I love the idea of a used kid cuisine way more than a never used cuisine. Someone brings it in for lunch but doesn’t finish it, then the cashier says “we can sell that!” without elaborating.

Ours literally looks like a cross between grandma's closet and a garage sale. There's literally nothing there but garbage, and maybe if you're lucky you'll find a really creepy doll that someone hand customized. At least I was able to find a discount copy of The Dark Crystal last time I was there, but that was the best thing I got there.

This comment section is the perfect place to brag about the cute little mini CRT television I just bought! I already have a couple of the big ones, and I'd been kinda-sorta hoping to find a small one, although I hadn't put much thought into it. I got it for $18 and I could probably sell it for at least $50 if I wanted to, the smaller CRTs are actually much more sought after than the larger ones. Retro gamers like to use them, I think they prefer the smaller ones because they're so much more portable. Mildly interesting fact: a 24 inch CRT is about 4 times heavier than a 12 inch CRT, because of math and physics or something. CRTs are vacuum sealed so they actually have a massive suction force on the inside, and the glass screens need to be thick enough to withstand that force. And because the screen is square-ish, that means that a screen "twice the size" actually has four times as much surface area. That's why CRTs are so damn heavy, and why you never see a CRT larger than 34 inches or something like that. Cheers :)

Your DVD finds at Value Village reminded me of an amusing anecdote: I used to work in a movie rental store, and in 2005, a woman came in asking if we had a copy of a movie called "Chowse". We all kept scratching our heads trying to think what on earth this movie was that none of us had heard of. It turned out to be the new Jason Statham movie "Chaos", and she literally just didn't understand how to pronounce the word. Definitely had a good laugh over that.

Value Village puts the price tag on the DVDs' spines because they use the different colors to tell how long they've been on the shelf. The tag color for new items changes every week, and if something sits on the shelf for 2 months, it gets recycled.

The Castle is a classic Australian comedy that was quoted endlessly in Australia by everyone in the late nineties (and continues to be on occasion). I wasn’t a fan of it myself, but I did understand why other Aussies liked it. It also features a young Eric Bana, who went on to star in The Hulk, Blackhawk Down, and the internationally underrated but seriously awesome Chopper, based on a true story about criminal underworld figure Mark “Chopper” Read.

Just a random note; I used to work at Value Village in Canada and the reason the stickers are on the spine like that is for the employees to see the colour of the sticker. Each colour is the different days those items come out and they usually cycle through them throughout the week. An employee would go through at the end of the week and grab the colour that was at the beginning of the week and usually, the price decreased based on how long it's been there. Not sure if they still do this, but it also frustrated me how those stickers covered the name. They did it on books too but thankfully it was a much smaller sticker.

Ian I’ve thought this for like a decade or something but your editing is the best I’ve ever seen and your videos never fail to make me bust out laughing multiple times. You can make anything entertaining, please take us thrift shopping with you more often

some people might question ian's decision but i think i too would buy a movie called "australiens" if we're being entirely honest.

If you ever visit the UK you'll find a ton of DVD's in our charity shops, there's always a bookshelf or two filled to the brim! Though for some reason our charity shops no longer sell CD's, at least my local ones anyway. But I love a good rummage through second hand shops, you'll never know what you'll find and the money you spend usually goes to a good cause! :D

Used to drive by the Route 66 Drive-In all the time as I kid. I was so little, that I thought it was one of the biggest structures on Earth. Never got to see a movie in it, as it was closed in 1993 and demolished. A true loss.

I really enjoy your unique style of comedy and your style of editing! I could watch you do a video on pretty much anything and be entertained. However “casTle” and “haulf price” and “bok of the back” had me rewinding a few times to make sure I wasn’t having a brain episode - thought I was tripping for a sec!! lmao

0:49 I need you to know that I was going to watch this video, but I had to pause here and go to work. Several hours later, I get back home, make some dinner, and sit down in from of my giant TV connected to my computer, and when the screen turns on I see a purple man staring back and me. I got totally jumpscared.
