I ordered a kit! I’m so excited and happy. I have my great grandmother’s crochet hooks she used for lace. 😊

My mom had a pearl necklace that was a tube like this in the 70s. I always loved it and wondered how to make it. I've seen a lady from Russia (?) on Instagram make these tubes into jewelry and fascinated by it but never enough to actually try it. I ordered the indigo and am excited to get it! But I have to admit that I got the laxo cuff kit and it was on my sewing desk but I haven't seen it for weeks!! I had just got to the point that I needed to rewatch the video plus print out the directions (my printer wasn't working). I need to find that and work it up too!

I just got my kit! Thank you!! I have a quick question. I am having a hard time opening the magnetic clasp. Any suggestions on how to open it?

You just have to get your fingernail in there and bend the two ends away from each other... if you do it at an angle it will pull apart!

I cannot believe how much trouble I am having - your tutorial is so good and clear. I am obeying and repeating Ann's mantra IN, OVER, DOWN, AROUND, THROUGH!. But none of my beads look like donuts - they all look like tires. and I am pushing the bead down and to the right of the hook before bringing down another bead. have pulled it out so many times, i am going to have to cut the thread and start with a fresh length because of fraying...am going to try w/a larger hook as you suggest and maybe I can figure out what I am doing wrong...

Yes, try with a larger hook, yarn and beads... also, sometimes it helps to look at other tutorials as they way someone else explains the technique might help it click? Let me know how that goes!

@@LauraNelkin OMG finally - my tube looks like yours!!! I have donuts and a round of tires - whoopie!! So, what was I doing wrong?? #1. I was putting my hook through two strands of thread (I am a knitter so I got totally focused on the chain - not putting my hook UNDER THE BEAD). #2. I did not pick up on the move where you moved the thread after pushing the bead to the right of the hook. So I could not figure out why my thread wasn't "crossing" like yours did. I watched another person's video and she really slowed that part down and even said if you don't move your thread, the bead will stick out. The thread has to fall between the two loops on your hook before you bring down the next bead and then that bead falls between those two loops. With these 2 fairly major (but seemingly minor) errors, I was not getting a pile of donuts just a bunch of rowdy tires and then I couldn't tell which tire to work. The bigger hook also helped because at 50+ I cannot see a thing anymore (with or without my glasses LOL). Thanks for the kit, the video, the encouragement - we are grooving now!!!

My crochet hook sizer (Katrinkles) smallest size is 2.5 any idea how to size some of these older steel hooks. .25 cents on shaft isn’t real helpful

sounds like you need a smaller gauge tool to size them!
