Spray foam insulation for our DYI van build project. Don't do these mistakes!

Learn from our experience and discover essential tips to ensure a successful and well-insulated van conversion journey! Spray foam is really big topic tons of positives and negatives around it, going to share some insides. (Messy)
Few quick tips what I would recommend to my past self -
1. Buy the foam remover (was really helpful)
2. Prepare a nice covers (plastic sheets worked well)
3. Take your time (It start to be very stressful while starting)
4. Think about all the places you going to spray (some wires or key locks cant be foamed in!)

Most all the houses in Californi use foam. So spray away the cold ! I have insulated thousands of houses here ! Make sure all wiring is sealed also !

Now the floor is down make sure you silicone around the entire thing upto the walls, this will prevent any water-leakage or anything you spill going down and rotting the foam out (: Some additional tips : Buy some 1.3mm Sound Dampering sheets, (KILMAT 50mil) is a very good option but costs alot. (cheaper stuff is usually not bad) If you want extreme sound dampering buy some DODO liner as well to go over the top of the 1.3mm sheets Make sure to get a rough idea of were your cable runs will go (and do this twice so you don't forget anything) Buy some insulation tape to cover the gaps between to make sure there is no gaps, add expanding foam to any area's were there are gaps Please ensure you are aware of why condensation exists and how to prevent it, some sort of foil barrier will be needed for the walls to cover the entire wall after your sound dampering/insulation, you can use spray adhesive (cheap) as well as a foil vaper barrier here is one : SuperFOIL-General-Purpose-Insulation-Wrap - Please don't gloss over this fact or you will have issues with condensation on the walls which will lead to rot & mould. Hope this helps :)

Hey, wow, thank you for your effort, those things are definitely on the table right now, because we are about to finish with the walls and thinking about that foil tape layer to cover the smallest gaps and the connections of the marine plywood. Talking about the sound deadening - foam is the best at it and don't need worry about other materials and costs, was hard to fill every small corridor tho

No problem (: And yeah the vapor barrier is a must need really because of sweating insulation and window condensation which transfers to the metal of the van it will stop it going inside and the insulation tape is a time saver for me, its like any old tape really (duck tape in comparison) i even use it on stuff that doesnt need insulation tape because its good haha @@rolling-home

The instruction says - yes, until its harden in a few hours. After application, didn't find any studies or tangible proof, just rumors, but everyone is using at homes in europe, half of the doors fitted with foam..
