Even if many bettors out there know these things, anyone can come away from this video entertained or more educated. Job well done here, Jack.

It's called gambling for a reason, regardless of how much of an edge you feel you have. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. For Teflon Don, $4800 on a $5 wager is still an amazing ROI

Maybe so, but if Teflon Don routinely makes bad decisions like this then his ROI will quickly become a negative number.

Moral of the story, always put in the same crazy parlay twice, one to cash out and one to let it ride in case something like this happens lol.

@@matthewedwards9423 how do you hedge against a home run lmao under is usually at least a -700 s that’s idiotic
@matthewedwards9423
@matthewedwards9423 25 күн бұрын
@@jferg8956 Handing 25% of your equity to the bookmaker is idiotic. If you have a $50k+ roll on an exchange, or at least the ability to load those kind of funds up at short notice, and you have access to home run markets, then you can hedge at least some, if not all, of your action. He's offered $12k here. If he declines that and instead bets against for $50k at odds of -700 (what is that, 1/6?)he's at least getting a large percentage of that £12k (over $8k), and it cost him $50k instead of $200k. He doesn't even need that much more than $50k even at 1/6 to reach his cash out offer. Literally every dollar he hedges is gained ev compared to the value of his cash out.

One way of looking at it is that not taking the initial cash out was equivalent to placing a regular bet of $12k on that game. For somebody who initially wagered $5, these $12k were likely at least 5-times his “bankroll” (if one could even use that word here). Even for a recreational gambler, $12k should’ve been a large enough sum of money to make this a no-brainer cash out. Had he not been offered that initial cash out, but been presented with the something around $5k, then one might’ve argued that it’s an amount one is willing to risk. However, refusing the first and then taking the second one is just outright stupid.

Which is why sportsbooks are in business. 99% of sports bettors are too emotional and can't do math.
@jsim596
@jsim596 2 ай бұрын
Totally agreed. If the amount you're being offered to cash out is an amount you could not responsibly afford to place as a standalone bet, I believe you should always cash out. I think it's useful to think of marginal value vs. linear value in situations like that. You also don't have an infinite time horizon to get paid off on letting all your lottery tickets ride. The time to think about pure value is before you place the lottery ticket bet (i.e. don't do it).

I’ve even noticed they will let you cash for 100% refund if the line moves 2 Pennies. (-110 to -108) if you took -110 you could still cash at 100%

Lack of emotional self-control and the inability to do math is a dangerous combination.
@jackoneill76
@jackoneill76 2 ай бұрын
Doesn’t even take any math at all to realize that he’s placing a $12k bet. He likely never would’ve even considered the possibility of taking that amount out of his bank account to bet it on a single game. But that’s the gambler’s fallacy: for them, it’s as if they had somehow “lost” the $200k and “thrown away” that money. And then, after deciding that risking over $12k is perfectly within his financial capabilities - then suddenly a bit under $5k becomes such a precious sum that he can’t go without.
