this was taken from the 2008 world pipe band championships in Glasgow Scotland, this band is composed of the best solo and band grade 1 and open players from around the world. the all got together for the first time 1 weeks before the worlds. if you want to learn more about this band there is a documentary about them called "On The Day"

I have listened to this msr and medley probably 10 times now and it gets better every time. The i have never seen a band come together so well, i don't know how much i would pay to play with these guys/girls. If they make another legendary band Im going to see them live for sure.

There are mistakes in the description, naming the first tune: it is NOT the Edinburgh Police Pipers, it is called "The Clan MacRae Society", composed by P/M Willie Ferguson. Also the reel is NOT The Brown Haired Maiden, it is called "John Morrison of Assynt House", composed by P/M Peter MacLeod Snr. All three tunes in the MSR set can be found in the Scots Guards Book 3.

Absolutely fantastic! One of the best pipe bands I've ever heard. What a treat it would be to hear you all play live. Ever come to Oregon? Portland Highland Games is played at Mt Hood College in Gresham Oregon and Is a great well attended Highland games celebration. Would love to see you all there sometime. They usually happen around the 21st of July each year. This year is our 60th year celebration. Should be a blast. Again, What a treat to hear such an amazing pipe band! Thanks!

Im not AndrewYuPiper, But i can give some answers! This is multiples pieces of music, they first play their MSR ( March, Strathspey, and Reel). The tune are all listed at the beginning. At around 00:15 Then they play their Medley set, which again. Tunes are givin at about 5:28 . The performance was at the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green i believe. I hope a somewhat answered your question!

maybe so, but if you have the capabilities your goal is to go & win and maintain championship at the worlds. Im sure each one has a few they mentor, and their hearts are still pure for pipe bands and whats behind the pipes and drums. I can at least speak on behalf of John Fisher and Curt Watts two guys that helped me out, and what they do for the next gen. of drummers

It be dung . For Roddy Couldnt do it with the Power to many high flying solo pipers actually The Power didnt WIN the piping much if AT ALL EARLT CHANTER WIRLDS 2002 . SACK PIPERS NIT DRUMMERS or up COWAL 2002 WON THE DRUMMIG MORE. NO DRUMMING PRIZES BETWEEN END OF JOHN SCULLIONS REIGN 2002 NONE AND START OF THE BIG LAD JORGENSEN TOOK OVER 2014 OR 15.

Good thing about this band is, NO bloody big pause between tunes. They hit the change and that's the way it should be.

Nice sounding Pipes, they sound like a pipe band not the high-pitched sqeaking things everyone seems to be playing in their race to hit higher pitches particularly on the upper hand..only a learner but I known what sound I prefer and this is it, thanks clean, mellow and I aspire to have my pipes sounding like this

The Spirit of Scotland Pipe Band qualified for the final of the World Pipe Band Championships by taking 1st and 3rd in piping, 9th in drumming and 3rd in ensemble. An incredible achievement for a band that came together as a unit one week before the contest. In the final the band performed to a very high level gaining a very creditable 11th place overall which included a top 6 mark for ensemble!

Great performance and interesting bass-heavy drone blend. Sorry I hate the flattened low G's of modern chanters. It's the job of the fingers not the pipemaker's crutch to bring out the birls and taorluaths etc. at the cost of melody tonality.

Great band. But I think it will go down as a one-off. I think the excitement got them all there for 2008 but it's a costly exercise in all departments, so the gloss may have rubbed off just a little bit now. These people are all busy enough in their piping and drumming as it is. If they bobbed up in the states, it would be for an all-expenses drinking festival, less the music. ;-)

Hilfe, was hat der 2/4 Marsch ein Tempo... Dazu kann man gar nicht mehr marschieren. Roddy McLeod hat einen Kaffee zu viel getrunken vielleicht ist deshalb das ganze Set so schnell.

This band was made up of people from U.S, Scotland, Germany, tons of places. In fact there's a fair few 'yanks' in the band lol.

Uh Alex Duthart lol bit next time I see John I'll tell him you think he can't drum lol and who are you again? A fucking nobody?? Oh and me ya I've been to world's played with edmonton Caledonia Alberta Caledonia and 78th fraser. Know John really well actually he's one of the best on the planet when talking to Jim he even agreed.. said he didn't play in Shotts for no reason. Or gets calls every year from every band begging for him to join. Go back to your grade 4 band and keep practicing sweetheart. Come say hi to me and the world's after I walk off the field. Hell who knows may even give you a free lesson. .. better yet John can 😉

Yeah im just a nobody, if thats what you call a 7 times world drum corps champion at grade 1 level with various bands. And guess what, im entitled to my opinion. I dont rate him to be anywhere near good enough to be lead drummer of this band. Its 2015, not the 70's.

Drumming to the opening hornpipe is nothing short of abnoxious, horrible, horrible. i do believe if they had better drumming they would have done even better
