Twelve years ago, Gary Vesey left Tonragee to follow his dream of playing music full time. He found himself in the small Portuguese town of Monte Gordo (Vila Real de Santo António) not far from the Spanish border. Although he probably expected to be back in Ireland after the summer months, fate interrupted his plans and he met a local girl called Sara. And as they say the rest his history! Gary built up a very successful career and is one of the best known entertainers in the Algarve (prior to the Covid crisis) Although Gary can't work at the moment, he keeps in touch with his legions of fans by doing a live show on his Facebook page every Sunday evening. Gary and Sara were married in 2018 and now have a baby boy called James. Another sad side effect of the current crisis is that this is now the longest time he has been away without visiting his family and friends in Achill.
