I just bought a Nano 2 and it does NOT work for me. It will spn the leader yarn but it REFUSES to spin fibre. I have watched loads of videos and no matter what l do, it still doesn’t spin 😭.

I always thought it lifts from the table because of the relatively short upper clamp part, not that it is about the lower plastic clamp part as this abtually sits pretty well at mine. Sure, it is lifting higher the more you tighten it, but for not using a clamp at all or to loosen it so that it is not holding in place properly the yarn counter is not heavy enough to stay where it should stay

Question: Is there a fix in the works for the bobbins having seams in the whorl where the tension line goes? I’ve had my tension/brake line snap a good four or five times in the 4 weeks I’ve had my EEW 6.1. It took a while to figure out it’s because the bobbins weren’t totally cleaned up after printing, and there’s a hard plastic seam that eventually “saws” the twine in half; I use a nail file on any new ones, plus switched out the twine with wax-coated cotton cord. It helps a bit, but it seems to throw off the balance enough to cause vibration.

Omgosh, I've been using it wrong this whole time! I didn't realize it is supposed to sit flat on the table. I have it hanging down from the table below the clamp. Works great that way, but maybe I should try it as intended.

Do you think it would help the former style to attach a piece of foam, furniture leg pad, 1" strip of vetwrap wrapped around the end, etc. to build up the end?
@DreamingRobotsBlog2 күн бұрын
The clamp that ships with the EEW Yarn Counter has a little rubber pad. I think a soft foam pad wouldn't be a good idea, but a thicker rubber one would probably help. However, I don't think anything would be as good as this articulating head. I do plan to put a little rubber pad on it when I make the final version for my products, but that's hardly even needed with this version because it works so well.

Just bought a Nano 2, I've been spinning on drop spindles for nearly 2 years now but held off getting a wheel or e-spinner because of cost and space... had my eye on one of these for a while and am now incredibly excited to get going!

That looks great! Will the flyer still fit into the bottom when the hooks are attached?
@DreamingRobotsBlog10 күн бұрын
The current plan is not to do this. My beta testers all said they wouldn't put the flyer in that location very often so the increased size wouldn't be justified. But it is a question I'm constantly reevaluating.

@@DreamingRobotsBlog Does the flyer fit into the bottom when the battery is there? Or are they two different storage spaces?
@DreamingRobotsBlog9 күн бұрын
@@MarieMitarotondo It won't fit at the same time the battery is there. I think that should be fine because the battery is easy to take out and since you are already taking time to fold the EEW Fold the extra time to take out the battery is minimal.

Thank you! I spin ultrafine lace weight yarn. This means that within a few bobbins, a tiny groove started to appear. My daughter has a friend at uni who owns a 3-D printer. I texted her a link to the website and two days later, that friend had printed me 16 orifice hole inserts. That should keep me going for quite a while. For those who don’t have access to a 3-D printer or a friend with a 3-D printer: I found that the next best thing is… UV builder gel for nails. Especially the kind that self-levels. Apply with a toothpick, wait for a few seconds to level out. If need be, hold the flyer in such a way to allow gravity to let the gel smooth out in the right direction. Harden with a UV light for as long as the instructions of the gel prescribe. Remove sticky residue with a bit of alcohol on a cotton swab. You won’t have rough edges and any bumps you want to remove are easily dealt with using extra fine grit sandpaper wrapped around a chopstick. There are trial size UV gel kits with lamps available really cheap online and one bottle or pot should last you a really long time if you're not into nail art. Incidentally, builder gel is very useful for a slew of tiny repairs around the house. So is polygel, its more 'sculptable' cousin. I wouldn't recomlend polygel for orifice hole repairs (too fiddly) but your mileage may vary.

I agree that I would love a carder with the option to buy different TPI drums. I have a giant electric with 120 TPI thay I got for processing alpaca, but that’s about all it does well so it sits idle the majority of times.

I love the folding idea! I have a 6 that i spin both art yarn and silk. That would make the rpm display really handy. As I often switch between, and this would make it easy to replicate what I was working on. Could the flyer store in the battery case? As long as the hooks don't catch art yarn, I'm good with whatever material they are made of. I prefer a hard case to a bag, for protection. I use a vintage train case for my 6. A fold would give more room in my case for full bobbins, an issue that I see with you having when deciding on a bag size. Thanks for all you do! Both on equipment and keeping costs down.
