I've been doing this style of provisional cast on for years, only recently learned about the stitch saver tubing, it's an absolute game changer! Was trying to explain this to another person and found your tutorial, absolutely wonderful!

I found the comments about the island strike and the tunnel system very interesting. I think you do a great job with the “lives” (even thought I watch them later), they feel like you are sitting in front of me chatting.

Hi Laura, I want to make a double sided hat. Mina Phillips just released her inside out hat pattern. She says it starts with a provisional cast on.vim trying to wrap my head around this cast on. Would you say the cable cast on would work for this pattern? Thanks for you advise

Is there any way you can add the beads without cutting the string?

Love your posts. Why use the provisional cast on instead of casting on three stitches?

Could I use air dry clay to make this?

Crafter thought-- (what a fantastic idea you have) instead of polymer use Apoxie Sculpt (by Aves Studio---- it's an air dry resin clay that dries hard like a rock - much more durable than polymer)

I very much enjoyed hearing all about your trip to the Faro islands. this is my first watching of a live event--you said you would be giving away one of the books but I didn't see that happen at the end of the video, or, how anyone would "enter" a drawing.

I've made a sample and am loving the structure! Laura is there a similar way to cast off as I find the Italian tubular cast off method a bit too thin/weak?

What a timely find! I was just thinking about this, wondering if you could do a provisional cast on with the stitch saver cord! Thank you so much for demonstrating the technique, I will definitely be using it!

Great bind-off option. Thanks so much for the comparisons, too. I will certainly use this on garter stitch. Such a nicely finished edge it creates. Brand new to me.

I loved seeing all the pictures of Faroe as it's a place I will probably never visit. The puffins are SO adorable!! And, how unique and amazing to have so many yarn shops and knitters. I remember my son telling me the grocery stores in Iceland sold yarn. We should be so lucky!!

Lifelines are such a timesaver for lacework or complicated patterns too. I use a cheap cone of cotton thread, but I know barber cords are available on Amazon and a roll isn’t too expensive.
