Yes. There have been many games I've won/lost because someone managed to sneak in through the one lane where a team-fight wasn't happening, and win the game. Even done it myself a few time, usually by place a ward next to the enemy inhibitor or nexus, then teleporting in and doing as much damage as I can before the enemy team realizes what's happening.

Split pushing makes the game more interesting because it forces all players to account for mobility and map control. If 5v5 were all anyone wants to do, summoners rift could be condensed to a single lane.

Honestly, I would assume that yes, it IS viable, just really situational since the best kind of splitpushing require coordination from your teammates. But even without it, you can still use it to your advantage in a place like Soloque to where it can be pretty consistent (At least I think soo).

As someone who recently switched partially to trundle top I would say yes. That sweet 110 atk speed with sheen and q extra dmg aa reset demolish is so funny

When there are no neutral objectives up, Master Yi is a good split-spusher. On-hit Yi builds enough attack speed to cap it (at least with R), and it is one of the best duelists. Depending on how many enemies (and with how much cc) come to stop you, R can be used to either kill them or back off.

Vars what do you think of the topic "Is there too much Crowd Control" as I think it would be also a controversial topic. Most new champs do have some free CC nowadays.

When done properly with good wave management and timing splitpushing is IMO the most frustrating strategy to deal with. When refusing to group and letting the enemy win fight after fight because of it while you’re constantly dying on your attempt to conquer an inhibitor on your own I also am super frustrated :)))

Pre season 5 I backdoored games like once a month it was quiet fun, and season 6 I mained Udyr with devour/sated Triforce and zzrot I was that guy, and I miss it so much,

I think you are missing several important splitpushing trophes. - first of, rift herald. Rift herald is an easy strategy where if you manage to secure this early, usually low-contested objective, you can now apply pressure and leave. Rift will barrel down a turret or 2 if the enemy doesn't react and stop it first, leaving you either with time to achieve your goal somewhere else, OR force powerful tower dives on whoever decides to react to the herald. - secondly, there are runes that help you splitpush. A yorick or nasus with demolish can easily destroy structures within 10 seconds and leave. - thirdly, there is non-dedicated pushing: strategies like rift herald or sidelane yorick maiden can win you the game without having to be present yourself. This means the 4 v 5 is not a problem, as you essentially have divided yourself between the teamfight and the sidelane.

I will always remember that one Yorick game where everyone was mid and I just walked though bot lane and gutted the nexus.

to be honest, I love split pushing, more than teamfighting even, it's the only relaxing part of a league game, so I'll try to do it whenever possible. Luckily for me the champs I play have high mobility or cc to save myself from a counter split, so it usually works nicely enough. Also I thought splitting was one of the most meta things since it's usually how I win/lose games, so it's a bit of a surprise for me to hear that it's a strategy with mediocre results compared to the regular 5v5 Tho if I were to argue that splitting is good, I'd say that is would make my team think twice before going in on a tf since they'd be outnumbered, resulting in losing the objective in exchange of no dead teammates (except for the yasuo who thought they could 1v5), some towers and perhaps an inhibitor, making the superminions spawn and apply a huge amount of pressure on that lane requiring an enemy to clear that lane constantly, otherwise they'll lose to the minions breaking everything

Man I remember when Rek’sai was the new and awesome split pusher. With her teleporting ultimate, you could essentially split push 2 lanes at once, usually bot and top

Yes, at least in low to mid elos, anyone who knows how to split push whilst being in the opposite lane as the main objective (Split top if Dragon is spawning, Spilt bot if Baron is spawning) is a very strong tactic. The pressure it creates is nutty. Add to that the split pushing champion with TP and it's pretty insane.

I miss S10. It was the first season I started playing. With Tryndamere, farming all over the map and breaking tower was super satisfying.

