I don't know why but I never get bored of watching these train crossing videos from Europe. It seems like the United States is so much behind in a area like this with so much money is spent on it.

Dutch level crossings are actually inspired from US ones and were first installed in the 1950s. Since then they've kinda evolved positively. For the US im not too sure but they dont seem THAT bad. In Eastern Europe level crossings are not evolving... or just evolving backwards, at least the newer ones.

I love the Dutch crossings. They look so futuristic.

Great video! I like those mechanical bells, and those look like WC Hayes gate mechanisms!

Not very suprising, actually. A dutch railroad crossing is just a copy of the American railroad crossing.

@Busje19939 жыл бұрын
@SAjustusSA9 жыл бұрын

Do the lights actually keep fading out, or is it just the camera effect?
@weeardguy6 жыл бұрын
Just camera-interference. They don't do that in reality. The lights are being supplied with pulsed DC-power if I remember it right, which can interfere with a shutter-time that is being controlled automatically by the camera to adjust exposure.

Why do Dutch crossings have the best electronic bells of any country outside the United States? The Dutch e-bells are even better than 75% of American electronic bells
@GRooh8 жыл бұрын
I dont know why, but i love this crossings!
@weeardguy7 жыл бұрын
Hard to tell ;) This is one with mechanical bells to start with ;). About the e-bells: Don't forget our country is very small and thus the costs aren't as great as in the US. Alot of care was taken as well to minimize noise-pollution for people living close to the crossing (which didn't really work: since introduction of the e-bells, complaints about noise-pollution have gone up) and to minimize the scare people got with the old mechanical bells, which didn't have a fade-in effect like the electronic ones. The e-bells are evolving if I remember it right. I remember seeing a video with an e-bell that produced the mechanical bell sound ;)
