The gameplay looks great but the fact that a big company like 2K couldn't get more than 7 current male players is shocking. No Djokovic, Nadal, Sinner, Tsitsipas, Ruud, Rune, Zverev, Rublev etc etc. which lessens the immersiveness of MyCareer. Imagine if they released NBA 2K without Jokic, Embiid, Doncic and so on.

A roster like this should be illegal in 2024; it's like releasing a FIFA game without Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappé, and Haaland. Moreover, the cover players like Federer and Alcaraz look like characters from Toy Story, just poorly made. Of course, there's the usual cash grab with additional animations and clothing for your character, but the level of customization is zero since there's not even an option like in NBA2K to do our own face scan. Not to mention the career mode, starting from the 80th position in the world rankings and being able to face (thanks to this wonderful roster) only 7 active ATP players. This game is simply a slap in the face to us tennis lovers. If you dare to tell me that the gameplay is beautiful, it's practically the same as the last Top Spin with a new engine, so they haven't done anything in the development of this game

FIFA can do a deal with a publisher that gets almost every FIFA player in the game without having to negotiate with each individual player. Becaue those players belong to FIFA as an org, and reap the benefits of being within that org... FIFA > Players who are part of FIFA org. Pro tennis players and golf players do not have that kind of org. You don't do a deal with ATP or whatever it is or PGA, cut PGA a check and you get all the people on tour. It's different. Please take a class on partnership licensing before you go bitching and moaning. Here's something to think about... imagine in an upcoming CBA in the NFL, the NFLPA decided they want each individual player to do their own negotiations and get their own individual deal with EA to be IN madden. DO the math. How many players in the NFL? How many individual contracts EA would have to sign? They wouldn't be able to afford to make a Madden game with all those players.

You didn’t go over any of the drawbacks. This sounded more like a sponsored review. Extremely limited player roster. Average graphics. Average player mechanics/animations. No immersion from the crowd no ball boys or girls. Not 100% sure but I heard you can’t even play with friends online a the moment lol. 70$ game guys

Who wrote this review? The game devs. You’ve never seen a tennis match played like this other than in a park. The ai is awful. There are so many half court shots. In the real world such shots would be hammered straight back for a winner. Here it’s ping pong. In doubles when you’ve got both players hugging the net, in the real world that means only one thing. A lob shot. But it’s back to ping pong in this game. The ai is awful in the game. But at least the game devs write a good review. He who pays the piper again. There’s not much realism in this game.

Pre-ordered and got 3 days early release. Absolutely awful, just asked Xbox for a refund. I'm 39 years old, been gaming all my life, and a big tennis fan. Never asked for a refund of a game before now.

@@adriandiaz4624 The gameplay is so slow and clunky. I love tennis and play and watch it a lot. The modern game is fast and explosive. These players just move so slowly. The ball travels slowly. The graphics are incredibly disappointing. Alcaraz and Murray look nothing like the real players. I was hoping there would be an option to speed up the gameplay, but there isn't.

A sincere question, is the older top spin career mode and gameplay better than this current top spin? I love the top spin series in the past and it will really bother me if to buy it and find out that it is not as good as the ps2, ps3 and dreamcast versions.

Why does it look slower than TS4? Looks like low gravity mode...ball goes way too high over the net and takes forever to land...I'm not convinced about this being a worthy renewal from TS4 yet...I'd have to try it.

Graphics is a 2K problem. Roster is an individual contract problem. This isn't the NFL where you cut them a check and you get the rights to all the players. ATP don't work like that. IT's different. You want all the ATP pros? They gotta cut each one of them a check and each contract will be negotiated. You think 2K gonna write 50-100 million dollars worth of check for this? Even if they did, got all those players in, would the game sell more? Yes. Enough to even break even after the money they had to shill out to each player? For a tennis game? not even close.

