I have an apple tree that has been in my yard since I was a kid. It is now hollow and dying. I’m going to cut it down in the next several days. I have to agree that the blue globe really does make the piece. As for the walnut, what can be said, it is the king of woods, at least North American woods. Absolutely love the look as it glows in the dark. Another beautiful piece to add to your already impressive resume.

That blue globe really does make the piece. When the lights are on, it does look like a planet. But in the dark, it looks like a pulsar (at least, I think that's what they're called)!

I was lucky enough to live the line of totality during the eclipse here in Ohio, and I was beginning to wonder if I was going to be disappointed and then when it was at the stage of totality it was absolutely incredible. Suffice to say the total eclipse was far and beyond what I saw when it was only at partial.

Sucking all the fun out of Springtime - the little monsters! But, once again Jim, you overcome all obstacles to create a BEAUTIFUL piece! I continue to be amazed how you take random and rough pieces and create a work of ART! Of course using the King of North American Hardwoods didn't hurt!! (I liked the Eclipse footage. We didn't see the dramatic change here on the Mid Atlantic Coast that others did. And the I thought the last one was more dramatic too!) Thanks again!!

Hi Jim, as always beautiful work. I saw a Eclipse on one of the balls. Down near the bottom. Being you showed the Eclipse super cool. Here in Cork it was cloudy and raining. You could call it the Eclipse vase. You might like to keep it for your new house. Next Eclipse like this one is I think is 2099. I love it. Have a great weekend.

Beautiful piece! I love all of the colors you chose for it. I really wasn't sure about the black at first but it made a perfect contrast to the globes. I'm always amazed by your work and this one definitely doesn't disappoint! I'm lucky enough to live in the area that had the longest totality during the eclipse. It was amazing!

Watching you fight with those silicone ball molds I totally get it. I feel bad but I was laughing at the same time because I have been fighting with them too. Not the balls but the 4 inch cylindrical molds. My fingers are still hurting lol.

Oh, and by the way I use isopropyl alcohol (70%) to slip them off. It helps some. But they can get sticky.

I truly love watching you work- here in Australia the timing can be off & I’m asleep already unfortunately but I always watch all the way through- as a qualified jeweller I have so much respect for your work & your creative “eye” which isn’t something most people are blessed with as I’m sure I don’t have to tell you! Awesome. The black walnut and the hypershift "space" work great together. Thank you. Looks like a Bulls head on the blue planet to me. The cracks and other "defects" in the walnut make it special.

Another beautiful creation with a celestial theme. Love the blue orb, but in keeping with the eclipse, the pinkish / white orb is very interesting also. Great job. As always, thanks for sharing. Designer epoxy

It turned absolutely stunning. I enjoy tremendously watching these transformations and even more showing them to my Dad, who's been working with wood all of his life, though much less now, as he's 90. 😅
