Split fire has an option for the hydraulic log lifter and a platform for holding the split wood so it doesn’t fall off the machine. Granted it probably cost more but then again it comes assembled. I appreciate the comparison but it’s not really comparing two machines equipped with the same features.

Split-Fire does come with both a log table and/or a hyd log lifter if you wanted to purchase as an option - then both machines would be doing similar tasks. You did some wrestling with the wood on the Split-Fire by not using the available log lifter which acts as a table when left in the up position. In either case - over time - splitter vs. axe any day. Work smarter - not harder.

I did see the new models offer some of the features mine doesn't have- they weren't available when I bought mine. Still more expensive overall than the Ruggemade though.
@barryemslie3470
@barryemslie3470 3 жыл бұрын
@@dehavenfamilyfarm More expensive perhaps - but betting the longevity of the Split Fire would more than make up for it - not to mention the 2 way split - if you have enough helpers to keep up to it - real time save - and time is money. Any extra you pay for it, you can recoup in more wood split in less time than Rugged Made splitter. Just my thoughts. Thank you for the review. Much appreciated.

What length were those logs? They were definitely pushing the length capacity of the Split-Fire I’m guessing that is a 30” stroke model. I agree about the taller knife would be an advantage I sometimes wish I had included that option with my Split-Fire. I did get the optional log lifter just for the reasons demonstrated.

Rugged Made was my choice. I just bought and it is a workhorse. Putting together took awhile, but was worth the effort. I been splitting large rounds and the lift platform works as a table and the screen to push off is great creeping your work space clear.

I know you used what you had, but definitely wasn’t a fair comparison. Instead of using long wood which few use, should of done 5 rounds of 16” wood(most common for wood stoves), Split Fire would be done in half the time, with one guy it’s waiting for you were a single stroke your waiting for it

I like the spit-fire for the options it has that this one doesn't. Longer stroke 36", 8in higher work hight then this model as I'm a tall guy, and the log lift that works as a table to help manage the logs while splitting.

I think your observation is right, for larger blocks the RuggedMade looks like the best choice. For blocks that you only need to spit once the Split-Fire would be great, especially if you had two people working.

I understand what you are saying, but I was trying to do a comparison based on what comes standard with each machine. The log lift comes with the Rugged made- you don't have to add it as an option. Even with that in mind, the rugged made still costs less.

I prefer the Split fire. I think the log was a little too long for the split fire though. If it had been an inch shorter then I don't think you would have struggled so much at times getting the log to fit.

Thanks for the review! For this to be an apples to apples comparison the Split-Fire 3265 could be equipped with all the same options as the RuggedMade machine and then some…. All of which are available when ordering a Split-Fire! The RuggedMade splitter is made in China, whereas the Split-Fire is manufactured using strictly North American parts other than the Honda GX engine (not a clone).
@kevinleandro6367
@kevinleandro6367 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like Split-fire is bitter about losing! Oh and rugged made is made in Massachusetts (except the engine) not China like the losers claim. However, a quality clone of the split-fire is available at Harbor Freight fo a fraction of the Split-Fire and the quality seems better. Bottom line is the Split-Fire is a unique design that does have its flaws but it way overpriced, it really should be sub $1K.

I just purchased the split fire. You should have had the lift table to be apples and apples The Split fire is a sensational splitter. I’m 72 and have run splitters for 50 years. After a lot of research I chose the split fire. Why is this Guy throwing everything onto the ground. I have run my Spitfire for eight hours and I have only reached down onto the ground threetimesfor split pieces that I knocked off the tables. The fact that the Spitfire goes both back and forth is quite remarkable, but I must say you have to try it to believe it. I have advised all my friends to put theirsplitters on craigslist and buy a Spitfire.

Harbor Freight motor. On sale for $99.00 for another motor. Had one for two years, so far so good. Bought a spare because usually the carburetor gets gummed from fuel setting in tank 6 months a year. It does have a gas turn off keeping gas from staying in carburetor which helps.Just remember to turn gas off before stopping. It’s such a gas miser it runs about 2 to 3 minutes before.empty.

Yes, you did not even use the splitfire correctly. When you cut your wood you are cutting too long for the machine. You get into a rhythm when you get all the variables right. That is when you get fast. That splitfire will out work you if used correctly.

I'll take the splitfire, compact efficient and comes assembled. And why test an old version of the splitfire , these machines also come with a log lifter option. Apples to apples right, so lame in the marketing approach! In the end buy what you want just do some research to educate your self.

I tested the old version of the split-fire because that is what I owned. I do not have the money to go out and buy a brand new split-fire just to make a video. Maybe if I had 100,000 subs I could afford to, but not now. I really like the split-fire and see it comes with some new options now that weren't available when I bought mine. The fact remains though, that if a person was on a budget, the Ruggedmade is a lot cheaper :)

As a fellow splitfire owner with the log lift I see you respect the build and performance of our machines. And a machine you need to assemble is a cost cutting maneuver, still I'm not raking the coals on you. But thank you for the quick response, I also checked what best fit my needs and being a Canadian chose to keep my my investment local. Still compare comparable machine to machine or it may seem biased. Again thank you, and cheers.

To be honest, I didn't like either one of those. Might be ok for someone who doesn't split much wood, AND has all smaller pieces, but I have larger rounds to split, and I'd rather save up more money and buy something much better. SR
