When you go up to spike, are you jumping at your maximum potential every time? In other words, are you jumping as high as you can every single time? I am 5'6 and when I approach and jump at my maximum potential I do get over the net however I feel that it is limiting on my power.

Coach Donny, First thank you for your videos! I just recently heard that keeping your elbows in line with your torso versus bring them in front of your body on the approach allows you to have a faster, more explosive take off. Keeping the elbows at your torso causes the arms to bend at the elbow versus the whole arm swinging forward. The reasoning that I was given is that if the arms go too forward and backwards that your feet actually slow down to allow that motion to occur. I am just now experimenting with my own approach to see if it makes a difference. The other tip was to keep your chest more vertical versus leaning forward in this approach. The reasoning was for more energy transferred vertically instead of forward/horizontal and to allow the hitter to see the ball & blockers better. Any thoughts? I help young players and beginners in my local gym and I am always looking at ways to help them improve.

Hi coach donny, thanks for your vidéos, I learned a lot for the past two weeks and tried to apply stuff in my two lasts training. I think the 3 steps approach won't work for me. I am too late every time and the resulting spiking is always random. I wanted to try that because I realize than I alway start my spiking in a different manner. Thinking about it again, I used to have a 2 steps approach, the last 2 steps in the 3 steps approach. Do you think I can keep it that way ? The major différence is that I know now which foot I should put forward first. Keep up with the good work !
