Today, with the joint task force between both the Policia Federal of Petrolina, Federal Highway Patrol Juazeiro and ICMBio, we have discussed protective measures for the transport of birds, and extended protection for their stay in the release facility as well as against poaching and poachers in the wild later.

Mit einer vereinten Einsatzgruppe aus Policia Federal of Petrolina, Federal Highway Patrol Juazeiro und ICMBio haben wir heute Schutzmaßnahmen für den Transport der Spix-Aras erörtert. Darüber hinaus wurde der langfristige Schutz der Vögel in der Auswilderungsanlage und auch die Problematik der Wilderei nach der Wiederauswilderung diskutiert.

I so want to see these guys back in the wild and thriving. As much as I love their colour and think they would make nice companions. There is o better bird than a healthy and wild free bird. Im planing on adopting a rescued parrot one day as a companion. Birds need to be admired and loved in both captivity and in the wild.

I am brazilian and I wish the population of spix's macaw got higher like 1000 individuals in captivity before leaving 50 in Caatinga. I live in Brazil and those individuals can disappear if there is no protection for them. Brazil is known by brazilians and other people as a corrupt country of birds, drugs, etc. The macaws are so beautiful and they would worth a lot to sell to other countries. Brazilian country president doesnt care about nature, you could see it on fires. I think just one fire at Caatinga can destroy a lot of the area. For it, please, let's not take a risk to loose 50 individuals of almost 200 in total. I wish the population in captivity were higher than 1000 individuals before leaving 50 at Caatinga.
