I really enjoy spinning. I don't do it often enough to be very good at it, but I love the whole process, of all the things I do, it is the most relaxing. Since I redecorated the porch at the back of my house it is the perfect place for my Ashford Spinning Wheel and I to enjoy a few hours! Pink spinning on a cold day surrounded by colour. What's not to like!
I carried on spinning and made some green fibre to knit another project. That video will be over on my Patreon channel on Friday. Patrons enjoy extra content for the price of a posh coffee or a magazine. Videos, chats, crafts, behind the scenes, my garden, polls, Q&A's and so much more right back to the start of 2019! Find out more here -
/ thelasthomelyhouse
The shop is being restocked with new things every month. Check here to see what Last Homely House things are for sale. Very soon the latest Jigsaw will be for sale! keep a look out if you are a Jigsaw fan, they sold very quickly last time!
www.thelasthomelyhouse.co.uk
Also on the website is a new feature called Kate's Supplies www.thelasthomelyhouse.co.uk/...
This is the place where you can find out about all the things I love to use here. I get asked questions about this all the time and so I hope this new page will answer some of your questions.
All the music I use here is from the Royalty Free Subscription site - Epidemic Sound. Anna chooses most of it and today they are
Once You Choose Hope
The Soul
Thanks so much for watching.
Take care and I'll see you next time
Love
Kate

I’m so thankful for your videos Kate. This one came on, and Ian, my three year old said (quite wistfully), “that’s my grandma. Mom, that’s my grandma!” My little ones don’t have grandmas, and so your videos bring such a gentle, lovely energy for them to listen to with me. Thank you.

That’s the best reason to spin! Thanks for sharing this. So often on social media, all you see is very thin/fine yarn which looks like commercial yarn. That’s boring. Happy spinning!

When I see this kind of video where you are using a spinnng wheel, I always think to myself...who thought about how to design, make and of course use a machine like this...there were some very clever people around in the past...including reverend Spooner...because I do like a spit of binning...

Kate. I must tell you that you are so soothing to my soul. I lost vision in my eye back in October. Since then I have been struggling with various problems. I found that listening to your videos on KZfaq helped me calm down. My sight was restored just recently but I felt like you were with me through it all. You made me feel like everything would be all right and it was. Thank you and sending you many blessings.

Oh my gosh! You brought back childhood memories. When I was a little girl. Mama Mini and Papa Charlie had an old barn. We were not suppose to play in the barn. But us kids did anyway. We went up to the hey loft and arranged the hey bales into rooms for our spaceship. The Spinning wheel you have that you are working on. We found an old one out in the barn somewhere. We took it up to the hey loft to use as our steering wheel for our spaceship. Love it. Thanks for bringing back memories of my childhood.

The world is so fraught with terrible news and I discovered Kate and with her chat as well as spinning wool series I am made whole once again. Kate when your spinning again, think about putting some of those beautiful hanks you card into the shop! I know I would love to knit with it.. Now when you told us Norma passed over the Rainbow Bridge, I sat and cried for the longest time and when I see her I still shed tears, I never saw a car with such adoration on her features as Norma did with you...Now that was Love.. I just popped in to say I am one of those who sit on the Lime Green Sofa and like I said when life gets chaotic I go to The Last Homely House to find Kate and listen to her wonderful chats. THANK YOU for being in my life, a most wonderful gift to have at any time.

Creativity means a lot to me too. I tell my family that it ‘calms my mind’ . I’m lucky enough to be able to do something creative every day, it’s not much but my mind needs it and I love it. I crochet and knit baby things…… small and easy to focus on. I give them all away to Baby Basics or similar outlets. My daughter is a health visitor and she sometimes finds homes for my creations. I had a stroke 4 yrs ago and it’s left me with a few problems but on the whole I’m lucky and ‘count my blessings’ every day. Yes, I make my items with love that salves my soul😍.

He starting making a spinning wheel for each girl, starting with the oldest and working his way down. He passed away before he got through the list, and being the youngest granddaughter I didn’t receive a wheel. Thankfully, a wonderful cousin gave me his mothers spinning wheel! I have an old Ashford that I bought in the late '70's that looks like that. I spun 2200 pounds of wool on it, but now I use my Haldane Orkney wheel to spin and I ply on the Ashford wheel. I use my walking wheel for heavier (woolen spun) yarn, but since the Covid nonsense it has been 2 ply worsted for socks and now to weave for cloth.