Honestly. I feel that gwen can be an amazing split pusher as well. Her wave clear is pretty good. She doesnt have great mobility, but her dash and hallowed mist are still good tools to get you out of tight situations She absolutely chunks turrets in the late game. And she can compitently 1v1 a decent amount of champions

During the mid-late game I split bot as supp Zilean up to second tower so i can stock up on gold, ward the enemy jungle and bait the enemy team into chasing since everyone underestimates how fast that man can go

Yesterday I've played a ranked flex game as Yorick top, and took first tower at 9 minutes, inhib at 15, and we ended the game by 20 minutes without the enemy team basically being able to notice what was going on. That game got me into gold in ranked flex. And I've had many situations like this in both solo quee and flex. So I would say if done properly, absolutely yes

I want to place Yorick as a god-tier split pusher now. The thing is, Yorick is the only champion in the game that can split push well being at the team fight. You place your maiden at bot side for example and then you go to baron. I had a game 2 days ago where I did this but not much was happening at baron, more like turning around each other. Then my maiden came to the inhibitor, I TP in and finished the game in about 20sec (thanks swain for stoping recall with W). Yorick is I think also the best champion to counter split pushers, again you place your maiden at the other side of the map then the tryndamere for example well you stop the tryndamere from tacking your tower. Hope I convinced some people, good luck on the Rift

XIn Zhao's a good split-pusher too. He doesn't have the greatest wave clear ever, but he has three empowered auto-attacks on a single ability and the CD is ridiculously low. And since he's basically all auto-attacks, he usually builds tons of attack speed (BotRk, Trinity Force, Wit's End), which coupled with the buff on his Audacious Charge means he can take down towers almost as fast as Fiora, Gwen or Tryndamere.

As a someone who played Quinn pretty often, I’m really, REALLY missing Sanguine Blade

Great Splitpusher is Kled. His massive HP pool together with Demo rune, His W and his ability for quick repositions (R), Disengages (E) and combat ability to easilly 2v1 midgame suits his perfectly for this role. Ad Hydra being one of 1st items he builds, he also have fair clear capability. He even fits to Teleport strategy as he can port really far away and still make it just on time pretty fine.

splitpushing would be a nice re-addition since right now, as a top player, the only real role it feels like most champions have to actually impact the game is "hehe frontline" unless you exclusively play Camille, Renekton (save for the gutting worlds patch) or Darius, who really shine in either picking people off midgame or running over a teamfight while laning relatively safely. Sort of goes alongside there being only one way to win as mentioned previously. Though this might bring things like Vayne, Kennen, Kalista back into the toplane meta to try and help keep the pressure off the splitpush with range advantage, it would feel way better to be able to win those lanes and still impact the game even if bot is 0/6 at 10 minutes (on a good day)

You could potentially do a video on warding and vision. I'm very, very bad at this game and would appreciate a video on where and when to ward. Like go over each role and how they could use their wards to the greatest effect.

I learned to play by playing with my friends and even most of my time playing is playing with friends. I gravitated towards Top, with strong, juggernaut champions like Sett, Morde, and Garen and had it drilled into me that if 2-4 people are already at dragon/baron, i should push the closest lane i had to create pressure. Either they would get distracted by dragon and I get a tower or two, or they would go after me freeing up a dragon. After the 15-20 minute mark, i start to roam a lot in order to get objectives such as towers, and i can't really imagine just staying in one lane the entire game

Just want to point this out, but Tristana is also a great split pusher. She’s a adc, so that works. Her Q helps to bring down the turret faster, her W and R are easy get out of jail free cards, and E is very very useful. Her E not only clears waves, but also attaches to the turret, deal damage, and clear a minion wave. I play her top so it’s been really easy at times when I get the chance. She’ll bring down a turret in no time flat.

as a mr singed man, i miss the old split pushing supplements that benefitted him like ZZ portal, anyone else remember seeing Singed420 proxying with ZZ portal in the enemy base eating up all 3 lanes CS for himself? XD also anyone can split push is well stated, i once started a slow split push as Ivern, i used E on the backline to weaken the enemy wave, and forced a 5v5 siege, using Locket of Solari & Redemption we kept the pressure real heavy, eventually, this HUGE minion wave in the side lane reached enemies towers and of course some one left to deal with it, we forced a 5v4 & won the game off of that, subtle yet very effective.

I loved splitpushing back in the day. I used to do it every game, but now it's so incredibly risky with the enemy being able to catch you super easy and objectives being so incredibly valuable.

My favorite thing to do. Especially with Yorick. More fun to do with Yorick send the maiden to a lane and go on an another.

Honestly it feels like splitpushing is the strongest strategy for solo que, at least before high diamond/masters anyway. Mainly because it doesn’t rely on anything other than you being ahead and your champion being able to side-lane, which most bruisers and assassins can do well. If I’m ahead on talon I can easily duel anyone if I play the fight correctly, I agree that playing 5v5 is always an option but if your team is behind or just refuses to engage it’s usually a lot better to just split push and do something instead of sitting mid with your team while the other team wave-clears.

