I've been using the GB splitting maul for 3 years now and i really like it. It's a lot easier than the old hardware store one. I sharpen it each season and it really performs well.

You got another new Sub here. Love the Stihl, I just treated myself to a 261c, nice little saw. Thanks for the review on the mauls, I've been using the cheap red Truper maul to split roughly 2 cord so far this year, but I've shelled out the cash and ordered a Gransfors. Your video has got me even more excited about it. Good luck on future videos.

Just the basics your thoughts on it likes dislikes and how you feel a tree your style. I own 2 ms441 magnum saws one is the mtronic version. They are awesome saws just would like to get a ms661 or I don't know if you have seen the new 592xp from Husqvarna that's another one I'd like to get.

I'm not a husqvarna man, myself. I'll only ever buy Stihl. I have a 461 and 362, non mtronic. Husky may out cut Stihl but, won't outlast one in my opinion. I have several saw videos on here if you'd like to check them out!

I own the Gransfors Splitting Maul and are happy with it. It's also nice to have something that are hand forged. I have the smaller splitting axe for smaller stuff, thst you can use with one hand if needed.

I doubt that was actually an honest comparison. I have used two of these and for me the Collins worked best. When a splitting tool sticks, it's not a good splitter. Haven't used the middle one but the shape looks good. There was also two extra licks counted for the Collins that did nothing.
@knotbreaker2 жыл бұрын
Well, I hate that you feel that way. I assure you, that if there's anything I do right, it's honesty. You're more than welcome to purchase the tools and try for yourself. Feel free to report back if you do.

Unfortunately, helko is a poor representation of German craftsmanship nowadays. Sad but true.
@matthiasg.253 Жыл бұрын
@@knotbreaker why? Over here in Germany we can’t buy anything from Helko Werk, I think they only produce it here and sell it in the US by their Own Company „Helko Werk North America“. Over here we can buy Adler which is the same, and their customer service is great!!!

@@knotbreaker Ok but htis can happen with every other Product/Company...
@knotbreaker Жыл бұрын
It certainly can. How a company handles it, however is different. In my Council FE6 video, the same thing happened. Before I had a chance, THEY reached out to me. They ultimately sent me a new handle and I was fine with it. The Council FE6 was HALF the price of the Helko.

It takes more than a log to compare splitters. In reality the same splitter will split one log better than the next.
@knotbreaker Жыл бұрын
It sure does.
@olehemlock2 жыл бұрын
Skill supersedes choice of tool. If you have split wood for years you would have noticed it was not a fair comparison. I don’t think he realizes it was not a fair comparison. It looks like his hitting all 3 rounds in the same place but technically he is not the first round he’s splitting is right in the core of the tree. Toughest place to split. Watch the video and you see the other 2 rounds were not split in the same place.
