Great vid, Brian! I've been using the Shark 1st gen skwal for my daily ride for the past 4years. The inner dark visor is the best in any brand helmet. Hopefully the skwal 2 has had improvements over it's predecessor in terms of air flow, noise reduction & led battery life. My next purchase will be a Bell helmet though for the perfect fit for my head shape.

I have the Bell Qualifier DLX MIPS and fully agree with Brian here. Great helmet and the pro-tint shield works great as well. Goes from full clear to dark smoke in a very short period of time (l10-ish seconds) and isn't distracting in any way. Fully recommend the helmet for the shield alone!!! Only downside is that the lowest detent is a little high for my liking and won't stay open past about 70-75 km/h. Other than that this is solid

I love my bell SRT, I had a Bell Qualifier before that but after a few months the visor would open up while riding on the freeways when I would do a head check. I still liked that helmet but the visor opening up kind of killed it for me. So went with the SRT because it locks down which is something I wanted riding a naked bike.

Great content! I'm torn between the Scorpion EXO-R710 and the Bell Qualifier DLX MIPS. Which do you think is best in terms of protection and airflow? Where I live the climate is very hot and humid.

To be fair they are both good helmets. I would say the Qualifier DLX will move a little more air (not a massive difference, still a little more). As for protection they are on par with one another providing they fit properly. - Van

Sedici is house brand for Cycle Gear and Revzilla. House brands are more about increasing margin than they are getting great product into your customers hands. Personally I would stick with the reputable name brands that invest in research and development. - Van

@@AM._.. ik this is old but I strongly recommend against the strada 2. I bought it and regret it. Vent glue coming off, loud af, whistles really bad from vents over 100mph. Pads stretched out after less than 2 months of ownership.

I would still love to recommend people to consider whether they might want to put in that little bit extra and go for the Shoei RF-1200 or maybe an Arai Profile-V. I know they cost a lil' bit more, but for me personally, choosing a helmet has two minimum requirements: 1) Does it fit my head shape and 2) Do I trust this manufacturer? And in fact I do trust Scorpion, AGV and many others - but just, just not quite as far as Shoei and Arai. And to me that slight extra cost is worth that slight extra peace of mind. And I do feel there IS a quality difference as well.

I just got the agv k1. I came from the icon airflite . I couldn’t stand how heavy and noisy the helmet was. The agv feels so much nicer and safer on face too.

My Icon Airform's inner shield liked to pop off the mechanism from time to time and get stuck. The only way to un-stick it was to stop, take the helmet off, and fiddle with it until it clicked back in. Maybe the Airflite's mechanism is better or I just had a one off defective helmet but still it's something to keep in mind.

Great presentation. I'm a bit confused about ratings. I used to look for Snell rating (30 years ago) and most all helmets had it back then. Now I just read that Snell ratings are voluntary. I see composite helmets are usually Snell rated but injection molded helmets I've seen lately never have the Snell rating. I really like the Rossi AGV helmet shown here, but its injection molded and not Snell rated. I just looked and the 1,000 dollar AGV carbon fiber Rossi Helmet still has no Snell rating. I'm confused about the safety of an injection molded helmet vs a composite helmet. I just ride street. Thank you.

IMO a helmet which had passes any of the Snell, ECE or FIM helmet standards are all fully capable of protecting the rider in the event of a crash. Both the AGV K1S and the AGV K3 are ECE 22.06 certified while being injection molded shells. - Van

I wish more companies would make helmets with 4 shell sizes like the airmada, it’s the reason I got it but my old illuminati scorpion r-710 outshines it everywhere in terms of quality

You will see the number of shells increase as the retail price goes up. Bell is using 6 in the Star series now. Arai uses 5 shells in their helmets. Shoei is typically 4 along with AGV. That Scorpion EXO-R710 is a lot of helmet for a fair price IMO. - Van

Which is better the Bell SRT or the DLX? It seems to be Fiberglass vs Polycarbonate. I am assuming the SRT has less road noise due to its Fiberglass construction?

6:15 but its not that simple, is it? One might equally validly argue that the added safety from NOT getting the sun blinding you in the eyes, or NOT having night-time vision obstructed by a permanently shaded main visor, is also resulting in a safer helmet since it preemtively helps you not get into a dangerous situation to begin with. Compared with a helmet without a drop-down visor, where either you get blinded by the sun, or you have reduced visibility with a smoked screen at night.

Bought for street riding, chose because HPFC is safer than ABS, other LS2 safety features and the model funcionality, including the relatively low price and good quality. Thank you!

