried to play, I was getting skunked 90% of the time. Sorry I know this is getting long, but I'm almost done. So I thought it would be a good idea to start doing some learning outside of myself and the computer engine. I came across a lot of people and a lot of advice, ideas, theories. Maybe it was overwhelming to me, to hear about so many strategies, lines, etc. in a short period of time. It had bummed me out and had me feeling like I didn't know where to start. So after a few days I thought I'd try to find some of the best games in history through google and try to analyze them myself with the tiny amount of knowledge I had. That's when I found your channel going over a Bobby Fischer game I think. I rather instantly became a fan of the videos and searched for more. I have been very dedicated to Chess over the last 3 months and play as many games a day as I can now. My ranking has improved by over 400 in the last couple of months and I'm looking forward to learning more. Sorry this became so long winded, just wanted to share my personal experience and how you have positively impacted me, thank you again!

My reactions: 1. Giri goes for sicilian as white - okay, something unusual. 2. Giri castles kings side and then immediately pushes pawn to g4 - ooookayy, surprise after surprise. 3. Giri continues at Mamedyarov (more or less same level opponent as Giri himself) in an active attacking fashion - is it global warming or something?

Better to keep attacking pressure on the black king with forcing moves in order to reposition your pieces so they're on optimal squares. As opposed to capturing rook on G8 immediately. Basically prevents black from having any counter play with queen being misplaced. 👌