AP volibear is a surprisingly good splitpusher due to the passive and E scaling mixed with the ult, and being able to sustain with W & E in 1v2s which would be tricky to win. Basically become a Base-Bear

Ziggs should get an honorable mention because of his absolutely insane tower damage. He does by far the most damage in the entire game to turrets

i really think they should change the nexus turrets back to when they shot continuous lasers that increased their damage over time. The nexus just felt safer back then and sieging wasnt as hard to defend from

I teleport split push with Jax and Fiora all the time since they can 1v1 pretty much anyone in the game. But it only works if your team is smart enough to push when the enemy team comes after you and not try to come your direction

I've had more fun playing Yorick than just about anyone else, but the safe windows of opportunity to splitpush are rare. I eventually just gave up and switched to other MOBAs.

I'm gonna just say, my *main* playstyle in *ranked* is playing off meta champs in support role and split pushing almost the *entire* game, either their whole team pushes a 4v5 defensive mid barrier that slows them while I take base, or half or more of them come at me while my team hard pushes mid or retakes our base. It's the most OP strategy if used right and is why I consistently rank Gold/Plat.

I think that illaoi is one of the best split pushers in the game, only for the fact that she has an amzing 1v5 so she really can just do what she wants if she manage to get out of lane even or wining

I credit the enemy team's obliviousness more than my Champ's strength but I once split pushed bot and got tier 2 tower, inhib tower, and inhib... *with Zillian!*

the reason top and mid take teleport in higher elo games is due to splitpushing and wave management, you want to shove the waves before an objective so that you can force an enemy off of the objective or they risk losing a kill or two in gold if not a tower on top of that so it allows side laners to farm on the opposite side of the map and apply pressure while being present for objective fights

You don't know the terror of split pushing until you see an Aphelios with Hullbreaker & red/white kill your towers and your tanks in 2 seconds each

Personally, both the winning and losing side of it aside, I find split pushing to be a good mechanic to learn for any player. As he said that the game has become so snowbally that most games are done after a certain point, I find learning to semi split push while behind allows for the opportunity to gain a little bit more gold and apply pressure to allow your team to try and hold on better. I understand that most other players might not understand, but it's better than taking a losing 5v5 anyways. So why not get a little more gold to carry no? :)

The thing is that even if your team doesn’t stall for time you are spending the entire time getting gold and exp which means that you often end up being deceptively strong leading to the enemy team send one person to stop the 0/0/0 yorick and failing to realise that he has 2 levels and 2 full items on their entire team and is able to 1v2 and continue his push alleviating pressure from the rest of his team

I split push everytime cause ur team either has someone who is so fed that they can take on entire enemy team by themselves or ur team is so behind that any team fight u show up too u have already lost cause enemy team is fed or knows how to team fight well, but when I splitpush I force a team to make a decision and in soloq where there is a lot of bad decision making i end up having the fed person answering me or the individual crucial for the team fight answering or I take everything and base with a tidy profit

I've had some success split pushing (not to the win condition but as a general focus to disrupt the enemy team) with Teemo's still absurd map control.

Honestly I think split pushing is better overall especially in low elo since everyone groups mid and fights for nothing

Shyvanna should be an honorable mention, she can split push lanes and shred turrets with her high dmg (plus her q), she can run away with her w, insane pressure from her dmg and dragon form

Off topic, but you should do a video on Champs that use enemy waves like Irelia, Yasuo, etc

well as someone who has played dota, the fact that you can tp back to base with no cost or cooldown makes it almost impossible to win games out of splitpushing, in dota it was limited and even if you got cancelled, you had a 1 min cooldown on the tp scrolls. this makes splitpushing and base race so rare in lol while it was at least more common and very fun when it happened and satisfying when you won the base race in dota. imo it would be cool and help in that matter if we had at least a 15 or 30 sec cd on recall, it would also make cancelling recall in lane more rewarding etc.

As ah splitpush main id say that its situationaly viable. Its great being able to crack down a tower when enemies leave you alone for a minute to aply more pressure, give your team a gold injection and create new ways into enemy jungle. It shouldn't however be a top priority. Only splitpush with protection like: Deep wards in river or jungle, pressure on othee lanes from your mates, enemies doing big objectives and your other mates scouting enemy jungle.