The medium and small use the same shell size. That said I would expect the liner kit of the small to fit the medium. I know the cheek pads would be compatible, the top pad you would need to try. - Van

Slightly round tells me you will need to try some helmets on to verify the fit. Out of all of these I feel like the fit of the RPHA 11 Pro is a little more forgiving and may be a good option for you. Also really like the Scorpion EXO-R1 Air Helmet, just not sure how well that would work for a round head shape. - Van

@@zackbutler950 See the video at 3:43. Brian explains why he separates the helmets with an inner visor and those without an inner visor. While I like the inner visor in my Shoei Neotec, I agree with the points that he makes in this regard.

@@sportbiketrackgear ended up getting a medium rpha 11 pro from you guys. Initial thoughts, it fits well. According to the size chart I’m more in a small based on CM circumference. But I sized up one because of my shape. It doesn’t give me the pressure points like I got with a few other medium helmets, especially the rf1200. Something about that exo r1 air is calling my name though lol.

Want to buy an AGV Kamilian but no one around here sells them. Don't want to buy wrong size because will have a round trip of 150 miles to return it at UPS. Wear a Large Bell Qualifier Accent and x large Icon (airflite) and SS. Only AGV Kamilian I can find is X large. Any advice?

For sizing measure just above the eyebrows. Head shape is a bit more difficult. Most here in the US are intermediate oval which is a little longer front to back than side to side. - Van

I recently bought a Shark Skwall 2, fits great but for me there is really a lot of noise. I have to wear earplugs otherwise my ears hurt after a drive at decent speed. Anyone else with the same experience?

One thing about the icon airflite is that I find it whistles, I believe it's coming from the side plates that lock in the visor. No idea if anyone has a fix for it or not but it's Abit if a drawback. Also when you first get it your ears will be destroyed until it is broken in. Otherwise killer helmet 10/10.

I have the Icon Airflite....and it's good for going slow while looking bitchin'...... Trying to go fast with that helmet is like sailing against the wind :)).... If you tuck it's fine, if you need to look around so you don't hit somebody on the track you better be strong necked :))....

I typically do not ride in helmets at this price point so I can not comment directly on the noise levels. Most of the helmets I ride in are $400 and over. 75 + in the collection so far. - Van

Icon sucks. I wear XL in almost all major brands and even in XXL Icon was still too tight and noise while riding is over the top. Gave it to a friend with smaller head and he never uses it because of the noise.

I've never figured out why people bag on Icon gear on the net. You and I both know no matter what name they sew or stick on most gear they are all manufactured in the same places. My Alpinestars Atem jacket says made in Pakistan just like my Icon gear.

I believe these helmets are well made and definitely better than the entry-level products. However, in my opinion, don't spend your money in this price range. If you just want to get a helmet and save some bucks go for the HJCs or some other options in the previous video, because I don't think helmets in $200 to $350 range will make a huge difference. On the other hand, just spend $100 more on top of this range you can get some top-line products and I am 100% sure you will notice the difference right away compare to entry-level stuff. So either you wanna save money or you wanna high end products. Buying helmets in $200 to $350 range you cannot achieve any ends. Once again, personal opinion.

While I respect your opinion I disagree with it. All of the helmets in this tier are better than those in the sub $200 tier. As an example the HJC i10 comes with a Pinlock ready anti scratch shield. Both the Scorpion EXO-R710 and the Bell SRT come with shields offering very effective fog free coatings. They also include the chin curtain. To get fog free performance and a chin curtain from the i10 you need to purchase the chin curtain and Pinlock insert. Moving forward the Bell Qualifier MIPS DLX includes the ProTint shield that goes from clear to dark smoke when exposed to sun light ($140 value). It also offers a chin curtain and a super cash interior for $279. Trust me when I say we put a ton of time into selecting the helmets in these comparisons. - Van

I agree fully with Vans comment... I have had many high end helmets over the years and currently own Arais, a Pista and a GT Air 2 and I actually end up wearing my Shark Skwal 2 Nukem more often as it is more convenient for both day and night riding... Due to the Southern Hemisphere climate and being in Cape Town.South Africa I tend to use that drop down visor quite regularly which extends further than other brands. Noise levels are quite low as well but the best feature are those LED lights during the evenings which has saved my butt on a few occasions. Many drivers have commented on the LEDs. Good value for your buck and definately worth purchasing if one does not have the budget for a more expensive lid which is not really necessary at all

If you are having a hard time finding a good fit you will need to go to a shop that has options in stock and try some on. We have found many riders wear a helmet one size larger than they should be wearing. - Van

I do not believe the injected plastic helmets are garbage. If they pass the safety standards and fit properly (most important thing) you can expect them to protect you to said standard. - Van

We have a separate video for track helmets, Icon is not included in that group. That said I own a few Icon helmets and feel they make some good street helmets. Their quality is where it needs to be and their designs are unique. - Van
