Two year slater but. Best splitting wood video over the whole 'ternet, period. 1 - splitting green wood harder 2 - on soft ground harder x2 3 - tips with old small axe to draw the split line, wood wedge etc Real life people vs yt posers, YOU WIN. Hands down. Best regards from an old dude that just spend his afternoon in the woods the same way, just several thousands miles east but hey.

Man... welcome to my world. I had a splitting axe which worked fine on Ash and Beech... but the wet white oak, it was like splitting concrete. Maul helped. But it is still HARD work. I have 6 more rounds to go and I'm probably 20 years older than you. LOL

I've found that green wood splits easiest when frozen.

Been dealing with cutting and splitting 2 wet large post oaks trees and a large white oak tree that blew down across my road in a wind event. Made a couple of wedges out of a large white oak limb. The wooden wedges were game changers. Really hard blows with 4lb hammer would cause the metal wedges to bounce out. Medium blows would make slow progress. A few times made a groove with a chainsaw and used the wooden wedges.

Nice video, appreciate the advice, but I just kept waiting for the head of your maul to come flying off the handle with any random strike. It looks like it's at least 50% off the top already - how is it even staying on!? Be careful!

start with a bull dog wedge works every time

Cleve the bark edges the same way you you took the first slab off all the way around. Then start cleaving towards the center. I rarely use wedges and always in conjunction with the maul. Keep burning that wood. Nothing better on those cold winter days. 7:08

Get a Fiskars maul, and I would've taken out that round in less than a minute.

How about you get out there working 80-100 hours a week and still come home, take care of your family, tend the land, and chase your dream of helping educate people on how to be self sufficient instead of spreading useless criticism.
