Spix's Macaw - Extinct in the Wild
Today we proudly present footage from the turbulent ACTP-Spix-kindergarten. Here you are able to see some of our oldest birds of this beautiful specie from the current breeding season 2020. The energetic parrots are among the rarest species of the world and are between three and six months old. The Spix's Macaw has been considered extinct in the wild since 2000.
In 2016 we started the "Spix Release Project" together with ICMBio and with the support of the Belgian Pairi Daiza Foundation. These heartwarming footages show that all efforts are definitely worthwhile. How are you doing while you are watching it?

Stolz präsentieren wir euch heute Aufnahmen vom turbulenten ACTP-Spix-Kindergarten. Hier seht ihr einige unserer ältesten Nachzuchten dieser wunderschönen Vögel aus der aktuellen Brutsaison 2020. Die munteren Papageien gehören zur seltensten Art der Welt und sind zwischen drei und sechs Monate alt. Der Spix-Ara gilt seit dem Jahre 2000 als in freier Wildbahn ausgestorben.
Im Jahr 2016 starteten wir, gemeinsam mit ICMBio sowie mit Unterstützung der Belgischen Pairi Daiza Foundation das „Spix Release Project“. Diese Aufnahmen zeigen, dass sich alle Bemühungen lohnen und lassen unsere Herzen höher schlagen. Wie geht es euch, wenn ihr das seht?

Omg I'm so grateful for what you're doing, people usually just give up on a species but you are saving alot of bird species, especially the spix macaw thank you :)

They said they should be released into the wild by 2021

if u let a domesticated bird how can they survive how can they get food

They built a preparation facility to let the birds adjust to the wild behaviours of their deceased kin until 2021. One group of birds will be shipped into the preparation facility for a few years and then release them into the wild and repeat. This ongoing cycle will keep on going until the spin macaw population numbers a thousand or so birds

@@RamesP You can actually also see this stuff on their website. these birds are going to be released in Caatinga, Brazil. That is where their habitat is present. ACTP actually wants a strong base population to ensure their survival in the wild. nearly 52 of them are there in the breeding centres of Caatinga, Brazil.