The price of this game is insane. The roster is an insult, the animations are very generic outside of some signature animations from Federer and Serena., The ball seems floaty, the constant meter when hitting the ball is quite ugly. Graphics are ok at best, some players look like they having a disease though. When on pc, play Full Ace Tennis for proper gameplay, yeah, it looks dated, but the flow, the physics, the speed, the diversity in setting up points puts TS25 to shame.

This overall doesnt even look like an upgrade to topspin 4 at all. The graphics look almost the same just a tad smoother/ more new gen looking while still just looking gimmicky and outdated. The mechanics look similar although almost not as smooth as topspin 4 and doesnt seem to offer anything new or improved. Thats without mentioning the lack in roster and game features. Granted I'm purely basing this from reviews and gameplay I've seen and will have to actually play the game for a better analysis so take this with a grain of salt however I just don't see myself coughing up brand new triple A studio prices for a game that seems to be either a downgrade or very minor upgrade to its 10+ year old predecessor

Just like 2k golf. Bare bones career, outdated graphics and player models, riddled with mtx, and less customization and equipment than golf games a decade ago. Costs more, though. And fk these reviewers and shills that drone on about gameplay. In most cases these games play the same or worse than they did a decade ago. OnLy GamEpLaY MatTErs! Reviewing this as well...giving this an 8.5 is your well deserved opinion of course but to me the lack of game modes, last gen graphics, lack lf players, bad volley play isn´t worth that score. It´s like saying to EA...make us a football pitch, 22 players and a Ball...let us kick it and it´s an 8.5. TS2K25 does nothing more than TS4 after 13 years.

Try Tennis Elbow 4. It has hundreds of real players. Many chances to customize grunts, looks etc. Career mode possible with any player from the history

Animations are hideus, roster is a disgrace, overall the game is not worth the price. Ironically, i would've paid $60 just for a topspin4 remake so I could play online because it is that good. At the end, the "broad appeal" approach to this release is what keeps it from being a good simulation.

To be fair, creating a convincing animation of the strokes including a realistic preparation while reacting properly to the players input must be a huge pain. That being said, they didn't pull it off, unfortunately.

It would be great to get more mo-cap going forward. It seems like the gameplay is enough to get excitement and sales going for this iteration. Let’s hope 2k will invest heavily in roster and mo-cap in future updates and iterations like they’ve done for NBA2k. I’ve yet to play it myself, but seeing more high level players playing the game makes me believe this is the most solid tennis gameplay in a tennis game since the OG TopSpin series. Gameplay from other tennis games since then has been atrocious.

2K announced, that they can shut down the servers anytime after December 2026. You will not be able to play the game careers than anymore. This, and the microtransactions make this game a NO GO! Gameplay is good and fun, that´s right, but the company policy is just milking the customer.

extraordinary game the true king of tennis is back taken the de luxe fantastic real tennis infinite tournaments all the stadiums show. As for the lack of some top players, don't worry they are coming with the next updates... djokovic, sinner, rublev etc everything is coming ..

The people that will buy this game at full price and especially the laughably overpriced middle and top editions are the main reason for why the gaming industry has become such a dumpster fire. This game seems to be Top Spin 4 but with updated graphics and microtransactions and a worse male roster. I read the IGN review and the career mode seems to be the same as in TS4, flaws and all. What the hell is wrong with gamers these days? Gamers back in the day never would have put up with the crap we now constantly see from this industry.

What! Crappy roster and lack of real world tournaments. Poor graphics yet this review makes the game sound like a masterpiece. Don’t compare this 2k game to their top tier releases 2k didn’t make this game actually. They are the publisher. This is a top spin 4 cut and paste with little edit. Half a game is included. Incoming micro transactions

Is it worth the money? Is that a serious question or just click bait. Your review was written by 2K for you? The game looks like ass compared to Virtua Tennis 4 on PC. The last time 2K made good sports games was when they released the last topspin game. Look what you get now, half a game at full price after more then a decade. Online is gimped and if you fools think 2K is going to give you anything good for free...yeah. You might get a ball boy addon or maybe a player no one has heard of, but the good stuff will come with paid DLC! This game will be 40% off in less then 30 days and still NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY!
