Using the purple gun from harbor freight that is frequently on sale for 9$ along with the “spectrum” line of disposable paint cups that harbor freight also sells which mimics the PPS 1.0 system. For the price and for primer you can’t really beat this gun, I’ve even used it for base and clear but on a job I actually care about, I wouldn’t use it for that anymore.
Ft a little bit of a how to style video on body work to help educate people getting into this trade or trying to fix their own car at home.
Used 4:1 mix ratio on shop line primer as well

Found it useful Nick. Thanks. I like the tip on the Spectrum stuff I didn't know HF sold. I need to get a set along with the PPS adapter. I have this and a couple other HF guns and another slightly better, but cheap chinesium gun. I just used that to spray some Kubota orange on a rack I just welded up for tractor implement stacking. It took longer to clean the gun and cup than to do the spraying. The Spectrum will save valuable time.

That’s how I see it, they sell a knock off PPS 1.0 adapter at harbor freight too and the liners are I believe cheaper than the real pps ones but work the same

Great video thank you for taking time out for making this video i'm priming my car i was not sure what gun to use for primer i have bought Black widow for base coat and clear i don't want to use $250.00 gun on a primer. Again thank you

Glad someone found it useful! Your best to have a separate gun for primer, a separate one for sealer, base and mid coat, and then a 3rd gun that you use only for clear

take the the paint nozzle off and drill out the 1.4 hole to 2mm with a 5/64 drill bit, put it back together, spray perfect primer coats. Thank me later !

Tip is alittle small for primer but I bought one on Amazon 25 bucks with big 2.0 2.5 1.7 primes pretty good.

What kind of paint thinner do you recommend???

What ever kind is for the paint you are using… id you use shopline paint then use shopline reducer

If you're spraying urethane primer no reducer you said thinner thinner and reducer are two different things lacquer thinner urethane grade reducer clean up your gun with thinner but if you put it in urethane products reducer basic or omni is a low to medium grade but will work as well as most use the right temp i only use premium grade matrix to be specific base coat clears in ppg there premium is ppg used it but had alots of problems.

I have $800 spray guns $500 spray guns NOBODY in this business spends more then $200 on a primer gun. Most i ever spent for a primer gun was $200 on a flg devilbiss with a 1.8 tip. Anyways i came here to say is we buy that same gun yo6 have and drill the nozzle to 2mm they work good.