Semi related: I won a game on a 1 15 gangplank where I fell behind and just went the inting sion with hullbreaker playstyle and somehow won with it then proceeded to get 14 day suspension since it was picked up as inting by a bot even though I was the one that last hit the nexus in a split push.

I remember climbing starting from silver to plat 1 using my "Mundo Dislike towers" strat I would buy all three raptor cloak items, yes even ohm, and also go demolisher and titanic hydra and act like I'm nasus stacking up top and never leaving

Well, personally when I see an enemy doing splitpush I just say “there it goes, the idiot strategy” ‘cause as you mentioned, it is more an annoying strategy rather than a viable one, yet what pisses me of is that my own team usually decides to ignore the enemy who’s splitpushing saying that “stoping him is a toplaner job”, yes, they might be right, it’s just that sometimes there no way for you to stop a Yorick alone, and when my team decides to help me, it is already too late as the Yorick, Nasus, etc. Is too ahead to be stopped by trading, So conclusion, splitpushing annoys me because of the usual lack of capacity my teammates and I have to stop it

Split pushing is viable but right now the game is so complex that the average player can't do it properly because right now you need all 4 members in your team to be in the same page but before you could just go for a tower and the enemy team would not know how to react since EVERYONE IN LEAGUE HAVE IMPROVED THEM SELF THEIR MECHANICS BUT THEIR MENTAL AND CORE TEAM GAMEPLAY HAVEN'T so yeah split push is posible but your team need to be able to pull it up as 5 so you yourself don't fail

@Vars the thing I like more about your videos is why and when to do things or buy itens.I'd never know that A. Chains were good against splitpushers if it wasn't for this video. Couldn't you make a video explaining wich itens are good for what? I bet there are many like me who thinks that stormrazor and rapidfire cannon are almost the same

What about Heimer's split push with his turrets? If both the laner and the turret are low, you can ult Q under turret during cannon wave and you're almost guaranteed to get at least a kill or the tower (unless the jungler comes, but that opens up opportunity elsewhere for your team)

The biggest problem I have with splitpushing is Tryn and inting Sion. I am one of the few people I know that defends Sion's passive, I think it's a great disruption tool in a teamfight, something he is supposed to do as a tank. But killing towers in seconds while being almost unkillable and then still needing to be taken care of after he died is just a nuisance.

In Season 1: aAa won a tournamet using Twisted Fate and Summoner Spell - 'Fortify': Strat went like that: -TF split pushed, using his (back then, completely global) ult alongside TP. -Meanwhile the rest of the team used wave clear and the (now dead) Summoner Spell - 'Fortify' (which would render a Turret Invincible as well as make it shoot faster for a few seconds!) to win should they get dove. Enemy team would have to send someone after TF to make him stop his pushing - but then TF could use his ult to join his team for a 5v4. This might not sound so impressive now, but we live in an age where split pushing, rotating, TP ganks and objective control are just a usual part of the game, however, in those times: League was just about an extremely long (and lonely), 20-min-long laning phase (with very minimal ganks) that eventually transitioned into a few fights that decided the game, and that's it. We didn't have "macro", and in general, a player going to sidelanes just to push would be considered an act of griefing (refusing to play with the team).

As someone who split pushes on four roles (cuz I suck at mid), yes Cuz I can tilt toxic ADCs as Yuumi mostly, they almost always spam missing ping when I split push while nothing happens on the rift

Something only briefly mentioned in this video is that splitpushing gets a lot better if the enemy team is as or more uncoordinated than yours is. This happens a lot in SoloQ. The scenarios you proposed assume that your team is worse than the enemy, while that's not always the case, despite what everyone seems to think. Splitpushing may not often be an effective wincon, but it is very good at taking control of the map and shifting pressure. 1 good splitpush can often completely shift tempo in the enemy's favour by opening up a giant hole on your side of the map, and obviously vice versa. The team on the recieving end now has drastically less freedom on the map.

iit's usually my go to strat when we can no longer win teamfights and i can 1 v 1 anyone on the enemy team it works pretty well if the team avoids getting engaged (thats a big IF but it's better that just trying to win an impossilbe teamfight)
