I like the ability to add weights. Should add stability without having to affix to a surface.

I use tire weights that adhere to the bottom of my old ones - more concentrated weights in smaller pieces, will work great in these. Can’t wait to get them, love the redesign!!

I've used those before and they work great, but they are kind of expensive which is why I didn't recommend them. But they are probably the easiest solution so maybe I'll suggest them since I know some people don't mind paying a little more to get an easy and good solution.

Especially like having a way to add weight to the lazy kate so that it is less moveable while using an yet remains easily portable. Thank you.

Just a thought, if you call it a Dreamy Kate it may not get picked up when people put are searching for Lazy Kates on search engines, you could potentially be missing out on sales

Since these work as Lazy Kates for any wheel, I'd go with the more generic name of Dreaming Kate. Super cool improvments, it's not always about drastic changes.

I have your previous kate and I love it… but I was a bit frustrated when I figured out that the rod didn’t fit some of my other bobbins. So, I’m excited to hear about the new features of the new ‘Dreaming Kate’ {by the way…. she obviously was NEVER lazy 8^)…[and neither are you, Maurice.]} Thank you for your ingenuity!!! Looking forward to the new release.

One thought - Can you use the cones from the conewinder on the lacy kate, it would be nice if you can use the yarnspike to stabilize the cone when unwinding it but the cones will mayby be to high and you would need some disks that it can sit on so it does not rattel around.

They kind of work, but not the best because they don't fit the cones very well. I do give away 3D printable files to hold a cone better. It would be possible to 3D print something that uses these lazy Kate bases, but I'm not sure they would be an advantage over the current 3D printed files (other than the heavier base, but I'm not sure cones benefit much from that).

I really prefer a new name. The EEW Dreaming Kate. Everyone knows your brand so I do t think finding the product will be an issue.

This looks good! Since the magnets are strong, could it cause a problem when using an electric wheel close to the lazy kate?

The EEW won't be affected by magnets like these. You'd need really much more powerful magnets than could be safely handled to cause issues with the EEW. Things that might disturb the motor for example, but I'm not even sure how the physics of that would work. In all practical terms magnets won't affect the EEW.

I like "dreaming kate"! I'm really excited for these. If your plans for it work, do you have a rough estimate of when they might be available? I've been holding off on buying a different one because I'm waiting for these.

Maurice, I like your new design. Would you consider adding a clamp mechanism? I have to use a bar clamp to keep my original lazy Kate from moving across the table as I ply.

A clamp is something I considered, but based on feedback from the community and testing from my beta testers I decided not to do that. You could always use a clamp from the hardware store to hold them in place if that is a feature you would like.

You could tape or glue weights to the underside of your current Lazy Kate and probably get it working better for you if you want to try that.

Yes, once I have it shipping I will release the files. I will note that it doesn't 3D print that well because the rods are pretty thin and weak. Plus getting the correct magnets will be difficult. But I will release the files for those who might be able to use them.
