In this 8th episode of our series on the 2018 Honda Civic, Kelly takes an entry-level polisher to a pro-detailer problem: deep sanding scratches! You'll see how the unique Lake Country Manufacturing Purple Foam Wool pads enable an amateur, hobbyist, or detailer on a budget to transform even a trashed panel into something truly beautiful again. The days of small-throw, inexpensive orbital (DA) polishers are far from over!

Besides the great info on pads/machine etc......... when Kelly went to the Flex smaller machine as he got close to the edge of the wing he used his fingers as a guide as opposed to masking the edge with tape in the heavy cutting passes. Efficient correction saving time with proper results, the priming the pad might be a rebuttal to a comment I made on another video(Sanding a Bentley Hood/Bonnet) where another detailer in the USA said not to do the priming. Kelly dryly looks at the camera and says try it and SEE what results you will get then proceeds to perform as usual.

Brilliant demo Kelly. Love the way you showed the results from each stage side by side. Also like the way you explained each step.

These new series of LC vids and representatives has taken things leaps and bounds. Purely excellent vid, showing the old school Das6pro in action and the thin purples.

Definately going to try loading the pad more. I feel I don't get the working times with 3 or 4 drops, always assumed I was clogging the pad with any more 👌🏼

Great video! I tried loading up the pad and found I was getting more dusting compared to just doing a few drops. Going to keep experimenting with the different methods.

get a polish doesn't dust bro, also if you dampen your pad you don't have to load as much, because it spreads the polish much easier on pad and surface, single spray of H2o is enough

Love the video Kelly. I'd love to see you do something like this on a really hard clear. I have a 2020 VW Tiguan R-Line in Black Pearl and the clear on it seems harder than bloody Rocky Balboa! I wanted to do a bit of a clean up on the bonnet as there was some etching where the dealers had left it outside during lockdown. Tried a medium cutting pad with Sonax Perfect finish. Car laughed at it. Tried the same grade of pad again but this time with Sonax Cutmaxx and it laughed at that too. Literally, you wouldn't be able to even tell anyone had touched the car at all as it looked no different. Was thinking if buying a Urofibre 50/50 pad to try as I like the fact it cuts and finishes with one pad, but then started watching your videos.

It could be that you may have Ceramiclear paint on it so would be cautious of going too aggressive on it as you could make more work for yourself. I think if the paint code starts with a 'C' that could be the case. Hope I get corrected on this 👍🏼

@@matty387 that is a very good point. I will need to have a look at the paint code as I have read a lot of the German manufacturers have switched to this over the last couple of years.

Question for the guru of detailing : is it the pad or product that makes the best progress? I asked so many times and got so many different answers. I own a 51 E from you guys and love it.
@manuelmuller8070
@manuelmuller8070 2 жыл бұрын
the pad makes a lot more progress. you can verify that by a comparison: use a cutting pad with baby oil and compare the results with a polishing pad with a cutting compound. You will see that the cutting pad removed a lot more of the defects. Apex Detail did a comparison vid about this topic: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oL-VrM1kr7i2lmg.html

Hi Matt - I began writing a long response, but instead I'm thinking we could use your question in a video at some point. Long story short though - pad choice, and pad quality, is important if you're looking for efficient, repeatable, predictable results. Struggling with bad pads (poor quality, or pads that don't suit the task) is not a smart way to go!
