So glad I opted to look this information up on KZfaq before I attempted it. I did not realize the metal ball was the Ion component and would have assumed I needed to pry that up to set the new line I am going to re-spool my downrigger with. Thank you for sharing this informative video. It helped save me a lot of grief had I just dove in and "winged" it.

You are a brave man doing that work on the water :) I would have lost something overboard! Thanks for the great how to. I just lost a ball and 90' of cable on my rigger. This helps a ton.

I have Question on how does that ball bearing for positive ion make contact to the cable with that plastic coating? I have 2 Mag 10

If only I had this as a resource years ago with my old rigger! How did you keep tension on that spool of wire? My wire always sprung off. Did you keep an elastic band on the spool? Cannon never helped me with decent instructions so we had to fumble on our own! I have had lots of real heart break when we tried to do this.

It's almost 2018, nobody uses wire anymore.

Lots of people using braid for sure, but we'll stick with our juiced up cable : )

On Cannon Mag5's or 10's you can only run wire.

Where can you get 400FT SPOOL ? I can only find 150ft spool.
